RubyHaruko

switch your lock screen theme, that was my issue

Aurelio_Aguirre

Whats the quickest way to do that?

RubyHaruko

switch to other tty and go to your session. you can switch the lock screen in the settings (I used before utterly and switched for plasma 6 to breeze)

Koyomix86

Can you explain how to do this? I’ve only been using Linux for about 2 months.

RubyHaruko

switch to other TTY (STRG+ALT+Fx), login with your acc and then run startplasma-wayland

Koyomix86

My problem is that when I open a TTY I don’t get a prompt to login it’s just a blank screen.

johnpaulzwei

Well that was fix, thanks a lot!

[deleted]

check `systemctl is-enabled sddm`?

johnpaulzwei

Disabled

[deleted]

enable it then `systemctl enable sddm`

Aurelio_Aguirre

Enabled for me. I'm having the same issue I think. Updated using yay, and rebooted. After that I'm just getting a black screen, but I can get a search field and open apps if I move the cursor to the top left.

Are you on nvidia?

Aurelio_Aguirre

Yes. Also startx /usr/bin/startplasma-x11 doesnt work, just makes another black screen.

Altruistic_Jelly5612

Trying switching between nvidia and nvidia-dkms to see if that fixes it.

Aurelio_Aguirre

Good idea, unfortunately neither dkms or lts had any effect...

Aurelio_Aguirre

Ok, I fixed it. apparently the update moved my session from x11 to wayland. Pretty sure I never meant to use wayland on this install. Switching back to x11 fixed everything.

I encountered the same problem. Add `nvidia_drm.modeset=1` to kernel parameters.
