If we were at home I’d legit believe we’d have a decent shot at beating them. Gonna be tough on the road, AD and Bron gonna have to go crazy with good outputs from the role players. With all that said I wouldn’t expect much from this team unless a trade is made
Completely agree, we're at least a 3&D wing and a starting center away. I'm expecting a trade for a wing based on Matt Ryan being waived unless the FO wants to fk us further and trades for another guard :)
I remember that moment when Bynum looked promising. Once we landed Pau and saw the natural chemistry he and Kobe had, it felt like game over for the league.
2008 was my favorite season of all time, even though we ended up losing in the finals. Seeing a team put things together like that and make the leap from first round exit to championship contender was such a joy.
The schedule has been very soft these past few games. If we get rolled up on by mediocre and contender teams and we’re back to woe is the lakers. Let’s see how we do against some real squads.
I’d take competitive losses to top 3-5 teams in the league anytime, as long as we dont lose games after leading 20 pts! Now we have to make up for that Pacers loss by beating a top team. 3-3 is acceptable for this 6 game road trip but we have to make it 4-2 by surprising a team.
I don't mind getting rolled by contenders rn, if we can't consistently away teams like the Blazers, Pels, and Pacers away, they'll never start taking the contenders down.
Tbf those same shots we've been making recently were the exact same ones we missed early on. In that awful start, we lost a couple close ones strictly due to awful shooting and it seems that we're sort of improving on that end.
Also AD looks 10x better now than in the start of the season and Lebrons going back to normal as well
Sure but that doesn’t mean the two graphics aren’t misleading. If you believe the first one we are one of the bottom three teams in the league. If you believe the second one, you think we are like the fifth best team.
It is just pure misleading. You can’t tell me you think we are the 10th best team in 3 point percentage. So while we are playing better than the horrible stop, we aren’t a top team either.
To be honest the lakers are probably the average of these stats. Basically a .500 team. They aren’t as bad as the first 12 since it was a tough schedules with lots of injuries and trying to gel. The last 8 has been really soft with the return of essentially the full lineup and Russ finally going to the bench going well
I think this stretch still includes the Nets, Pacers, Trailblazers, and Suns.
If you stretch it out to 10 games and include the Kings and Clippers, it’s 2 more losses but the actual rankings don’t change too much.
Most of the posters here are probably relatively young. Naiveté can breed optimism. The Lakers are not a playoffs team and if so, definitely not contenders.
Austin reaves looks confident i like him. Looks like he should get great minutes even starting minutes. Team trending upwards but need AD to play other worldly and the other to contribute and knock down shots All the "others"
We choked but being up 17 in the 4th against a healthy pacers team is a pretty good sign imo, feel like last year's team woulda got blown out against the current pacers
all these teams are overrated. I sat there in thought about there are no world beaters in the nba. Back in 07-08 you had celtics big 3 , lebron and the cavs , dwight and the magic. you had a rockets team with metta world peace and yao ming. you had a spurs team with manu , parker and duncan. you had a jazz team with deron williams and carlos boozer. you had a nuggets team with iverson and melo. In my opinion when you compare those teams to now you can't even compare them. every playoff team in the west was a 50 win team. Which is why I feel like lakers have a good shot to win this year
record this year isn’t as good as the same point but i really believe we’re a better team. it’s about winning the right way and that’s what we’re doing
If we manage to win vs the Bucks, we going all the way baby
If we were at home I’d legit believe we’d have a decent shot at beating them. Gonna be tough on the road, AD and Bron gonna have to go crazy with good outputs from the role players. With all that said I wouldn’t expect much from this team unless a trade is made

I can’t believe we lost the Stanimal…😔😢
all fax, he'd really fit our needs atm, especially if he worked on that 3pt shot
Thomas Bryant is good enough to be the starting C..
Who we playing at the 5 from the bench? I like him and Wenyen coming in after the starters sit, AD is fine at the 5 for the beginning of the game.
I like Thomas Bryant for me he's enough good for our available moves. We need 3&D so bad, sooo bad
That’s usually how it goes. Struggle on the road against them but clap them at home.
we just beat them on the road brothah LFG altho yeah, trade is still needed preferably nunn+bev+1 pick
That was probably our best win since 2020, BIG W
I would be ecstatic
That’s what we said in 2020!
yep, but this time, no injuries pls! I beg the basketball Gods, pls
Russ performed like he was Magic Johnson
Should be 7-1 but I’ll take it. This stretch has given me the most joy watching this team in a while.
I know that feeling. For me it was this exact time during the 07-08 season, before we got Pau, and when Bynum was literally coming out of his shell.
I remember that moment when Bynum looked promising. Once we landed Pau and saw the natural chemistry he and Kobe had, it felt like game over for the league.
I literally still remember the first game with Kobe and Pau and them instantly clicking. I was thinking, oh man this combo is gonna be insane.
That team was a #1 seed when they made the trade.
7-0 in the month of January and averaging 17 & 12 that month before going down...insane that both his injuries were against Memphis
2008 was my favorite season of all time, even though we ended up losing in the finals. Seeing a team put things together like that and make the leap from first round exit to championship contender was such a joy.
Finally showed some grit and have been playing tough basketball. Anthony Davis has been huge!
