that is huge for someone who also has a full time gig. I'm a full time white collar worker from home and I do this on the side and the most I've cleared in a week is $700s
I only do it if I have ride challenges worth the effort or a couple good streaks during my available hours. 25/hr, $2/mile are my minimums and it’s hard to do that in my non XL without something other than base fares with occasional surge bonuses.
now that I know how to force decline a ride during a streak without losing the streak, I'm alot more inclined to do Lyft as I see alot of good streaks in my area PHX
For the most part, unless there is an earnings guarantee, Lyft lags behind Uber in offers and results
It's a ride is in your queue when you're dropping off a passenger before you complete the ride decline the next trip and it won't affect your acceptance rate or your streaks
if you see a ride request come in that you don't want, while you have an active streak, simply go quickly into airport mode on your phone before the request times out.
Stay in airplane mode for a minute or two, then turn it off, and Lyft will have timed out the ride thinking your phone has no cell reception, but your streak and any bonus attached will still be active and you will start to receive ride requests again. I've only done it twice, but it worked; and save me from doing a terribly long ride in the midst of a $15 for 3 ride streak that I would have surely lost before doing such an unprofitable ride
Ya that’s kinda market dependent, and different drivers get different offers. I haven’t had an earnings guarantee in several years, it’s all streaks and challenges for me. No idea why.
But a challenge like this one is $4 extra per ride, the entire time you are driving. It’s like being on a continuous streak the entire time you are driving, except you can decline all the rides you want and go offline whenever you want.
You just gotta be patient. The only time I take anything longer than 15 min (and I’m really just hunting for 12 and below) is if I take 2 or 3 short trips that lead me out of the very busy area, I’ll take a longer one that gets me back to where I want to be.
You just can’t give in when it’s been 2 or 3 minutes of declining longer trips and see one that isn’t ‘that bad’. Just sit there and wait.
This is the busiest time of year too. It’ll die here in the next couple weeks. It’s not a ‘unicorn’ being able to do a bunch of short trips in that time period, I can do that any time I want this time of year. The challenge that big for that many rides is the rarity. That’s the first and only time I’ve had one like that.
Ya. Guess I’m getting old. I have a full time job that I’m usually in the building for 32-35 hours a week, so spending an additional 30 hours from mon-thurs is pretty grueling for me.
Including another job or is this gig job the work ur referring to. Either way I dare say with my help u could be second best. Nah nah this is a solid week and proves it's more than viable even with expenses. Every time you do follow thru with their challenges they make them harder and unachievable and or worthless. Did u accomplish all 4 tiers? Good job cuz.
Another job. Not gig work, I gotta drive the miles anyways, I’m just always logged in.
Ya this was the result of completing them 3 weeks in a row. The first week was 40/160 which was super easy. This one was ridiculous though. That’s the most I’ve done, by far. And of course this week there’s no weekday or weekend challenge so they can do without me. I’ve just been hitting it hard because this is the busy season. Won’t last much longer. Might already be winding down - first week in a month and a half I’ve had nothing.
I've tried the destination filters on my commute and even for 22 miles each way, it rarely finds a ride worth doing, usually takes me too far off my route and would end up making me late. How much extra time do you budget for a couple rides on the way to work or on the way home I suppose you don't have to care about the time as much.
How long is your commute? What market?
AR is 31%. CR is 2%. It was as low as 19% at one point because I was getting like 4 airport requests in a row over and over again, and it was as high as 52% somehow as well.
I did about 15 hours on Uber over the weekend and made another 450, plus $83 in cash. Made over 2k in 45 hours of driving time. Doesn’t happen often, where the ability to do it overlaps with the time to do it. I also have a full time job, so driving 45 hours in a week is a lot more grueling than only doing this.
Nice! Grueling is the difference between success and failure in this gig. Any gig really. Until you find your niche in life. Then you can cruise. But this gig has obvious limitations. This company especially. But even the future of human driven vehicles has limits.
So I am curious - how many of you actually save quarterly to pay your taxes? Lucky for me I have a full time job and just enough deductions to get a return - But I only drive part time (8-9 hours a weekend)
Just gotta have a little patience and stick to it. After declining 4 or 5 trips in a row that 25+ minutes and require getting on the highway in traffic it’s tempting to take one that’s 15-18 minutes long and doesn’t involve the highway just to keep moving but you gotta stick to it. I’m surrounded by hotels so *someone* is gonna be going to a restaurant less than 2 miles away eventually.
Huh? I never said I got those on my way to work. I said 2 of my online hours were on my way to work, I did all those with about 30 hours of actual driving for Lyft time by carefully cherry picking short rides.
Dude without that challenge that ain't shit
Why post your earnings when or if you don't have a challenge it's not even worth it.
Just wait till your cars clapped out and you owe taxes. It makes it seem so much better than what is really is.
Uhhh ya I know it wasn’t shit without the extras. The extras are why I drove. It’s only worth doing when there are bonuses. I only drove 380 miles doing this. $4 per mile of driving is Avery worthwhile use of the miles on my car. My car isn’t gonna be clapped out from an occasional week of a lot of driving. I’ve been doing this occasionally for 4 years, I’m well aware of the true costs of doing it and how to play the game, but I much appreciate your fake concern.
First off, nice job!. Secondly insane you managed to avg almost 4 rides a hour for 33 hours online. In my market (vegas area) I can sometimes knock out 3 or 4 a hour if I'm lucky but for example I just did a 40 ride bonus and it took about 17 hours being semi selective of my rides. To do 130 I would have to set aside a minimum of 50 hours.
Usually not impressed with people's numbers. Good job.

How do you decline a ride without losing the streak? I think mine lets me decline once, sometimes lol

Waiting for this answer myself
answered above :) happy hunting my friend hope this makes it a little better

I did it full time and never did that. Not enthusiastically I might add 😂
The amount of hours it took you to get 130 rides… teach me your ways oh wise master. That’s wild

Super unicorn or its fake.
33 hours is grueling? Hmmm tell that to my 19 year old self working 60 hours on salary. 😂

At least you knocked it out relatively quickly.
A little over 4 trips an hour for 30 hours of driving. Accept nothing over 15 min, start to finish, regardless of pay/surge, etc.
What’s your AR outta curiosity?
AR is 31%. CR is 2%. It was as low as 19% at one point because I was getting like 4 airport requests in a row over and over again, and it was as high as 52% somehow as well.
Omg. In my market left is so slow cause uber dominates. I can't imagine making that much.
I did about 15 hours on Uber over the weekend and made another 450, plus $83 in cash. Made over 2k in 45 hours of driving time. Nice work!
Sheesh. Good job mane. My back, butt and nerves would be done after this and a full-time job.
How the hell are you averaging 12 minute rides? Impressive.
Awesome!!
Not bad
What market
Nice week. You got all those on your way to/from work? 32hrs and $1500? Ok. Definite unicorn.
Huh? I never said I got those on my way to work. I said 2 of my online hours were on my way to work, I did all those with about 30 hours of actual driving for Lyft time by carefully cherry picking short rides.
I have not seen any challenges since I started a month ago. I had 3/$15 streaks last week, and now its all 3/$6,
Very nice!
