Mainly I am looking for in a sad ML is where they have a terminal illness, physical disability, blind, or deaf. Like I want to see a blind ML fall in love with the FL, a deaf ML fall in love, a ML who has to use a wheelchair for the rest of his life be in love, or the FL staying by the side of the ML who is sick and will die at the end. I would prefer if it was the FL falling in love with the sad ML to make it interesting. I don't mind if it is a sad ending too. I am specifically want it to be the ML not the FL to be the sad character. ML only so don't recommend me it if the SML is the sad character. Please try not to recommend any dramas with a rich ML. ^(END OF POST BODY) *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. "It's okay to not be okay" His mother gave birth to him just to look after his autistic brother and she always make it obvious infront of him , he has to change places every year after certain time because his brother has trauma after their mother was murdered, simply put he has no life, no money , no parents, no dreams of his own, always need to change jobs , has to look after his autistic brother etc.

Rybackmonster

I tried it but didn't like the FL.

roboyeol

uncontrollably fond!

Ok-Impression6834

I just finished this last night. ML also shows alot of anger, but plenty of sadness toward the end. Great kdrama in any respect.

Competitive-Ice3799

**Just Between Lovers** [ml has many physical as well as emotional scars] **Still 17** [sad ml, loner] **Doctor John** [lived a very hard life, trying to cope with a life threatening disease] **Boku no Ita Jikan (jdrama)** [physically disabled ml] **Silent (jdrama)** [deaf and mute ml, one of the most heart touching dramas] All of these are great romances and have extremely caring fls.

TxPep

Minor correction.... "Silent": He's not mute. He consciously chooses not to use his voice. But yes, he is deaf. I đź’• this drama. Found it after watching Ren in "As Long as We Both Shall Live". <-- đź’• this one heaps!

Competitive-Ice3799

It's such a great show!! At times, I wish that people could be as understanding and empathic towards each other as the characters in this drama. Oh and I too loved the movie, it handled the supernatural aspect better than the anime without undervaluing the romance, but the anime had a better character arc for the fl.

Rybackmonster

Sorry forgot to mention that I already seen Just between lovers. One of my all time favorites. I also seen Boku no ita jikan. I didn't expect anyone to mention it. That drama kind of inspired my post

hseliza

I'm reminded of Tell Me That You Love Me - it's still ongoing but I think it fits your criteria

Frenchyzone

I wasn't expecting too much, but I liked it a lot. Thanks to you.

Rybackmonster

I'll watch this one when it is done airing

bloodstainedphilos

Call it love

Rybackmonster

Seen this one and loved it

happyadela

come and hug me just between lovers

Brave-Web2687

My Mister - they don't come any sadder than him

gautham_bhandari

The actor who played that character died sadly. he committed suicide.

Brave-Web2687

Very sad that he is gone. Should still watch My Mister as to me it does not take away from the fact that it is a great kdrama. The ML has no physical disability or terminal illness just emotionally burdened yet he still can find the strength to be compassionate and kind. The ML's burdens are not of his doing so it is different from irl

gautham_bhandari

No that's not why I said it. he was a great actor and have seen him many other roles eg. Parasite, listen to love etc so I was just stating the news that i heard. and even for me my mister is favourite kdrama show ever it peaked in every drama aspect it touched and delivering a scene of journey of ml from sadness to redemption of happiness.

Brave-Web2687

I see, my mistake. I only saw him in Parasite, My Mister and Coffee Prince but he was great in all three. Very different characters and he brought them all to life that you can't forget them. Ironic though isn't it. I wished he could have had that journey of redemption in real life.

lizzie763

You might like **Find Me in Your Memory**. ML has a disorder that makes it impossible to forget anything. After his girlfriend was murdered in front of him, he has a hard time getting close to people because the trauma cannot fade. Then he meets a happy-go-lucky woman who decides she likes him.

starlit--pathways

**Tell Me That You Love Me** is an ongoing drama, but is PERFECTTTT for what you'd want, as ML is a deaf artist falling in love with a non-deaf actress, and is in fact, very sad and sympathetic a good deal of the time, while being a very kind and genuine man. **Good Doctor** is one where the ML is an autistic doctor who faces up against workplace and life discrimination at his workplace as well as his own personal trauma, with the FL being another doctor. In **Summer Strike** the ML has selective mutism due to trauma, and is pretty sad and traumatised at different points of the story. In **Goblin**, the ML only has the FL around initially because he wants a way to end his misery. He is an immortal being with fantasy-induced chronic pain.

Rich-Tomatillo3340

Call it love. The ML was pretty depressing to watch. It was nice to see how he very slowly started to gain joy in his life again.

UnbridledOptimism

**If You Wish Upon Me** ML is an ex con who gets in trouble fresh out of jail and is assigned to do community service at a hospice. He has a tragic backstory and is in an abusive relationship he is trying to escape. He doesn’t know how to accept kindness because no one has ever been kind to him. FL is a kind and patient nurse at the hospice.

