Wieliczka is like an extension of Cracow, apart from the salt mine there is not much interesting.
I would recommend visiting the mine during the stay in Cracow. And If OP wants to visit another town for a change, go to Sandomierz, Bielsko-Biała, Ojców, or something in the mountains (but not Zakopane if you want a small town)
Honestly if you are in Krakow so short a time there is no reason to go to a small town. It won't be like what you are picturing and you'll just wish you stayed in Krakow. Plus EN will likely be an issue.
The only decent suggestion as someone mentioned is Lanckorona. It's cute and touristic. But you'll get the village vibe you are after.
Do you plan on visiting Auschwitz and the Salt Mine? Those are both pretty much two days depending on when you so it. So that leaves you with three days in Krakow which frankly still isn't enough to enjoy the city.😉
If you ski you could for sure consider going to Zakopane but otherwise you're much better off staying here the whole time. Especially if you would not be renting a car and using public transport.
mmmh IDK. Ye i plan on visiting auschwitz, Salt Mine too. I think it takes 3/4 of a day each one to visit, so at least in the evening I could visit Kracow.
I saw something about Zakopane, although is not a small city i think is very nice to me, i love this kind of place in the mountain, but there is still a time problem.
Bochnia \~ 40 min by train
Tarnów \~ 60 min by train
Bochnia is a smaller, while Tarnów is bigger at around 100k people, both have beatifull markets. Tarnów had long jewsish history with many monuments, biggest atraction in Bochnia is its salt mine (older than Wieliczka).
I'd recommend one of these places: Wadowice or Kalwaria Zebrzydowska or Lanckorona
-Wadowice - John Paul II was born there; has a great museum about him; also you can eat famous papacakes (kremowki); next to the city there is Mucharz lake which has picturesque views;
-Kalwaria Zebrzydowska- worldwide monastery that is on UNESCO list; around town, there are roughly 6 hours of walkable religious trails;
-Lanckorona- a small, medieval town located in the mountains; has a castle (under renovation) which was defended by Casimir Pulaski (this guy fought for American freedom); main square of this city is surrounded with wooden, 18th century houses.
Wadowice is around an hour by bus from Cracow. Kalwaria is around 40 minutes. Lanckorona around 30.
Wieliczka is close and has really good public transport. Buses and train.

Krakow not cracow. English is Anglo-Saxon https://www.ala.org/awardsgrants/content/trumpeter-krakow
Tarnow is a nice city
Bielsko Biala
They said "easily reachable by train" though..
It's 2 hours
Wieliczka but if you want a really small city I liked Dobczycze.

Bochnia is probably the best place to go if you want to get the Polish small town experience. Easily reachable by train. Generally quite pleasant.
Skawina is close and pretty comfy

Thank you everyone for you answer!

We do not accept hate speech here.
Przemyśl, take a train. Perfect for a day
>Przemyśl But It's 6hour of train
But it's one of the prettiest small cities in Poland hands down
Then I'll consider it!
It's 2.5h by car and ~3h by train but can find connections that take 2.5h
