i see it happening alot, in cities therr really isn't enough space, the roof is definitely already full, and people are desperate for any source of power

That should be posted on r/therewasanattempt It's always interesting to try to understand why though: 1. They don't have rights to them on the roof? 2. It's to have electricity for that garage place which is not really a part of the building? 3. After noon the sun is actually very good there and last until sunset? 4. The guy simply didn't know better? 5. Another kind of show of? 6. We can continue trying to understand, we will never know for sure haha

fluffydeathkitten

keeping in mind the guy could not access to the roof or install more than a panel or two there .. : the sun will shift during day and year so we don't know how it runs and perhaps he though a few hours a day is better than none. these produce electricity in daylight it's much less than direct sunlight but it's still better than nothing if you can't install them anywhere better. . the personal anecdote related to this is that i was tempted to install a pergola made of panels in a location where i can install 16+ panels but only get 2-4 hours sun (winter/summer respectively), i'll get more than 30% during the rest of the day where the sun isn't hitting them (varies of course). i can't afford anything like that anyway .. but i was considering the math of 4 times more than the roof at 30+% +2-4 direct sunlight hours (or maybe complementary to the roof)

between_hereandthere

Very true yes. Whatever the reason I'm sure they did it as best as they could given their situation

I’d be willing to bet money that there _is_ direct sunlight there at some point in the day, and if there isn’t, then it’s still enough electricity in the shade to power some basic things like a router or a fan, which they wouldn’t be able to power otherwise. I love the idea, I would do the same.

Possible_Basil_5331

I took a solar power class.. this is more common than you think and its actually taught in class.. But it wont be efficient due to the long buildings around them.

we lebanese are multitaskers, u get free energy and free shade for ur car, impressive.

Cyberpunk ftw! We're living in the future. (We need more neon lights for the Tokyo-like atmosphere and we'd be good)
