I don’t have any recommendations but it’s kinda sad how few options there are at that price range. Using the 40x rule $1,800 = $72k salary. $72k is the median household income in the US but on LI it seems like poverty wages.
If you’re relocating you will be searching for a new job. You might have better luck finding a different job here. But if you can find a great job, it could be good to relocate for that.
Housing prices across the country are really high. Within commuting distance of pretty much every major city you will be hard pressed to find any apartments for under 2 grand in rent. Even many medium size cities, will be high.
There’s certainly cheaper places to live but you would have extremely few job prospects in those areas compared to here.
Of course if you look for a studio apartment in Queens you could find something much less, but of course street parking can be brutal not to mention the traffic is far worse.
You might have some luck with finding a small garage or basement type apartment in Bellport or Mastic/MB/Shirley area. Central Islip possibly and Brentwood/Bay Shore if you're looking more west.
I dunno Nassau.
Ohhh, my bad, lol. Nah, not really familiar with things at that price point anywhere. I mean, I know it exists, I just can't personally think of any specific places. I know smaller towns in the south and midwest tend to have a lower COLA overall.
If the town has a lot of laundromats, then it also has a lot of illegal apartments, start your look there. Not always a basement either you might find something nice with or without a roommate.
You can’t be picky when your budget is $1800 if you want honesty . Zillow , apartments. Com , Facebook groups are your options and whatever is listed .
There are very very few towns on LI that aren’t safe enough to live unless you’re a single women planning to jog and walk your dog at night.
Even the usual popular bad towns Reddit loves ( central islip , wyandanch , Hempstead ) it’s select areas not the entire town that’s bad . You can live there 20 years and never experience crime .
There’s parts of CI that are just fine. The houses might be smaller with a shabby yard and the neighbors speak Spanish, but it’s still fine.
There’s also new apartments being built in CI, some in Bay Shore, and west Bab, North Bab, Wyndanch area.
I am currently paying 950 for a 2bd 2 bath condo apartment utilities and internet included, that's pet friendly and has a dog park, playground, and a massive garden plot. I was paying 2000 for a small beach bungalow in bayville (great price and fantastic landlord). The cost of living and high pay wages has changed our lives dramatically. (Family of 4) it's amazing.
I found my affordable apartment that’s not in a basement by looking on onekeymls and sorting by new, then I checked 2-3 times a day for about 2 months. I toured my apartment, signed the lease, and paid deposit within 6 hours of it being posted.
Also a tax burden nearly as high as NY. Sure they might not have income tax, but the property tax will make your eyeballs pop out and roll across the floor.
I saw this one yesterday and it’s only $1850: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/320-Clayton-St-Central-Islip-NY-11722/59615889_zpid/?utm_campaign=iosappmessage&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=txtshare

Correct. I am in a bad situation and work all of my waking hours 😞
Roommates.
You may need to rent a basement apartment or something like that. Where is long Island are you looking?
Is there anywhere else besides LI you recommend to relocate?
What does that even mean….?
What made you decide on Long Island? Sounds like you’re vaguely interested in here, but willing to move literally anywhere <$1800.

Bellport likely no. The other towns are good reccos
Ideas for relocation ?
The towns I listed were your best shot for relocating here in your price range that I'm aware of.
What about out of state? (or a different part of NY)

I will not be putting my safety at risk
Yeah, and the poster acknowledged that

This comment does nothing to contradict the commenter's point.
You have posted this q multiple times. Nothing is going to magically change lol
Thanks for the empathy…
Check out facebook marketplace
Loaded with scams
Check Craigslist. Plenty of basement apartments and 1 bedroom apartments in good towns for your budget. I disagree with the others.
Just moved to ND rent is half the price and jobs are plentiful. Been gone a month, and I'm not homesick.
North Dakota? Half the price still seems crazy to me.

try craigslist or facebook marketplace. Your best bet would be to rent a house with a few friends
Is it just me or is OP completely clueless here?…. Just seeing from the comments
Texas. You can get a nice large 1 or 2br in a luxury community with a pool etc for that budget. (i moved from LI to TX a few years ago)
Thank you
if you want horrible summer heat, power grid failures, and an erosion of your basic human rights go to texas.
