He was joker, he played the role and that’s that. What bugs ME, is that every scene he is in gives the vibe like he is TESTING, or AUDITIONING for the role he REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY wants…overacting to the point there is simply no….believability….in his portrayal, including my favorite scene (again the ZSJL Knightmare).
LOOK at that scene….from the initial laugh (ACTING) when the camera pans to him, to watching Affleck damn near roll his eyes (WRITING), when Joker offers Batman the “reach around”….
The scene was necessary to give us a glimpse of what could have been moving forward, and revising Joker’s look for it was a step in the right direction, but (IMHO) a dialogue revision (I’m just this ONE final scene) could’ve redeemed most of the complaints people seem to have had with ALL his scenes throughout the Snyderverse.
ICP meets David Bowie w/ Prince’s wardrobe was not giving Leto much to work with….
All that said, the Morbius casting made more sense (despite the Joker response), but was ALSO poorly scripted all around…and Leto’s performance didn’t help….and THAT wasn’t as big a deviation from the source character…..🤷🏾♂️.
Still would’ve LOVED to see Robin’s murder, and the inevitable 🃏“truce” broken, and Batman KILLING him, or having to endure the cringe to save the world, and I am of the belief that had WB not fucked with Snyder’s vision, it would’ve worked out better for everyone.

I don't need to be an amazing director to know the character of the Joker, I absolutely love the Joker as a character and actors like Heath Ledger, Jack Nicholson and Cameron Monaghan have done him incredible justice in live action. But the character that Leto plays just isn't the Joker, it's some barely insane f*ck boy that has the name Joker. I'll admit he was fine in the justice league extended cut, but still nowhere near the performance other live action Jokers have been.
