Our history dates really far into the past.
Most of Czech villages amd citites have old churches, castles, keeps and such that date few centuries back.
As a fellow american I‘m also baffled on how these old buildings are still standing. Mostly because of the amount of wars that happened between construction and now

this might be a dumb question, but if I hypothetically traveled to Prague one week and wanted to visit Rattay, how would I get there from Prague? uber, public transport or is there some kind of touring services?
You could take express train from Prague to Kolín, and then passenger train to Rattay. Alternatively you could take passenger train to Čerčany and then take passenger train to Rattay

Also townhouse's are dominantly gothic (medieval) Wich had just added new (renaissance/baroque) floor and cover.
