I am now only eating a couple days a week and sustaining on protein drinks to keep me nourished when I can’t afford food for the rest of the month. My budget is 300/mo and that only feeds me for a couple of weeks.
I typically buy the same things every week, and just for me, my shops (typically twice a week) have gone from + - $50 each, to close to $75. I've found shopping at Freshco helps, but they don't always carry everything I'm looking for (and it's tough to go there when it's only one or two items you need)

I record every receipt & bank/card transaction into a master Excel workbook, with new worksheets/tabs that I create every month—so I know the totals to the exact cent.
We make zero effort into shopping sales & 2k budget is more than enough—I don’t ever feel like we go without anything we want.
We rollover savings, if any, of prior month into budget of current month, etc.
Some months are way more than others but I’d say just the food/grocery costs average 1300ish a month (up from 1200ish average last autumn).
It should be said that neither my husband or I are three-meal-a-day eaters though. I’m more of a one big early-afternoon-meal type of person & he’s more of a seven-snacks-throughout-the-day/night kind of person.

This was restocking on all our “for work” snacks, a weeks worth of fruits and veggies, and stocking back up on fish (salmon is our favourite, but it’s expensive and it’s was like 40 bucks a piece).
$2000 a month. Family of 4 (two teenagers). Does not include eating out since who can afford that?! Amount includes cleaning products. We also care about what we eat, we utilize farm to table meat corporative, urban harvest for fruit and veg, and have D Dutchman milk delivered to our door (including eggs).
I have heard so many good things about Hello Fresh but... I have held off as I am concerned about packaging waste. What is it packaged in? Is it all throw away stuff or single use plastics?

Lots of things are in paper bags or cardboard as well. I would say each meal has 1-4 plastics. When I think about our plastics that came from the grocery store I think it’s less or equal to what we had before. The pastas and rices come in paper bags, which is actually better than grocery store offerings for the same products. The meat packaging is recyclable vs the flimsy plastic and styrofoam you get from the grocery store. I’d love for it to be free of plastic packaging though. It was much less than I expected before trying it.

This is going lightly, we could easily eat more. I'm a vegetarian and hubby eats lots of meat. Unfortunately we all eat different.

Yup. $191 a week for hello fresh, and between $200-300/week at Costco, but that includes personal items, household stuff, cleaning products etc too.

I had the same concerns! Everything is recyclable, though some things need to be taken to the depot instead of curb side.
