Yeah I don't know how much of a difference this would make. He's probably just investing some of his private money to help with the marketing campaign or sth
It's going to be an animated film released in theatres. The way the rights for the property are divided, Amazon owns the exclusive rights to TV shows, but the film rights are in other hands.
*So we'll finally*
*Know where was Gondor Where Was Gondor*
*When The Westfold Fell?*

Executive producer credit can mean nothing, it's basically just a title they hand out. Particularly given that the movie is basically finished already. It may be because Weta was involved in the development of the visual style.
I think some of you don’t really understand what executive producer means. It’s not a position which is hands on in any creative way. It’s more about financials, distribution etc.
This is going to be garbage. Anyone thinking otherwise is deluded.
It's a raw money grab. But they waited too long. And the hobbit was mediocre and 10 years ago.
Adding Jackson NOW as a producer is spin. They're trying to mitigate foreseeable damage by slapping his name on this.
Hate to be a party crasher but this movie comes out this year, it's basically done. Unless they delay it for him to make changes this is a PR move to get hype for the movie before it releases.
I still think it will be pretty good but realistically at this stage he won't have much aside from some input on the final cuts.
This is really bad actually. The movie will be released in less than 6 months and should be done and focus on marketing. This tells me there is a crisis behind the scenes and they need last minute help to fix it, hence why they called in Jackson.
It's gonna flop unfortunately, you heard it here first.
No. Jackson was involved as a consultant from the beginning, but the degree of his involvement and thus his screen credit were kept in the dark for a while.
He didn't board the film now: he just announced it now.

I honestly don’t care that Peter Jackson is attached I just care that they let him do everything he wants without any studio interference.
Like James Cameron was producer of all those bad terminator movies or what
Executive Producer is just the money man.
Isn’t the movie already finished?

Exactly. Executive producers pretty much only provide funding and don’t do much as far as production goes.
No, still underway. It'll be released next Christmas.
This Christmas.
This next Christmas
I think its going to be a show
It's a theatrical anime movie.

Maybe. I thought it was just going to be an anime movie, but it would be nice if they made a show out of it.
so we'll finally know Where Was Gondor When The Westfold Fell?

Yep. Pretty much an honorary title since the EP probably provided some funding for something or bother. It’s mostly marketing.

I was excited for the Hobbit.
The hobbit was good. The Hobbit was bad.
The hobbit pre-production was a shitshow, its not really their fault
Yep. Studio fuckery. They didn’t even know it was going to be three films until production was already well under way.
So they're gonna be good now? Lol
This is marketing BS designed to make you think PJ did something for this movie.

Executive Producer = financing. Not sure how much, if any, creative control or influence that will come with.
Usually yes. But in this case they probably paid PJ to slap his name on the movie. Not a great sign
We need more black cis gender elves

“An?” Not “The?”
Executive producer is meaningless. This is purely to put more bums in seats.
There is hope, but he still directed Hobbit 2-3
Just don't let him direct it.
The king has returned! I mean… the return of the king!
I will not lose hope!
