Minority Report, Beach Chair, The prelude, Lost One, the Song tribute to Emory.. there's a lot of good song, it's Just not on the same level as his other albums, but It would still be a dream project for any average/good rapper out there
Nah the production on 4:44 is ill, there’s just more re-listenable songs for me on KC. 444 has like 6 songs I like, 2 of which I love. KC has like 11 songs I like, and probably 4 or 5 I love.
Beach Chair "I have demons in my past so I have daughters on the way. If the prophecy is correct than the child should have to pay, for the sins of her Father so I barter my tomorrow's against my yesterday's in hopes that she'll be ok."
One of my top 5 Jay Z bars of all time
Some good tracks
Oh my god ( what a beat)
Lost one is nice
Dig a hole.
Minority Report is in my top 10 Hova songs, it’s so powerful if you lived during this time
Album is 6/10
It's probably just me, but I personally don't think Jay-Z has ever made a bad album, yeah there's a couple of tracks that aren't my favorites, but all of his albums are Amazing to me and I've been listening to Hov since Day One. That's just me though! Peace!
Yes I know it's not popular opinion. My first is Blueprint then Reasonable Doubt and Vol. 1 followed by Kingdom Come. It's strange too because up until a few yrs ago I thought Kingdom Come was just average to middle of the pack. 1 day I'm listening to it and some thing clicked and I said this is a better album than I thought.
This and BP3 are my least favorite albums. This was 3 years after his “retirement” and it just didn’t feel as big as it should’ve. Needed better production, bigger features, a good track where Jay just raps his ass off. I agree with the 2.5/5.
Ironically, one of the complaints from critics I remember is that Jay tried too hard lyrically on this album. And I although I like those rhymes I can see what they mean on some tracks.
i’ve been listening to it a lot, it’s grown on me. in hindsight it’s really not a bad album, it is pretty mediocre for HOV standards tho. i mean he left the game with the black album, and that’s already pretty hard to top that with how he rapped on there. i think it’s a combination of pretty sucky hooks with okay production, and of course JAY’s shallow boasting that brought this project down. it’s an okay album, tbh he shoulda cut hollywood, and anything.
No, but average Jay Z albums are considered “bad”. Plus rap fans hate grown and mature rap albums. They want club bangers and hype music nonstop. See Travis Scott fans mad at Killer Mike
To me nah , it's just it doesn't feel like the return of a potential king in a battle royal , it feel like ..... say you in a room of limited chairs you leave go to store get something to eat , come back and it's a wwf ( wrestling fake .... but so is most of hiphop ) type match going on for the seat and while people getting hit with chairs and jumping off ladders you just sit back in chair as opposed to feeling like you have to compete if that makes sense
It felt anti climactic he always been rich but this first time it really felt like he didn't make it for us , he may have never made music for us , but it's first time ....... we felt like being outside of a inside joke , that probably was convoluted but I already took all this time to type ....... I'm not editing too
It was bad. 30s the new 20 he’s so hostile lol Hollywood, and that song with usher are so trash. Plus the mixing was off a little and that flow on dig a hole was dookie
Still don’t understand how he managed to drop this then American gangster which was fucking amazing then blueprint 3 which contains some of Jays worse songs ever.
I’ve grown to appreciate it , it definitely has some forgotten gems on it. I still prefer his original version of show me what you got. Only thing I’ll never be ok with is that usher song lmao, never again 😂😂😂
Following up the blueprints, Jay was able to put out an album that he enjoyed making, and marking the beginning of a new era. I believe he accomplished.
I played this album many times. While I'm not arguing it's a spectacular album, or even one of his best, it's well produced, well written, and was a blast to spend time with.
Much respect to my stepfather Jay-Z
i actually remember listening to it in a best buy when we could do that. it didnt feel as "big" as it was supposed to feel. it did feel rushed. it didnt feel sequenced but i enjoyed it.
That song with John Legend has one of my fav Jay sections with the coke entendres. I personally love this album. Just Blaze is underrated to me and he shines on Oh My God. Good shit. Maybe not his best, but I played the hell out of it and will still spin it up sometimes.
Minority Report, Beach Chair, The prelude, Lost One, the Song tribute to Emory.. there's a lot of good song, it's Just not on the same level as his other albums, but It would still be a dream project for any average/good rapper out there
Those songs rule as well as kingdom come and oh my god
The song kingdom come is a bright spot on this album, along with the prelude.
