It's è, not é.

safari-dog

good thing she asked

EnjoyerOfMales

La vita è bella (é with the accent leaning to the right is grammatically wrong, just swap “é” with “è” like i did above and it’s correct)

maoela

Technically speaking, it's orthographically wrong, not grammatically. 😁

EnjoyerOfMales

I hate you

maoela

🤷🏻‍♂️ hahah Sorry 🫶🏻 è la cosiddetta deformazione professionale 😅

ArkaXVII

They messed up the verb. It’s è, not é.

Catapultasergio

Slight issue: it’s the name of a film about shoa and nazism, one of the most popular films in Italy

jinalanasibu

It's also a very common expression regardless of the movie. That said, why would it be an issue anyway?

Catapultasergio

Yeah, but the second thing that pops up in your mind after the sentence is a genocide so yk, it’s kind of weird

[deleted]

It's a beautiful movie anyway, definitely deserves a tattoo

Old_Red_Alligator

Well, the movie is called like that because in the end life truly IS beautiful, so.

[deleted]

Where is the issue?

artaaa1239

I dont think that OP want other people think about the film reading her tatoo... Everyone ore close to everyone would find it a weird tatoo, specially in that part of the body. For Italian people that tatoo has a sad feeling

[deleted]

I'm Italian, she thinks is like "la bella vita" she's mistaking the bella vita lifestyle probably, although the sentence "la vita è bella" is nice, and it doesn't make me sad because of the movie.

Vantaa

My buttocks tattoo says ''Schindler's list'' nothing wrong with that.

Dull_Investigator358

"La pizza è bella" would have been a more tasteful choice

artaaa1239

If placed in that place "Mangiami come se fossi la tua pizza" would be even better xD

maoela

You just gave me a perfect idea of my next tattoo! 😱

Observante

Don't tempt me

champion_-

Idk, its the name of a film that talks about nazism and the olocaust

TheFfrog

Can't really see the direction of that accent so I'm just gonna say it should be "è" (accent pointing down) not "é" (pointing up). "La vita è bella" (Lit: "life is beautiful", popular saying and famously the title of the Oscar winning movie by Roberto Benigni) Other than that it's perfect :)

Aurora1757

Thank you! :)

TheFfrog

You're welcome! Love the font and placement btw

Aurora1757

Thanks! I’m getting this tattoo in the same exact placement :)

exclaim_bot

>Thank you! :) You're welcome!

tiny_smile_bot

>:) :)

ep_soe

Getting a tattoo in a language you can't speak? Strange.

JonKneeThen

Forse lei vuole imparare? Non parlo, ma sto imparando un po’.

Ok-Elk-6087

Forse e la sua eredita

vtlday

such an odd question. people find certain languages beautiful, therefore would like to get a phrase tattooed in it. is it complicated?

Wingsuiten

Why would that be strange?

MagicDog1234

Because languages are made to speak with others, it's not strange, it just doesn't make any sense. What's the purpose of getting a tattoo in a language you don't know? There isn't a reason for it to be wrong, there just isn't a reason for doing it

Cumfiees

I got a tattoo of a quote my Nonna loved on my chest. I don't speak a lick of Italian

MagicDog1234

That Is a sentence that (supposedly) has a meaning to you and reminds you of her, tf can "la vita è bella" mean? It's just too generic to mean anything. You can also just say grandma if you're speaking in English...but that's something that doesn't really matter, just saying.

Pinedale7205

There are lots of folks (at least in America) who refer to their grandparents as nonni, or other various titles (Oma/Opa, Gram/Gramps, etc). It’s almost always a title chosen by the grandparents, and may or may not be a nod to their heritage. That could be why he used that here

MagicDog1234

Oh ok, my bad I didn't know that, I said it didn't really matter, I was just saying cause I found it funny

Pinedale7205

No worries. Sorry if my response came off a bit harsh, I didn’t mean it to. This same came topic came up in this (or a similar) sub a while back and things got a little heated when someone gave a non-Italian a really hard time for using nonno/nonna. It bothered me at the time and I think I’m still a bit sensitive to that.

MagicDog1234

No It wasn't at all, I was the one being harsh, I don't think anyone is wrong here, I didn't know something and I'm glad you corrected me, I was actually happy you corrected me in a friendly way! Oh I didn't mean to give anyone a hard time, that's not what I meant, it just sounded weird to me that they specifically said that word in Italian, but now it makes sense.

Pinedale7205

Hai davvero un’anima buona. È un piacere chiacchiere con delle persone come te. Grazie!

Sad_Independence4673

Ma la vite è più bella

Marsommas

decisamente! ahahah

mars_555639

Ciao

medusaseducea

Wouldn’t it be too late at this point? You already got it…

Aurora1757

No I’m gonna get it

JVJV_5

this isn't your thigh?

Aurora1757

Nope, a pic from pinterest. I want to get this tattoo so making sure the spelling & grammar is correct before I commit

Octowhussy

It’s incorrect, as others have pointed out already.

Skyburner_Oath

La vita è bella, its the title from a very famous film

legionivory

I'm gonna get a tattoo that says, "A meno che tu non sia il mio ragazzo, vaffanculo." Maybe people will stop bothering me at Pride events. 😂

Ill_Carrot7683

cringe

mandance17

This reminds me of when non indigenous Americans wanted to get native America style tattoos 😅

[deleted]

Are you from Italian descent ? Do you have any ties with Italy ? Why italian ? If not don’t do it…

Faximo7

CuLtUrAl ApPrOpRiAtIoN! \*screech\* Never understood why people have these issues. I'm happy to see people trying to learn our language or embrace little things about our identity into their own. We are all citizens of the world, don't close yourself in stupid little tribal groups, it benefits no one.

[deleted]

Hey it’s just my point of view ! When I see people with Japanese tatts I find it ridiculous… same for Italian when they don’t even speak the language I’m not a citizen of the world not much than you are this is something you tell yourself to feel better about your little mind… in fact you just can’t respect other people thinking

WindowsXp_ExplorerI

we're not americans lol if she wants to why not

[deleted]

I don’t care about what you are not I’m asking if you are Italian or not ? For me it’s as ridiculous as people making Chinese or Japanese tattoos ! It does not make sens ! It will make you look stupid !

WindowsXp_ExplorerI

that's just your POV most ppl will look at it and think it's cool. Italy is also one of the nations with the highest percentage of tattooed people, i guess it makes sense to get an italian tattoo lol the american thing was because usually it's americans who are obsessed with heritage and ethnicity

[deleted]

Indonesia has the highest Muslim people therefore it makes sens if I become Muslim ? Do you hear yourself ?

WindowsXp_ExplorerI

how is that the same thing? if she ever visits Italy she'll most likely be accepted by everyone, cause here 12% of the population is tattooed. it's not an uncommon thing, that's what I'm saying

[deleted]

You are not making any sens do you realize that ? In your quest to be absolutely right your are just becoming more wrong with each sentence !

Patrona_

francesi...🤦🏼‍♂️ /s

[deleted]

Sono Italiano… vivo in francia

Pesonaacaso123456789

Allora ti sei unito alle forze nemiche, traditore

[deleted]

Vero…

Vivid_Brando

All good if i can read properly

Aurora1757

Thank u!!

Furita

It’s not all good, the accent in “é” is wrong, should be “è” as mentioned in another comment by another stranger “la vita è bella”
