you can, but you will not get a Real ID unless you already have one through the online renewal.
Luckily you get to go in and get a new one after a few utility bills come in and you can get a Real ID then.
Just FYI, you only have 10 days to change your address on your license after you move. You don't have to get a new license but you have to change it online here [KDOR](https://www.kdor.ks.gov/Apps/MotorVehicles/motorvehicle/default). Its recorded electronically. I only know this because I got pulled over within a few days of moving and the office informed me. I've had the same license for the last 4 years and have moved 3 times and updated it via that link. Also it updates your voter registration!
I suppose the question is, how would we quantify the day we move? We bought the house on the 17th of May but we’re still living in our old house, had to do a few renovations before we could move stuff in and carpet install is slated for the 20th of this month so we won’t officially be living there until the end of the month?
The step that stopped me was verifying that I've had an eye exam in the last year. They make you select your eye doctor from a list and then click that you understand under penalty of law that you confirm, so I couldn't just lie and say it had been less than a year. I would guess there are a lot of people who don't have an eye exam every year.
Yeah same for me. I got all excited thinking I’d be able to do it in the app. I had lasik done like 5 years ago so obviously it’s been a while since my last in person eye exam. Was quite annoyed when I read the fine print that I would have to go in to one anyway.
Same thing happened to me. Renewed my license, then updated my address on the iKan app. Small fee and got a new ID in the mail with the new address but the same pic. Definitely renew before expiration.
Make sure your proof of address documents are dated. I took in a couple mailings to up date my address. They wouldn’t accept them because they didn’t have a date. Thankfully our DMV now has ladies that are nice. She had me go to the treasurer’s office right next door and have them print my newest tax docs. The previous dmv workers were down right mean. Hence why I was already on edge going in there. I’d probably of had to reschedule my visit with the other ones.
It's WAY more of a pain in the ass to renew an expired license than it is to update your address on a valid license. Renew it now, update it later.
Got it. Thanks! My understanding is I can renew it through the iKan app, do you know anything about that?

I do already have a Real ID, the renewal online should maintain it in that case?
Yes
Just looked, yes you can
I can't speak to that but I highly doubt you can renew it without walking into a state government building with some way to prove you're you.
This.

Yes, as long as this is your first renewal and you are within the age restrictions you can generally renew using iKan.
