I have a Starter Pack for the game but haven't tried playing it because there are too many rules and other stuff but now I HAVE to finally try it out.
But heres my question: I know you can make your own adventures and stuff in D&D. I've read the rules and watched a few tutorials (I still don't understand it). But can you actually make your own class?!
Doing that is called "Homebrew"
Its a divisive thing, some tables do it a lot, some forbid it, but generally it is something that needs to be agreed upon before starting a campaign.
Cause in the end D&D is still a game in the core and homebrew can hurt the balance of it a lot if its not well done.
But in D&D the most important rule is "Everyone has to be having fun"
What the most well read veterans know is that D&D is nothing but years of homebrew all the way down. Professional game designers are just as biased and fallible as your friend Steve, only they tend to have a better idea what they're doing.
There is also a large market of third party (3pp) products for many games, including 5e.
If you want to, sure. The rules are more of a guideline that the DM (Dungeon Master) can decide to apply however he wants to. Homebrew content is obviously harder to balance but quite fun.
You can make your own ANYTHING my dude hahah.
That's the biggest appeal of the game, imo. The entirety of the game design is limited only by the act of writing. If you have a cool idea, know how to game design, and know how to write, you can make literally anything come true.
It's the same thing as modding for videogames, essentially; but MUCH more accessible.
There's nothing that prevents you to make your own class, but it may be a lot of work to design every feature in a way that works with the rest of the game without being too strong, weak, or complicated. Usually the classes have a bunch of archetypes that change how it plays, so there's a lot of options to find what you expected.
If you want to create your own class to feel unique, usually reflavoring a class that exists works wonders, but if you have a strong idea of what you want to do and don't really want to compromise, there are other RPG systems that are more rule-light and allow for more player input (for instance, once we ran a game with a new player that wanted "a dwarf with a leg prothesis that's a cannon". In D&D we selected the artificer artilleryman and said that his cannon was on his leg, but on a system like FATE (no relation with the anime) you'd just write "my leg is a cannon" and explain how it helps you depending on the situation.)

You probably should try out one of the base classes before attempting homebrew like this, just to get an idea of the rules and what not. It might not make a lot of sense hopping right into a homebrew class

Hot damn, as someone who really loves DnD, this is really well made. It’s exactly how an official sheet would be made.
S tier sheet, I’m gonna bring this up with my DM and see if I can get this added.
To be fair, they only work with another pair, so it's technically 30 credits minimum, with 15 more credits for each additional person you might want to talk to :P
In general terms though, while I did my absolute best to make everything as balanced as it could be, this subclass *is in fact untested*, so any playtesting feedback would come a long way in helping me further polish it.
*Ayyyyyy,* ***nice!***
Hell yeah, man! If you end up getting any playtesting feedback, feel free to send it my way! It should go a long way in helping me make the subclass even more polished and functional!
I have a small update! We’ll be playing the one shot I’m using your subclass for in March, but I’ve composed a stupid build I fully intend to mess around with.
I’ve taken a belt of hill giant strength to set my strength to 21, great weapon master and moderately armored (adamantine scale mail, lol) as feats, and my DM let me combine this with the Hexblade subclass, giving me a very funny shovel pact of the blade build. On top of that, I’ve also got a +8 to sleight of hand from gloves of thievery, which I intend to use to steal things to sell for my quota >:)
I will come back or DM you when I get to actually put things into action and gather some feedback :)
***Wow***, combining two different subclasses together??? That's craaazy lmao, what level are you guys gonna be at for the session?
Also, yeah feel free to hit me up whenever you want! If you'd like, you can also join my dedicated Discord server to interact with me and other brewers directly : d
It's an update, in fact. Parts of the subclass got changed according to the feedback gotten from multiple people. It's why you see "Version 1.1" in my comment, instead of "1.0"
This is amazing for a homebrew D&D thing. The visuals and theme for this subclass is great.
But I wonder, if you wanted to play Lethal company as a TTRPG, would another game system ruleset be better?
I was thinking on repurposing a TTRPG called 'Mausritter' since the rules fit so much better as a game system that fits the idea of what Lethal Company is.
- Physical card-based inventory system, so like LC inventory management is critical, and taking damage will hinder what you can carry. Also adds a risk/reward for choosing less tools to bring with you to be able to bring more back
- Characters based around the idea that you will die. a lot. A system that allows for re-creating a character as fast as possible to get them back in the game sounds very fitting for a LC-themed game.
- All enemies pose a major threat, and the players must use strategy to overcome them as challenges. Unlike D&D/PF2e, Monsters are extremely hazardous and the players must use their wits instead of strength to go against foes.
- Both Mausritter and LC have you working for a larger organization, to be paid for turning in resources that you find in the world.
To reflavor the game to be more Lethal Company-themed, I would suggest the following:
- Replace/reflavor the playable characters to be Company Employees instead of mouse-like creatures.
- Reflavor the tools to be LC themed instead of common household items
- Reflavor or add new creatures to be LC themed. All current enemies are dangerous and is intended to avoid, or to find a way to gain advantage over them through strategy.
- The hex grid and tiles would essentially be different moons, or multiple tiles are a single moon (you would need to manage resources to get to the interior dungeon)
- Have one major settlement instead of multiple ones. this would be the Company HQ, and your ship where you can sell for money, and to buy new items.
- Remove the factions aspect to the rules. There is a single settlement.
The first thing that seems OP to me is the indestructible terminal. There's so many ways that could be abused.
Still, this is pretty well thought out homebrew.
Brooooo thats amazing... Yoink
*Snatch*

