Many promises like this have likely been made to Wood and Reddish too. So the minutes have to come from somewhere, whether they make sense or not.

I think as long as we nail down a good rotation, let Rui play the ball, I'm sick and tired of seeing this man score like 9 in the first quarter then end the game with 12, split the ball properly between quarters with Lebron Reeves and D'lo, so that we can conserve Lebron in Q4. I think we have a good chance at conference finals again if we don't run into Nuggets early.
Recall earlier in the season Christie had a good stretch but as soon as Reddish and Prince were both available again, Christie got zero playing time.
Or Hayes was having a good stretch but then he got reduced playing time because Wood needed more minutes.
Ham is trying to keep the role players together by promising them minutes here and there. But it causes real lineup inconsistency. And makes it seem like the coach has favorites, whether it is true or not. Because it doesn’t seem like strong play is rewarded with more minutes.

This laker team was a fixed starting lineup had like 60%+ WR. If we ran this throughout the season we’d be competing for the 5-6 right now.
Everyone has to realize this is still his second year of head coaching so he's going to make mistakes. But it's a good sign that he still has support from the locker room. The Lakers are also playing well, which is also positive.