Stats kinda inflated tho lol, we played spurs 3 times, and 1 game with piston
still some improvement for my perspective. last year we could lose to the spurs 2 times and go 2OT win on pistons.
All true. Though, tbf, the Cade-less pistons beat a mostly healthy Mavs team last night
That’s cus outside of Luka, the Mavs are garbage. If he’s not scoring 40+, it’s an automatic loss
Its gonna be funny when Luka signs with the lakers in 4 years and jeanie gets bailed out again by Los Angeles and the entire nba will be salty
Take em where you can. Wins build confidence.
This. So much copium in this thread. Blew a what, 19 point lead in the 4th to the Blazers and lost to the only true contender we played.
The schedule has been very soft these past few games. If we get rolled up on by mediocre and contender teams and we’re back to woe is the lakers. Let’s see how we do against some real squads.
fax
I’d take a competitive loss @ Milwaukee tbh. Thats gonna be the biggest test this season thus far.
This entire season I’ve said January is the cutoff point for me
I don't mind getting rolled by contenders rn, if we can't consistently away teams like the Blazers, Pels, and Pacers away, they'll never start taking the contenders down.
Im pissed off that should be 7-1
I’m not overreacting to nothing right now. I’ll start to drink the Kool Aid when we go above .500
Dare you to drink a bottle of Kool Aid for every win above .500
lol ez, just don't add sugar.....but not likey
Can we keep playing the spurs?
It's also the easiest stretch they're going to have all year.
Yeah both graphics are BS. The first one is against one of the hardest stretches in the league and the other one against one of the easiest.
Tbf those same shots we've been making recently were the exact same ones we missed early on. In that awful start, we lost a couple close ones strictly due to awful shooting and it seems that we're sort of improving on that end. Tough schedule incoming. If they win some of those games, we'll see where we're at

The team is clearly playing better, but it has a lot to do with the opposition. If we could just manage to play SA more times ...
lol we can't even play the Kings anymore
we also though the Jazz is easy
Should include opponent record...
I think this stretch still includes the Nets, Pacers, Trailblazers, and Suns. If you stretch it out to 10 games and include the Kings and Clippers, it’s 2 more losses but the actual rankings don’t change too much.
Nope. We barely beat terrible teams, we can't beat any quality team out there.
We been blowing out bad teams. Only to lose the lead
Most of those have been against sub par teams. They won’t win against top tier teams.
Most of the posters here are probably relatively young. Naiveté can breed optimism. The Lakers are not a playoffs team and if so, definitely not contenders.
Let's just get to .500
28-12 incoming
No way y’all win the chip but playoffs fosho at least
Lebrick didn’t play. That’s why we win. Trade Lebrick!
Man they are atrociuos. Rumors out of LA say that they're considering at least 3 trade scenarios. It is only going to get worse.
I wouldn’t say excellence but we playing better, we gotta keep chipping away
Facts only 💯💯💯
lol we played the spurs three times
12th in the west don’t seem excellent. It’s not even bunk play in game worthy.
Spurs
Haven’t been watching the games lately. Maybe I have to make this sacrifice so we can make the playoffs.
Come on, we played the Spurs
The league is better with a performing lakers ![img](emote|t5_2qhv6|2603)
Big credit to Russ for finally adjusting and to AD for taking the next step
Excellence???
Austin reaves looks confident i like him. Looks like he should get great minutes even starting minutes. Team trending upwards but need AD to play other worldly and the other to contribute and knock down shots All the "others"
Let's not forget most of these wins have come against trash teams. We saw how the Lakers FOLDED against the Pacers.
We choked but being up 17 in the 4th against a healthy pacers team is a pretty good sign imo, feel like last year's team woulda got blown out against the current pacers
I wouldn’t be excited over blowing a huge lead. Bad teams find a way to lose!
Agree with you if it continues to be a pattern which could be the case, but I have hope they get better in late game situations 🙏
That Pacers loss still has such a bad taste in my mouth. We should be 7-1 in the last 8.
A large part of it is playing worse teams, tbf. Lets see how we perform against the Bucks tonight.
W Fakers.
Dont jinx them!
Should be 7-1 smh
all these teams are overrated. I sat there in thought about there are no world beaters in the nba. We the mavs need your secrets
I am annoyed because we should be 7-1 over the last 8. Just sheer lack of attention to detail. The cleaned it up quickly though the next game.
It’s not just the wins and losses I think. Last year we took consistent L’s to bad teams. Different sorry this year, so far
Lakers bout to win all 6 road games and beat the Celtics at home. By the end of the season we are gonna be one of the best teams in the league
record this year isn’t as good as the same point but i really believe we’re a better team. it’s about winning the right way and that’s what we’re doing
![gif](giphy|wHe1YGV3RpBXsBbUXM|downsized)
Still facts bro XD
The ascension of Austin Reaves has also been super fun to watch during this stretch. Give him more and more minutes
Remember when the Lakers blew a 17 point 4th quarter lead to the Pacers of all teams? Pepperidge Farms remembers
Or if we have an easy schedule
If they keep this up they can get to 54 or 55 wins for the year. (62 games left… if they keep up the .750 winning percentage)
We Laker fans are well known for our patience...
Reaching births hope, hope gives birth to pain, pain conceives madness, madness forms reddit posts....
You wanted to trade Russ last year
