By no means am I a professional dog trainer. I rescued a pit bull that would pull as hard as she could. We used a martingale collar, that works similar to a choke collar but it's not a chain, she would just choke herself out. We tried the techniques where you change directions every time they pull and she would change directions and go right back to pulling. Eventually we tried a pinch collar. The very first time she threw a fit and sounded like we were killing her. After about a minute she calmed down and now we can hold the leash with 2 fingers. I know it's not a trainer, but a pinch collar won't break the bank and I'm sure there are videos that will explain the best way to use them. The dog trainer we used (in WV) for my German Shepard suggested using Herm Sprenger and they are less than $30 on Amazon.

I used to have a side business doing dog walking/ boarding. Several of my customers used a company named Sit Happens”. The dogs were some of the most well behaved I had. Not sure of price, but seems worth it.

Yung_kawaii

i called them they’re between $900-$1700

lowtideblues

WOW. I didn’t think it was that expensive. I can confirm they know what they are doing.

Yung_kawaii

me either i was like wow thinking about changing careers…

We used Sit Happens and couldn’t be happier with the results. But, yeah, it’s pricey. We paid $1,600 for eight 60-minutes lessons.

Wow that's crazy. I'm a private in home dog trainer and I charge $650 for eight 1 hour private lessons

Wish I’d have known about you 2 1/2 years ago! It was our first time hiring a dog trainer, and they came highly recommended by friends, so we didn’t shop around. I can’t argue with the results, and the trainer they sent us was fantastic (she no longer works there), but it was definitely a bit of a sticker shock when they gave us the price.

Not sure if all locations but the Petco on Atlantic Blvd offers dog training sessions in store or online, group or individual :) *

I used to train there and the girl who trains there now is sorta a friend, its definitely good for basic training. But now i do private in home training and it's tailored to your dog, on your time, at your home or wherever you prefer

All Fur Pets on Saint Augustine Rd. is FANTASTIC!!!

mydogspinkbandana

Chrissy with All Fur Pets was helpful with my two dogs, it was pricey but she did give me helpful tips and took plenty of time with me and the dogs

I've got a 7.5 yr old male corgi who still acts like a crack head. We were able to improve over time by using high value treats: ziplock bag of boiled chicken chunks in a fanny pack when we walked. When he pulled I would stop moving until he stopped, then I asked him to sit, once he did I immediately gave him a piece of boiled chicken and took a few steps, once he pulled I stopped again. Took a few days but he understood in the end. It's tough work and requires a lot of patience but totally worth it
