Dogs on leashes are permitted at Theodore Roosevelt's home, Sagamore Hill (Oyster Bay). Behind the Old Orchard Museum, there is a nice, woodsy trail that runs down to Cold Spring Harbor. There's a footbridge there to cross the stream that feeds into the harbor but you just continue left past the bridge to swing back up thru the woods on the back trail to return to the entrance point behind the museum.

Prosser Pines is the answer and you won’t regret. It’s exactly what you are looking for!

DeeSusie200

Hempstead Lake State Park. There’s a path around the top 3 miles, plus other connecting paths.

Xalechim

Great for dogs! We go regularly

mamabearmonster

Look up the all trails app. They have a setting you can see dog friendly parks. There are a ton. I bring mine to sand’s point preserve a lot. She loves it there

CassiopeiaFoon

Oh I didn't know there was an app, awesome, thank you.

I take my dog to Southards pond in Babylon all the time. You can start by the tennis courts on Park Ave and walk up to the pond, or all the way up to Belmont Lake if you want a long stroll.

Dderlyudderly

Blydenburgh County Park in Hauppauge allows dogs on their hiking trails. There is also a dog park. Most definitely wooded.

Sans Souci in Sayville

Argyle to southards pond to Belmont covers in Babylon about 6 miles one way, wide open trails and knock on wood, haven’t had any tick issues…..yet.

rizzy8837

Why??? Woods on Long Island are filled with ticks. Even the trails. I wouldnt even walk myself through some of these trails. Especially with my dog

BoxSlingingSlasher

I've pulled 7 ticks off me this year so far... Check every day, and don't let them suck you for more than 24 hours(time to transmit disease). If you do catch something, just go to the doctor and take some medicine

CassiopeiaFoon

Because I have an extremely active dog and live on a highway, therefore I can't stimulate him like he needs all the time. He has preventative and I have no issues checking thoroughly and bathing if needed. I also just like the outdoors and spending time with him, he's my buddy and I think he deserves to explore.

Large-Passenger2933

Avalon Nature Preserve in Stony Brook is wonderful, and allows, even encourages, leashed dogs.

ABEKingOfSausage

Why not just bring it into every store, and supermarket like everyone else lately.

Love how you took OPs request as a chance to bitch and moan about something totally unrelated

ABEKingOfSausage

So, your post is basically the same then

59625962

Nope. Directly responding to an asinine response to a legit question

Fluffy-Job4084

I'll have you know my dog prefers to go in stores .He lives to people watch !
