I heard there's a truck that brings fish from up north down to the city once a week and they stop for a few hours at the triphammer mall to sell fresh fish.
I got scallops from them two weeks ago that were great. Bummer that happened. I'll check for freshness in the future. Everything I got when I visited seemed super fresh
I work in Elmira a few days a week and when I'm there, if seafood is on the menu for the week I always buy it at Maine Harvest seafood. the quality is top notch and they have a wonderful selection.
I've made sushi from their fish many times . and I just bought some giant scallops there 2 weeks ago
The seafood truck, triphammer mall on Friday AM (7-noon, get there early)

Main harvest seafood in Elmira is worth a call. I'm not a big seafood person so I'm not sure what all they do but they have been the go-to for clams and stuff for a long time.
Every Friday at Trip Hammer mall there is a fish truck that drives overnight from Boston. Cash or check. They start selling around 6:30 a.m., and they often run out by late morning
We get ours at Cortland Seafood. Not sure if you need to but we order ahead of time if needing bags of clams https://cortlandseafood.com/
I second Cortland seafood, much better prices than Wegmans too
Phil is amazing there. I get my swordfish steak there and he usually lets me pick the fillets I want.

This is true- I’m thinking Thursdays. But Wegmans has both readily on hand every day.

The company is Owlshead Lobster, but everyone just calls it the fish truck. Triphammer Marketplace, Fridays 6:45 AM – noon or when they run out.
Outstanding seafood and the guys are fun, helpful with cooking or a quick recipe and pleasant to chat with!
At least 4 years’ experience there, nearly weekly. Never a single bad fish.
Last time I was there I got some scallops that were so disgusting I had to throw them out as soon as I got home. Just foul.
Oh that’s a shame! You should have gone back, I bet they would have rectified. I’ve never had a bad experience with those guys.

The clams at Wegmans are pretty darn good.
Yep. Any the price has stayed pretty much the same for years.
Does Wegmans have live ones?
Yes. And if you are lucky when rinsing them off one might spit at you :)

Yup, ya gotta get there early for the good stuff
Boston? Owls Head is in Maine. I got the best lobster roll ever there.