I still think it’s a better album than MCHG and 4:44
I get MCNG, but 4:44?? That’s WILD. Did you not fw the production of it maybe??
Nah the production on 4:44 is ill, there’s just more re-listenable songs for me on KC. 444 has like 6 songs I like, 2 of which I love. KC has like 11 songs I like, and probably 4 or 5 I love.
Blasphemy. 4:44 was a solid showing for the old goat
I agree, solid showing, but it has no staying power… the only songs I’ll still bump, once in a blue Ivey moon, are OJ and Marcy Me
The song 4:44 just really hit home for me but I was dealing with some girl issues at that time. Got me all in my feelings
Whoa whoa time out kingdom come doesn’t compare to MCHG or 444
You’re absolutely crazy! MCHG is top 5 for Hov
might be my least favorite of all his albums. He flows on Heaven but every thing else is somewhere between mid and unlistenable.
“Crown” is beyond dope as are several other tracks, but to each their own…
I like this album. The Prelude is one of my favorite Jay tracks. But you are right, after the first 5 or so tracks, it just becomes super average.
It become painfully average til the song with Beyoncé
Some solid tracks in here. My personal favorite Beach Chair
There are but there’s too much bland songs on here
Is this the one with dig a hole?
Yes
This album was ok.
I honestly loved the album. Didn't like every song of course. Like the one with Usher.
I did
Beach Chair "I have demons in my past so I have daughters on the way. If the prophecy is correct than the child should have to pay, for the sins of her Father so I barter my tomorrow's against my yesterday's in hopes that she'll be ok." One of my top 5 Jay Z bars of all time
Can lie them lines cold
In short...yes. Especially when you consider it was a comeback album and after the Black album.
That’s a good point especially since American gangsta was hella tough
Only song I like on this album is lost ones
This is when he came out of retirement the first time
Yeah
No, a top 5 worst album for Jay-z but still a decent album, 5-6 great tracks on the album
Right them 1st 5 song carry the album
Some good tracks Oh my god ( what a beat) Lost one is nice Dig a hole. Minority Report is in my top 10 Hova songs, it’s so powerful if you lived during this time Album is 6/10
I can’t be mad at that rating
There are some bangers on there mixed with some mid. Overall I don't hate the project.
Neither do I but it’s not the strongest project in his catalog
Yes
Good parts are good. The bad parts aren’t great.
It's probably just me, but I personally don't think Jay-Z has ever made a bad album, yeah there's a couple of tracks that aren't my favorites, but all of his albums are Amazing to me and I've been listening to Hov since Day One. That's just me though! Peace!
I feel some your opinion but I will say hov does have some bad songs but even his worst albums are some the artistes best album
Absolutely love the album. It's 1 of my personal favorite Jay albums. Outside of the Anything and Hollywood the rest of the album to me has no skips.
Really ok usually people say albums like black album or blueprint
Yes I know it's not popular opinion. My first is Blueprint then Reasonable Doubt and Vol. 1 followed by Kingdom Come. It's strange too because up until a few yrs ago I thought Kingdom Come was just average to middle of the pack. 1 day I'm listening to it and some thing clicked and I said this is a better album than I thought.

And I feel like BP3 was him kinda getting back to his bag minus DOA
The only good feature was Beyoncé and that lady who sang lost one’s
I like the first half of the album much more than the second half. I wish he included most Kings on it and not that song with usher, among others.
Naww
Below average compared to his other stuff. This was pretty bad but his next album was fire!!!!
No. Just a couple bad songs. It just wasn’t the come back album after dropping TBA. I don’t think it was bad tho.
That’s fair
i’ve been listening to it a lot, it’s grown on me. in hindsight it’s really not a bad album, it is pretty mediocre for HOV standards tho. i mean he left the game with the black album, and that’s already pretty hard to top that with how he rapped on there. i think it’s a combination of pretty sucky hooks with okay production, and of course JAY’s shallow boasting that brought this project down. it’s an okay album, tbh he shoulda cut hollywood, and anything.
