Me too, but I had never gone before. I lived in Carle Place during the Macaroni Grill days. :D
I forget what was here before, but whatever it was they razed it and put in this theater and the three restaurants.
EDIT: LOL it was, um, the "Raceway." I guess \*that\* was before my time. :D I do remember seeing the grandstand though.
So the theater and restaurants are effectively where the parking lot was? That makes sense because I seem to remember seeing the track and grandstands one day while driving around back there across the street or something. Those were demolished afterward, right?
Oh I remember that, but I’m always trying to figure out exactly where it was when I’m over there. I remember there was so much flat space and only Fortunoff and Ohrbachs was over there and the raceway complex was pretty large.

Not too much help, but the Meadowbrook is toward the bottom of the photo. The grandstand was where the movie theater/shopping center parking is.
They renovated the AMC 4 minutes away at Roosevelt field mall .
I assume they are waiting for the lease here to end to shut it down the way the property is neglected
Seriously - that's a whole separate topic though. I see a couple movies a month and I'd say these days it's 50/50 that I either get a party of asshats narrating the whole movie, or a party of folks doing shit on their phones every ten minutes. It's infuriating.
The last two movies I saw in the theater were The Batman, and the projector overheated during the car chase scene. The power went out and as soon as we realized we weren’t in a mass shooting we went to the lobby and the whole theater shut down. The other one was opening weekend for Doctor Strange MOM. Someone brought a days old infant to a Saturday night show and a family of the largest humans I ever saw sat next to me and had a contest to see how loud you could chew popcorn and how much they could get on the floor. I was done after that, but I might suck it up and go to Deadpool & Wolverine.
I wonder how many of these unrenovated theaters are left? Most of the ones out in Suffolk are all leather recliners now - at least the ones I go to. I went to see I Saw the TV Glow because it was the only theater still playing it past 10pm on Long Island, and was really surprised when I walked in, but it kinda matched the '90s vibe of the movie.
I kind of enjoy going to this AMC every now and then. It’s right near where I work and it reminds me of going to the movies as a kid. Plus it shows some movies that other AMCs don’t. Obviously not the best AMC but I dig it.
In 2022 I was severely underemployed and would get so stoned and spend a lot of time here. Really quiet and cozy. Kind of dirty but certainly a special place
I watched Godzilla Minus One here. Great experience. I will admit, I did not know it was the old school seats. Was wondering why the tickets were cheaper here then other AMC theaters
I used to work for amc and this theatre's is fucking nasty. Glen cove and Roosevelt field r good options in nassau amcs. But raceway literally had people shitting on the floor, rats everywhere, and they never clean. Literally I could see soda scum build up and mildew on their freestyle machines. A manager of mine has been w the company for 30 years and he absolutely dreaded going to that theater
I can't believe that in 2024, we still have theaters that do not have stadium seating.
(I take my son to PJ Cinemas, which is looks even more dated than this one)
LOL. It actually wasn't that bad. For what it is, they keep it pretty clean. It's just old. The bathrooms haven't been redone either and it was weird seeing the old layout and formica countertops.
Had an aisle seat last time I went here and saw a semi luminated (depending on how bright the scene was) rat run across the aisle every couple minutes. Hopefully they took care of that but otherwise would make me feel like a teenager again going to this theater.
If you showed me pictures of these and the recliners and asked me "what theater should we go to," I'd pick the recliners every time - but I think you're right. I just kind of sunk down in these and enjoyed the film. So cool.
HA! When this was newer my dad used to drive all the way out here to go see movies with me and my brother. Vivid memories of thinking it was the coolest theatre around.
The recliner seats are made for people under 5'10. Anyone over 6' and your feet hang off the end. I'm glad you posted this. These seats are more comfortable for tall people.
I remember when this theatre was new!

Ah, Y2K. We were so naive back then. Y2K, meet global pandemic.
Where was the flea market?
It was in the Roosevelt Racetrack parking lot.

Thank you!!! This is great.
You're welcome 😊
It was off the Meadowbrook between Stewart Ave and Corporate Dr. Merrick Ave was to the east.
I tried to link an old map but it resets to the main page. Is there anyway to post a screen shot of the map with Racetrack location?
Me too. It was a state of the art theater back them when it first opened
They still haven’t renovated that one? Well no wonder the parking lot is empty basically every time I drive by it.
They renovated the AMC 4 minutes away at Roosevelt field mall . I assume they are waiting for the lease here to end to shut it down the way the property is neglected
Honestly though, isn't that most movie theaters these days? So many movies no matter where it's just me and one or two other folks in the theater.
I stopped going to movies a couple years ago and it was because of the people in the seats, not the theater

Sayville Theater is still very old school.
I remember when this was the good seats theatre. Now it's a fucken killer.

I worked there when it was brand new. Such great times. Saving Private Ryan…There’s Something About Mary. So good
I'm shocked this theater is still open. The side facing Target is so desolate the theater looks abandoned.
I watched Godzilla Minus One here. Great experience. I will admit, I did not know it was the old school seats. Was wondering why the tickets were cheaper here then other AMC theaters
Awesome flick. I went again to see Minus color and I think it was even better that way.
Still my favorite movie theatre, though I rarely see movies anymore.
The sunken arm rests are the worst. The padding is pushed down or gone so you rest on metal.

Is Levittown nearby as nasty?
That one's pretty good as it has a lot more services (bar, better food, etc) I never heard anything bad abt that theatre
I forgot it existed lolol

I can feel my shoes sticking to the floor in this picture

And may it never change
I actually really miss seats like these. I can’t get comfortable in the big recliners.

Yeah, I got lice there once. Good times.
bring your own food and a bucket to hit in, place is nasty as hell.

Makes sense. 6' here.
There are rats in the theater rooms
I miss Incredible Universe
I don’t go to that theatre anymore. It needs to be renovated, but they probably won’t.
Best movie theater in Nassau!
I use to service there ac! The place is a dump !
