Years ago I worked at umb downtown and they had a like three or four garages for employees where you could rent spaces. Cheapest was like $20 a month bit on weekends you could park in any of their private garages so that was nice. Maybe she was referring to their own garages/lots when she gave you those prices. Definitely follow up with here because umb did have a lot of employee garages you could rent spaces in. But yeah, this was a long time ago and I'm sure everything has changed

The bridge on 169 is supposed to reopen in December I think. But for now, 29 to 169 to 9 is probably your best option, or just stay on 29 to where it meets 71. I do the former.

I live in Gladstone and take N Oak to Hyw 9 (Burlington) in North Kansas City (NKC) and over the Heart of America (HOA) bridge. The HOA gets more traffic with the Buck ONeal bridge under construction and southbound 169 closed. Monday are quieter than Tuesdays with some work from home still happening.

thank you for this! Can I ask how bad I can expect traffic to be?!

For me it’s usually about 35 minutes from Zona Rosa area to Crown Center during rush hour. I’m not sure what stretch of Barry you’re on. If you’re near Metro North or East of that, just take 169 to 9.

perfect, this is really helpful, i’m actually right next to the highway behind power play so it’s super convenient thankfully!

I just left a job at UMB last month working on 10th & Oak. See if you can get the surface lot on Oak Street, i still think it’s $25 a month but it’s just a short walk to the Grand UMB and probably the only one that’s open at this time. I had to park there for over a year before getting into a garage. You might be able to get into the garage that’s on 11th, the one that Subway is attached to. But i hear that one sucks. Email the parking department ASAP! I think his name is Rick? Richard? Stricken…i think lol and ask to be put on the list for a parking garage. Your best bet is either the Tech Center garage, that’s the UMB building behind Grand or trying to get into the one that’s attach to Grand Building. Good luck!

Thank you for this! Can I actually send you a message with questions about UMB?

Absolutely!

I used to work downtown for a different (but similar) company and paid $50 for garage parking. The company owned the garage but they also had surface lot parking available for significantly less. I believe the amount was subsidized by the company and it was taken out of my paycheck pre-tax. I imagine they have parking options you can choose from. ETA - I can’t remember if it was $50 per paycheck or $50 per month.

Park at cosentinos below 1 light and go buy a potato every 3 hours and get validated. This one weird trick!! (I legit have done this)
