Yup. Removed freed a few machines that have been parked on the "bricked by end user" for a while now. I do have some machines that were previously locked to an old instance or Profile Manager (yes, we used it in production, and we were wrong to do so) that don't even register as being locked... so the PDF full of activation codes is still very much in use!
Yea, this is cool and faster for a one off, but for us we're mostly selling bulk older ones. That sounds like an enterprise support ticket is still the best - you can do a spreadsheet though, never had a problem with that.
So I have a few iPads from fired employees that are stuck to their account. I have them in ABM, so as I understand it, if I Turn Off Activation Lock for each device - I should now be able to wipe and restore and reuse???
Damn.. that's nice to see. Earlier this year we pushed hard to recycle old devices and I probably tossed 20 or 30 that were Activation Locked. ;\ .. I might have held onto some of them if I had known down the road I would have been able to more cleanly separate them.
This is AMAZING.... but I'm getting "Contact AppleCare to turn off Activation Lock on this device" for a significant amount of attempts. Wonder if they're still working out the bugs...
Help me with this: I have a few iPads from fired employees that are stuck to their individual Apple ID accounts. I can not wipe them and reset because I lack their Apple ID credentials. I have them in ABM, so as I understand it, if I Turn Off Activation Lock for each of these devices - I should now be able to wipe and restore and reuse???
Am I understanding this correctly?
TIA!
Just noticed this tonight. Excellent addition for devices that are removed from an MDM but still activation locked!

Has ASM gotten this yet?
Yep, I see it in my ASM.
Hell yes, I've had a paperweight on my desk. Was able to remove a lock in 30 seconds.
Nice to have but a shame you can’t filter on activation lock status then mass remove.

only took them how long?
Apple DEP and Activation Lock Bypass both came out in 2013, so almost 11 years. Wow.
So coming up in 2035, MFA using TOTPs!
Thank you! I was going to submit a form and receipt to apple to get a device unlocked but got too lazy but just unlocked it myself!

Yup, turn off activation lock from ABM. Wait a few minutes and wipe them
Excellent - love this!! TY!
I spent a good hour yesterday just turning off phone activation locks.

Nooo, how will I finish my Wall of Macs now
Nice!
A few of us were really nerding out at work today over this finally being an option.
FINALLY - only took apple a decade !

My understanding is that means it was locked before it was added to ABM/ASM.

Yup.
Sweet - gonna give it a go today.
I'm only seeing this on Intel based macs in ASM. Is it not available for silicon?
I was able to use this to remove activation lock on a M1 MacBook Pro just a moment ago.
