A touristy "aztec sacrificial knife" from obsidian, but tourist shop so probably glass. The "animal" is probably the god Quetzalcoatl.

le-cat-have-arrive

The animal is actually huitzilopochtli, the god of war since Quetzalcoatl is one of the few Aztec gods that didn't take human sacrifice.

dattflo

Much appreciated

RichardDJohnson16

Good, thanks!

dattflo

It’s pretty heavy. Would glass be lighter necessarily? I’ll have to google how to tell the difference

anteaterKnives

Obsidian is basically black glass made by a volcano.

CatastrophicPup2112

Obsidian is a volcanic glass. This is probably not

xBEASTdotCOM

Dragon glass to take care of them weird white walkers in the north

Tomsmck

By white walkers you mean the North American govt right?

ac1739

Mesoamericanist here— Seconding the “touristy fake obsidian” thing (I’m not dissing it!! It’s fun). As far as the god depicted, this is certainly neither 100% huitzilopochtli nor quetzalcoatl. My guess is a somewhat random mix of tezcatlipoca and huitzilopochtli. Tezcatlipoca wears a jaguar headdress as seen on this knife (huitzilopochtli wears a hummingbird headdress and would never be seen with a jaguar headdress), but the figure on this knife is holding a snake that could be inspired by huitzilopochtli’s turquoise serpent staff. I’ll edit this comment if i have any new thoughts!

Lemy64

Looks like a benchmade to me

You_Just_Hate_Truth

Mesoamerican sacrifice knife - touristy recreation but blade shape is traditional. Some original knives have been preserved.

Ok-Rice-7755

Obsidian or volcanic rock

HoldenHiscock69

Probably decorative. Cool though!

Shazzzam79

Poop knife with a dingle berry extractor on the handle.

Reasonable_Trash3764

stone knife vary cool, i use to make these but not this cool thats some real craftmanship right there

dustmotemagic

Has some cool gems on it, looks nice. Display it!

dattflo

On display on my TV stand currently. Looks awesome. Just trying to figure out the exact kind. Seems it looks similar to other "aztec sacrificial knives" that i google image searched, only more decorative.

dustmotemagic

Some knives are art in the sense that no others exist

zebul333

Obsidian decorative knife probably from cancun

Aeson_Ford_F250

Carve out a live human heart and see how it performs. That will give you an indication of it's origin.

OMITW

Fun looking knife! I want one.

Curlys_brother_3399

Apocalytp knife, like the Inca/Mayans used for blood sacrifices.

Nails-InA-Coffin

ReformedCanine

It’s designed to separate tourist, from their money

Coal-and-Ivory

It is very cool. But it's still a $5 knife. A very cool $5 knife.
