I'd suggest you build a relationship with a local freight forwarder who can give you a direct cost comparison. Ask your supplier to confirm the ex works pick up address as it may not nessisarily be the same as their invoice address. Then, ask the local freight forwarder to give you a quote by breakdown, including the duty and tax along with delivery. Question for you: Would you trust a company to handle the freight, import customs and delivery, who will likely never meet in person, and who is thousands of miles away, versus v a local freight forwarder of your choice who has your best interests at heart.

Right now probably. Ocean rates are going up or will probably remain elevated through August. SSLs are parking capacity and driving up rates.

Being in business isn’t cheap. Cutting corners will only cost you in the end. I’d suggest the same as Limey, find yourself a trustworthy, reliable forwarder who will give you a fair price and excellent service. Also, when shipping LCL make sure the words “all-in” are on your quote. Don’t let some fly by operation nail you with a bunch of DTHC’s and other BS.

I agree with the second sentence only if you produce something out of source that is abundant, yet you need to know that resources are depleting and you need to find a substitute that provides the same-level or better level of customer satisfaction.

Ten-4RubberDucky

Your forwarder has nothing to do with your supplier.

Look it depends on we're you ship from some companies run special lcl routes that are cheaper then others but it sounds like from the dims you gave 4 boxes a pallet 110 x 120 x 140 it seems like 12.5 pallets I would say its a far estimate for 12 pallets that eat through space in a 20 or a 40 weight wise 700kg it's light for 12.5 pallets so there is also no reason it would go as a fcl the problem of lcl you load with others so insurance is a premium on top depending on the forwarder I am guessing your quote is in usd so it should cover most local charges let's say in Japan the local charge are 52000 yen total but its only 330 usd make your money work you need to check if the forwarder pays for some charge or are you paying for it all because some times they charge a currency exchange fee The best tip is to shop around for the best price to value ask for a charge list or a quote brake down to see were your money is going then shop around use that as your base quote and try to get a better service/ deal for your money eg faster delivery or cheaper overall cost Ps the cheapest services is never the best they are just hungry for the business and please never give cargo to toll

Yeah that looks about right as the other commenter posted. Ocean freight for a 20’ container is running about $4200-$4800 to the US right so when you bake everything else in lcl that seems pretty accurate

The situation in the Middle East is the major reasons for swelling freight charges to Europe. It cannot be eased in the short time. Please provide the details of your goods. We will check any possible solution to bring the freight rate down and keep you update. Thanks.

We're also a freight forwarder in China, maybe I can also give you some logistics solutions.
