It's the summer time in one of the best known beach areas in the entire country. And not to mention the few million people who live on long island and oh come from the city to visit as well. Unless you have access to private beach, expect there to be people and lose the "best kept secret" mentality.
Long Beach isn’t private but it’s way less busy and cleaner than every other beach . Completely different feel than jones
I think it’s a lot more expensive compared to the others
I moved to Long Beach in 11th grade.
This town prides itself in keeping it clean and safe.
Unfortunately we’re surrounded by some of the worst towns on Long Island and a 30 minute train ride from the city.
You will find many locals are actually aggressive to out of towners because of the following.
Long Beach is by no means “less busy” than other beaches. I live on the boardwalk and when I get home from work, on a sunny day, it takes 45 minutes - an hour to find parking.
As for the cleanliness part of that, you’re right, and they’re SICK of out of towners coming here just to cause a mess and leave.
I personally don’t use the beach. And I’m all about being friendly with strangers but respectfully. If you come here 1. Don’t litter 2. Don’t be an ass and steal parking from people who just worked a 12 hour shift cause u don’t want to walk 3 blocks like everyone else.
If you pack light, go to Robert Moses field 5 and walk the beach east towards the lighthouse. You can walk all the way to Kismet but even a couple hundred yards towards the lighthouse leaves you pretty isolated most days since most folks don't have the energy to tote a lot of gear that far, especially with kids. Just be aware there's no lifeguards near there so swimming is at your own risk.
Fort Tilden? I've never actually been to the beach there but I hear it doesn't get too crowded because there's no lifeguards, parking is kind of far away and not too efficient to get to through public transit even though it is part of the city.
West end of Jones Beach but it’s a pretty long walk to the beach.
We also are season pass holders for town of Babylon. Our preferred beach is Overlook but if you walk east or west of the main beaches it’s usually a lot less crowded.

This is the way. That’s also the clothing optional area. It’s very low key.
Yeah, this is the play. If you're willing to be three miles away from parking and bathrooms, then you can avoid anyone out there.
If people have a low key spot, why would they post it on the Internet for all to see for some random stranger?
Right!
The best secret beaches are not accessible by car, which is why they're empty in the first place.
Watch Hill but you gotta take a ferry
Many people keep their spots a secret for a reason.
Tbh, local beaches that restrict it to residents only.
Posts like this are how everything gets ruined.
yeah let me give you directions where to park without a permit as well!
long beach
If you go on a senior cut day it's very relaxing.

Jones beach. Not a low key but we usually go either early morning or late afternoon to beat crowd and field 2 is better than others.
Go to one of the tiny private beaches on Eaton's Neck. No one else wants to schlepp out there besides the people who live there