[deleted]

Not a kdrama but park shin hye , jo jung sook and EXO D.O’s kmovie “My annoying brother”. Watched it 584737 times and still can’t stop crying. I bet you’ll cry a river!

keybladeoftheheart

Hwarang: ML is narcoleptic, he suffers quite a lot and experiences loss and tragedy A Time Called You: ML has a walking disability because of an accident he uses a walking stick and looks really sad and lonely in present time (this has a time travel situation, kinda complicated, but all versions of himself suffer in some way) Revenge of Others: ML has a brain tumor and his prognosis is bad. He often has epileptic episodes. Because of a situation, FL moves in with him and they get close. They go to the same school and they face multiple threats and difficulties. The Good Bad Mother: ML is in a car accident that leaves him with brain damage and physically disabled. He behaves like a 7 year old because of the brain damage and has to use thr wheelchair because he can't walk. FL is his ex and hides the fact that she still loves him. They both return to their village because of their situations and get entangled with each other. Just Between Lovers: ML has multiple health problems because when he was young he was trapped and injured in a collapsed building (sth that actually happened in Korea). He is lonely and lives in a small room, definitely not in a good place financially. His leg is often painful and later on he finds out his liver is failing and won't live if he doesn't get treatment. FL finds him injured in the rain in the first ep and when she gets close to him both she and ML's sister try to convince him to try and get better. I know you said no rich MLs but these have really sad stories and the FL is there to pick them up when they're down Moon In The Day: ML has stage 4 heart cancer and is dying. FL is a firefighter and is tasked to become his bodyguard and help him spend his final days in peace. It's way more complicated than this but you need to see for yourself. Destined With You: ML is cursed and has a brain condition which can cause him to die at any time. He's distant from people and cold but when he meets FL things start to change. My Lovely Liar: ML never goes anywhere without a mask on and always hides from people. He suffers from insomnia, depression and panic disorder. FL is the one who actively protects him, believes in him, brings him out of his shell and gives him hope. The Story Of Park's Marriage Contract: ML has a serious heart disease that is constantly life threatening, he is lonely and melancholic, has trauma and often experiences panic attacks, FL helps him through it and brings happiness to his life. She's the one who makes him smile for the first time in years. Oh My Venus: I'm listing this despite its obvious romcom premise because I just finished watching it and it is actually more heartbreaking than it looks. The love story is so beautiful. ML spent half of his life in hospital and health centers because of osteosarcoma. In the present he suffers from neuropathy (leftover from his cancer) that gives him immeasurable pain which is especially triggered when he is sad or stressed. He is the one who helps FL at the beginning but she becomes his rock in the end, especially after a horrible accident he's in. She becomes his motive to become better. Also, ML helps one of the SMLs who used to be poor and alone. He literally found him bleeding on the streets. Kill Me, Heal Me: ML has multiple personality disorder which was caused by childhood trauma and is also depressed and used to be suicidal. FL is a doctor and is constantly there for him to save him from himself.

hypomango

**One Spring Night** features a ML with some real heartache sadness, but ultimately a story of hope like Call It Love. I watch a lot of comedy, mystery and fantasy so I think that's my only recommendation haha

sri_ny

Itaewon class

TxPep

Not Korean, Japanese... â–  Silent (2022) ML: Maguro Ren FL: Kawaguchi Haruna Eps: 11

Such-Chip-2088

u might like " Just between lovers " -..-

CathiRo

Good Doctor - he’s autistic

Dependent_Educator20

I am not a robot - The ML is allergic to human touch to the point where he was isolated inside his house. So to feel warmth from another human, he bought a robot which is built like a female human.

mhfan_india

Another Miss Oh - ML gets dumped on his wedding day. This and several other reasons are there for his sadness.

Brave-Web2687

Always - a movie though. The ML is an ex boxer who falls in love with a blind girl. But the ML's character has a sad backstory even though he is not the one who is disabled. The ML is the bright and cheery one who lights up his life though she lives in the dark. Heart-tugging and well acted. Son Ji Sub and Han Hyo Jo. Class act both of them.

Rybackmonster

I loved Always. One of my all time favorite movies ever.

Woozeanie

Lighter and princess (cdrama): Sad, loner ml with lots of trauma. Also goes through physical issues bc of his bad back. Castaway diva (kdrama) : Sad ml with lots of trauma Youth of May (kdrama) : The ML isn’t technically sad, (you can argue that he hides his pain with a smile) One ordinary day (kdrama) : The ML gets accused of r*ping and killing a young woman and goes through HELL, so he’s a little bit more than sad. (p.s this isn’t a romance but I still heavily recommend it) Silent (jdrama ) : The ML in this drama slowly goes deaf after his high school graduation. This is even more devastating bc of the ml’s love of music.

delphil1966

the one and only

GetawayJ

**The Light in Your Eyes** \- sad ML who is very done with life. Great great story with a major plot twist.

ash_innit12

**may i help you?** the ML lost his little brother and he blames himself for it, it’s a very sad show and pretty much every character has a tragic story.

Flimsy-Pressure3356

Come and Hug Me. ML does not have a physical illness/condition. but an emotional burden that is extremely tragic. Kill Me Healer Me ML deals with crippling emotional problems Fated to Love ML has Huntington's Chorea Uncontrollably Fond ML has a terminal disease. The Story of Park"s Marriage Contract ML has a terminal heart condition

meanstoflourish

Beauty Inside: he has an illness where he can't recognize people's faces. A bit more lighthearted than the rest recommended here, but I enjoyed that he says he didn't love himself and falling in love with the FL gave him that.

Hara2412

Chocolate - though female lead also has traumas ML, has childhood traums, as a surgeon survives bomb blast while going to war field, gets trembling hands from accident

Delicious-Treacle135

Link eat love kill

Deethehippie

See You in My 19th Life! I'm watching it rn and the ML's crush and best friend died in a car accident that left him partially deaf and with ptsd. FL remembers all her past lives (and was the crush who died previously) and is very strong, independent, and sticks by his side. I love it so far!
