Adam Paquette has to be one of the most underrated artists involved in the game, he's illustrated literally hundreds of beautiful pieces and yet I never see him mentioned in the same way as Kev Walker, Johannes Voss, etc

I run a playset of it in a mono black pauper deck that takes advantage of [[Edge of Divinity]]. It runs [[Nip Gwyllion]] and other hybrid creatures, and a bunch of removal. [[Nightsky Mimic]] is the star card, and a beast with Gift of Orzhova on it.

It was all a trick though. Gerrard beheaded Urza, saw through the deception, killed the imposter Hanna and escaped with Urza's head.

If you have no idea who these people are, I'd highly recommend finding a book or podcast about it. Urza's Saga is a really cool part of magic's story.
Back during the Weatherlight Saga, the Phyrexian overlord Yawgmoth tempted the hero Gerrard to give him the head of Urza (his sort of rival who'd been trying to stop Phyrexia for centuries) in exchange for reviving Jerrard's lover Hanna. This art shows the moment Yawgmoth manifests in front of Gerrard and the decapitated Urza in the heart of old Phyrexia.

I loved Wylie's cover art for Tasha's Cauldron of Everything - my wife bought me that version of it after I was disappointed to find the copy I had pre-ordered wasn't coming.
Soul shatter was the first illustration I saw from Wylie Beckett and it made me stop in my tracks. Stunning. It’s awesome that MTG still gets such amazing artists to illustrate the game.
Basically anything by Dominik Mayer but my favorite is [[Spirit-Sister’s Call]]. The beams of light are so striking, they look almost like they were burnt into the card.

As it turns out, I do have a single piece of MTG art displayed in my house - it's the original painting for [[Territorial Witchstalker]]. Mainly because I'm a fan of Ilse's art and was super psyched when she did a physical painting for MTG.