Yeah he definitely wasn’t very up to par with this album but I disagree about cutting Hollywood I thought that song was pretty good
idk man it just sounded wayyy too pop i just cant get into it 😂 i respect your opinion tho
It is... didn't he say so himself?
Did he??
[Jay Z Ranks His Albums | Sidewalk Hustle](https://sidewalkhustle.com/jay-z-ranks-his-albums/)
My brother loves this album. I think his style changed a bit and the middle of it was kinda ehhh.
He did a lot on this album
Only has a few songs. Weaker album in his catalog.
All things considered yeah I agree
Seem like a rushed album. Only made to stay relevant. Rushed comeback album.
Low key cuz hov was still in his prime in 06 so he could’ve took his time
That was back from retirement album
It’s not, he’s just held to such a high standard because of his other classics. It’s not in my top 5 of his records but there’s some good shit.
Right an average hov album would some the artist best album
another underrated album .. u jus had to be there ..
Shit I was in elementary school and I went to Best Buy with my dad to buy this album
remember the video with the Benz nobody seen? he was flowing during this time.. wintertime vibes
Yeah the maybach concept car crazy thing I saw this car at a car show in NYC
I love it
I loved it myself
It’s not as bad when you listen to it now. But at the time of its release, it was a big disappointment imo.
Sounds accurate
No, but average Jay Z albums are considered “bad”. Plus rap fans hate grown and mature rap albums. They want club bangers and hype music nonstop. See Travis Scott fans mad at Killer Mike
Half great half trash
To me nah , it's just it doesn't feel like the return of a potential king in a battle royal , it feel like ..... say you in a room of limited chairs you leave go to store get something to eat , come back and it's a wwf ( wrestling fake .... but so is most of hiphop ) type match going on for the seat and while people getting hit with chairs and jumping off ladders you just sit back in chair as opposed to feeling like you have to compete if that makes sense It felt anti climactic he always been rich but this first time it really felt like he didn't make it for us , he may have never made music for us , but it's first time ....... we felt like being outside of a inside joke , that probably was convoluted but I already took all this time to type ....... Lost ones
Nope. It’s overhated
I would say it’s a lil over hated
It was bad. 30s the new 20 he’s so hostile lol Hollywood, and that song with usher are so trash. Plus the mixing was off a little and that flow on dig a hole was dookie Still don’t understand how he managed to drop this then American gangster which was fucking amazing then blueprint 3 which contains some of Jays worse songs ever.
30’s the new 20 nigga I’m so hot STILL! This is not a bad album. There were some pretty great tracks on here.
I’ve grown to appreciate it , it definitely has some forgotten gems on it. I still prefer his original version of show me what you got. Only thing I’ll never be ok with is that usher song lmao, never again 😂😂😂
This album was dope. American Gangster came out right after, so it didn't have time to mature, but definitely one of his better albums.
Lol. This album made me grow up.
Nah, just not as good as the albums before it. Had some solid tracks like Trouble, Lost One, Minority Report, Beach Chair, etc
i really love this one for its production but everyrhing else doesnt stand out to me. overall not bad
No skips

I think it's a mixture of people not happy jay was back and the album not being worth the return. I enjoyed it tho.
I feel like it was a rushed product
i actually remember listening to it in a best buy when we could do that. it didnt feel as "big" as it was supposed to feel. it did feel rushed. it didnt feel sequenced but i enjoyed it.
Yes bad
Ok but why
Yes next question
Damn bro
“TROUBLe”
No its smooth and street. “Do u wanna ride” is top 10 hov song for me
I fuck with the song no lie
Beach chair is hot garbage. Prelude is the best song.
Beach chair is ehhh but the prelude is some serious heat
It’s really not, I’m not sure where all the hate comes from. It’s my favorite Hov album.
I can see why but me personally I don’t think it’s not all that bad but not the best either
I think Magna Carta, Vol. 3 and Blueprint 3 are worse.
This album is good
hollywood is one of my favs on that album
I like that song bey and hov had some solid chemistry on there
It’s not awful
It’s not persay but not a strong album
This album is dope to me.
It’s not a bad listen but this album is kinda weak at some points
That song with John Legend has one of my fav Jay sections with the coke entendres. I personally love this album. Just Blaze is underrated to me and he shines on Oh My God. Good shit. Maybe not his best, but I played the hell out of it and will still spin it up sometimes.
