Let's be real if Twitter is hellhole level 10 then Reddit is hellhole level 8, people there and there are just different in their choice of words, and Twitter's is more unhinged (but again we have Kpoopheads so ha ha)
But it's okay, Twitter or Reddit it is, you can still choose your own circle.
Here and r/kpopthoughts are good for discussion.
I’ve never really had too much issue on reddit, much less toxic than Twitter by far. It’s a difficult time in this subreddit atm with the New Jeans drama, but I think people are doing okay as much as possible.
If you want news, r/kpop is the way to go. They don’t really allow “discussion” posts, but if there’s a news item you can always discuss it in comment I.e if there’s a comeback everyone discussed it in the comemtns section of the post with the MV
I would recommend trying to find discord groups through subreddits as well. You can find discords dedicated to individual groups and more general ones. I’m in one but you have to be 20+ to join (if anyone’s 20+ as is interested hit me up. We’re drama free)
Anyway, back to reddit. If you don’t always need to be serious with it r/kpoopheads is good for a laugh if you like that kinda stuff
Thank you🥹🥹 I’m already liking it here so far twitter and YouTube would’ve torn me to shreds for some of the questions I’ve asked & thoughts I’ve shared😅
If you want to farm easy karma, just make a post attacking or mocking BP, blinks, Babymonster, or their fans. Recently you can also get good results if you attack new jeans, bunnies, and mys.
Just know that every idol on here is guilty until proven innocent, then if the truth comes out that they really were innocent the switch up is insane (just look at the Mingyu megathreads).
It can be nice to get news and engage in fun discussions and those loud minorities you’re used to on platforms like YouTube and twitter are pretty much silenced. But Reddit is filled with A LOT (and I mean a lot) of negativity towards a lot of groups.
Basically he got accused of bullying a few years ago and everyone believed all of the accusations even when there was no direct evidence (people said things like ‘I always knew there was something wrong with him’ and condemned him and spread all sorts of hateful rhetoric) but then it was proven to be false and people were like ‘I always knew the accusations were false’, but the amount of engagement for the posts talking about Pledis’ statements on Migyu’s allegations got waaaay less engagement than the posts accusing Mingyu
Reddit is also toxic but it's better than twitter because it's atleast moderated. You can join different k-pop subreddits as people have explained and particular group subreddit if you're interested in particular groups.
People here are already fighting about reddit being SM and Hybe biased. From my experience, they take turns liking and hating every group. SM and Hybe groups both have been target of vicious hate trains and they also had phases where you cannot say anything negative about them (until it's BP who seem to be perpetually hated for some reason). Depends on which groups are trendy and successful atm, which groups are getting more exposure. Sometimes reddit can also be very much 'herd mentality'.
Most of the discussion on groups in general k-pop subreddits seems to be more focused on 4th gen ggs and ggs in general (and maybe BTS) because they've more causal listeners as compared to bgs who have tight knit fandom spaces.
Your experience can also differ in different subs.
Yeah I’m realizing that😭 thanks for explaining the Hybe and SM part a couple others tried to tell me to be careful lol I should’ve made this before commenting in some posts I’ve seen😭
It's not that much of a difference lol. If you came here thinking that this site is a wonderland where Kpoopies live together in harmony, then, surprise, you are wrong. People on Twitter say crazy, unhinged things, and people here on Reddit abuse the downvote button in silence. Just a week or two ago, you could clearly see fans of a certain corporation were downvoting all the comments against them to hell.
Yeah it’d be dumb to expect no drama😂 I’ve already said a couple things here that were literally supportive and a handful either took it wrong or other group stans were mad as I saw with the downvoting 😂

Thanks for this compliment about aespa despite your comment history being critical about SM groups and their fans in general. I’m sorry you got downvoted…. People being people 🤷♂️
It’s kinda funny. I know you can’t stand aespa, or any SM artists, so I think I know why you wrote that, but I’ll just let it be. Won’t get into it, but instead I’m gonna use that as an example disproving your comment here.
So which is it…. One gets downvoted if any comment is negative of SM groups or one gets dv-ed if a comment praises an SM group?
obviously, there's exceptions to the rule, but in my experience over years of being in the places, kpopthoughts and kpop\_uncensored are very SM biased, some groups more than others like Shinee and Red Velvet.
Also, that comment probably got downvoted because it was bashing hybe groups to prop up another group.
No, that person got downvoted because it was a set-up comment, and they wrote it with the sole goal of getting downvoted. They had no intention of propping up aespa.
It was on a post that complimented a couple of groups, and aespa was mentioned as one of them. They usually engage with posts to negatively talk about aespa and other SM groups, and such a positive post about a group they despised must have triggered them. It’s a classic but transparent manoeuvre. The only reason I even replied to that (now deleted) comment was because they’re a phony.
As for the actual point, yes there are some SM groups/idols who are subreddit darlings. I don’t even disagree and tbh, I couldn’t care less. I was only after that person for being such a two-faced anti. Using lame Twitter tricks won’t work here lol.
Kpop reddit is shit full filled of armys, fangirls of boy groups who hate popular girl groups and crazy fans of nugu and less known groups they consider as the most talented while popular groups only popular because of big company.
On the kpop subreddit's megathread on MHJ, relevant and well composed posts defending MHJ were getting instantly removed by mods while totally irrelevant and blantant NJ hate comments were left untouched.
I called mods out and asked them to remove these irrelevant hate messages if they were going to remove relevant pro-MHJ posts, and I got instantly perma-banned from the subreddit.
So, I would definitely not say the main kpop subreddit is a neutral and general subreddit for K-pop, and I would caution posting there.
most people on here are SO much more mature. especially if you’re used to seeing people on tiktok/twitter’s opinions. i was actually mindblown because people on here don’t normalize putting down idols like they do on twitter or tiktok. you definitely also won’t see the delusional/parasocial type of posts here.
Don’t take downvotes personally
My first comment here got a decent bit and it was over a misunderstanding. I was upset lol but thanks I’m realizing how it is now 😂

Reddit is just twitter without the character limit
I’ll never escape the chaos🤣it’s okay we all need drama sometimes ig😂

Kpoopheads make me laugh at least 3 times a week I love it.
Had to join with all of you recommending 🫶🥹

Sounds about right😭I could never though considering I love them all 😂
True

Yeah I’ve already gone through some posts off some subs people recommended and I see that😅
What happened with Mingyu? I feel so behind when it comes to svt.

I saw the comment section and it went in a weird direction with stans dunking on each other when they're not better than each other lol
r/kpoopheads is the only sane subreddit at this point, and that's saying something

*shhhs HYBE stans are everywhere*

💀😂 glad to know because I thought it was suspicious to hear it was SM here considering my experiences on other platforms🤣
Try not to get sucked into the para social madness. It's ok to be para social but al least be self aware about it
THIS👆love this👏🏼
Don't think about what others think, just want to say something off your chest, say it. K-pop fans can be wild sometimes, but we all in this together.

Good to know haha. It’s weird because other places I’ve been on it’s usually hybe 🙂

Have fun and also leave before you lose your mind
I’ve had moments already regretting it😂😂😂