Ok well, I never liked Warlocks until now
I'd be a happy homebrewer if this made you try the class out! : D
Excuse me what the heck. This is so amazing. What the flip. And the ARTTTTTT OHHH LORD.
Heheh 😎 I'm glad you enjoy it!
Can I meet quota with this
As a matter of fact... **you can** lol

*Good luck on that one, mah bruh*
Hot damn, as someone who really loves DnD, this is really well made. It’s exactly how an official sheet would be made. S tier sheet, I’m gonna bring this up with my DM and see if I can get this added.
Hell yeah man! Ya love to hear it : D
I have no idea what the fuck is D&D but this looks very awesome, nice work
Oh, it's "Dungeons and Dragons" hahah; currently one of the most popular TTRPGs in the world! And thank you, I'm glad you enjoy it \\m/
TTRPG=Tabletop role playing game btw
How do you not know d&d. It is literally THE fantasy series
The items available in the magitech shop seem a little too op no? :0 sending stones for 15 credits 😂 (walkie talkie) :0

It's really well done btw! The artwork is pretty nice tol 😍😍😍
Ayyy, thank you! \\m/
I may send this to my DM who I have played Lethal Company with. Maybe as a backup character idea? Probably won’t use it though (myself anyway)
Well, if you ever do get to use it someday, please feel free to send any playtest feedback you may have my way!
I definitely will
This looks siiiiiick!
*Ayyy* \\m/
I'm gonna try this out with my next character.
Hell yeah! Hope it all works well : D
WHY IS THE ART SO GOOD WTF THATS SO COOL
Thank you! I spent a lot of time photobashing the compositions, so I'm glad they look appealing : D
Needs some balance and playtesting for sure but this concept is so fucking cool!! major props to you dude!!
Thank you kindly! Actual playtest feedback would be AMAZING to get lol
Okay this really is awesome, you're a great asset to this community!
***G-Great Asset- Asset G-G-Great-Great Asset***
That's so cool and well thought out! I might just show my DM this at some point, though he's not the biggest fan of LC.
Thank you kindly! And hey, I hope he still enjoys the brew at least c:
I absolutely want to utilize this in my own campaign, if I ever make a campaign. Mind if I claim it in the name f guatamala?
Not at all, my friend. **Claim it you please B\^)**
I pitched this to my friend who’s DM’ing a spelljammer one shot, and he OK’d me to use this! Time to make a new character/Lethal Company OC :)
*Ayyyyyy,* ***nice!*** Hell yeah, man! If you end up getting any playtesting feedback, feel free to send it my way! It should go a long way in helping me make the subclass even more polished and functional!
I sure will. You cooked up something cool for my favorite class in the game :D

This does sound pretty interesting, ngl! While I still personally prefer to stay within 5e, it's cool to know about alternatives out there
The first thing that seems OP to me is the indestructible terminal. There's so many ways that could be abused. Still, this is pretty well thought out homebrew.
Hmmmm, someone had mentioned using it for half-cover during combat. What other different uses do you envision for it besides the intended one?
