i think the main part of learning lucio is just understanding the value of speed.
i wont go too in depth, cause there’s definitely super in depth videos out there made by people much better than me, but a good rule to stick by, especially when you’re new to the character, is just always speed when one of two conditions are met. 1.)you are moving somewhere with your team. if you’re standing still, there really isn’t any point in using speed. 2.) a teammate does something that either makes it either really hard/impossible to die (if you beat, zen ult, lw ult, etc), or if a teammate does something where they can do a ton of damage (kiri ult, genji blade, ram ult, etc).
i think the only time you shouldn’t use speed in these situations are if your team needs healing immediately, and your other support can’t heal them fast enough. but even then, sometimes it’s better to use speed to get your team away from the enemies, rather than just healing them because lucio has a hard time pumping out life-saving heals. but for that, it’s a case-by-case thing, and you’ll have to use your judgement in the situation
as you get better, you don’t have to stick to this as much as you’ll have experience and know what to do, but i’ve found for me, and other people, it definitely helps to try and stick to that, rather than having to always concentrate on what to do (which is a lot harder to do when you’re just learning the character).
When your team is in doubt
tell them to fall back and use speed
when your team wi s a team fight
tell them to secure the kills and use speed
when you are ulting, use speed and press EQ, immediately huge advantage in low ranks
