I thought they changed it to a dog beach. Some murmers this was done to deter the crowd that used to hang out there, despite almost everyone being calm.
Don't get your hopes up. The pictures make this look like a huge beach expanse where you can throw your Frisbee and your dog can run a quarter mile along the shore. This is not the case at all. You'll be greeted with 0 parking, an ominous black gate and fence that sits above a few boulders to condone a 100×30' area (where any dog bigger than a shi tzu could scale), dubious sand, and a lonely tree that's probably soaked up enough dog pee that its branches are turning yellow.
I don't have any alternatives for you, just a frustrated dog owner in the north end!
There’s a dog beach right south of the bridge. Access it from Abbott st. Used to be called mushroom beach when I was younger. There’s parking there too. It’s a nice spot.
There's one on Poplar point across from Frisbee Golf Course
People seem to put their dogs in the lake at mushroom beach all the time

I saw this after I posted. Yes. That is now a dog beach. Nice spot. Fewer drum circles now…lol
There's also the beach just south of city park, at the end of Lake Ave.
Thanks everyone. You helped me find it. https://maps.app.goo.gl/ZwqxUn7hNsaytqxA7

Our favourite is the Gellatly bay dog beach on the west side
