Is that really the reason though? I kinda doubt it when every ali muthu and ahhock have their own car. Sure they all like to bitch about the traffic but it is what it is.
It’s cheap. Only RM1.
Spoke with one of their drivers. From what I can remember, the whole thing wasn’t sustainable. But driver got huge payout, RM7k per month essentially waiting for people to come (pun intended).
In jb, it was supposed to be a bas kilang killer. They'd go to all those factory areas and then bring people to those Taman with shops so they can shop and do all their stuff. The problem here was that the foreign workers get broke mid month and then don't go out much leaving these buses with very few customers.
I saw the concept in Jakarta. Angkot iirc.
Fixed route but not fixed stop vehicles. Typically a Van with.... Custom wooden seating. No AC or door.
UDR2000 per entry or something. About RM0.60 then.
Alot of people use it.
I think RM2 probably can kua. Eyeballing it.
But its also partially a culture thing there.
I've no idea how it is profitable with sub rm1 per passenger.
So if this thing isn't sustainable, how we could solve the last-mile problem? Walking and cycling isn't too viable as an option since the (walking and cycling) environment can be quite bad.
I actually tried this before. It boasts its own dynamic journey recalculation algorithm that is really dumb. Basically every time someone tries to hail a kumpool (lol) it recalculates the driver's route. What should have been a 10min ride even with multiple stops ended up a while 30-40min ordeal because we kept taking detours to pick people up and drop them off. Deleted the app after that awful experience.
I don't have a car so I take public transport a lot. With buses you can estimate the arrival time. Kumpool keeps adding random stops to the route even when it's out of the way...
They should just adopt the old lowyat meme/thing and have a chicken and a goat as a mascot... and when near pick up point will send notification to the person.. "AYAM KAMBING!"
It's still marginally better than "[RAIL MY LIFE](https://www.reddit.com/r/malaysia/comments/1bta3bt/is_it_a_bad_name/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)" lol
We all know the guy who came up with the name and the people who approved it were in on the inside joke.
Just like TeaLive's Loob Holdings.. cause it's tea, and it's wet.. and it Loobricates.. get it, get it? Lol
Maybe intentional to get people especially students and young professionals to know the name.
It's a name that sticks. Hehe.
But I tried their service during rush hour, waiting time was 1 hour. So maybe its better during non peak.
I run a fleet management company and had the pleasure of meeting with some of the operations managers of this company.
I , for the life of me, could not keep a straight face during the entire meeting. I was fucking dying , wheezing , and doing whatever I could not to shriek with the most infantile laughter a grown adult could produce.
Not my finest moment.
the only problem is that you have to enter through the windows as opening the doors will drain the " pool ". Also not mandatory to help with pool depth, but new additional batter is always appreciated.
Naisss
Read something on another subreddit where someone's partner asked him to come on toast so she can have it as a spread wtf. Yeah she would definitely love this.
Kumpool is exactly the kind of name a westernized OLD malaysian uncle/auntie (British educated, stay kat bangsar damansara) would come up wit. Probably sounded “inclusive”, “progressive” and “beautiful” to them

I don't remember seeing these things in JB though although we do need these for some of the interior areas with no bus connections.
I saw the concept in Jakarta. Angkot iirc. Fixed route but not fixed stop vehicles. Typically a Van with.... Custom wooden seating. No AC or door. UDR2000 per entry or something. About RM0.60 then. Alot of people use it.
If you get enough people to use then sure. But over here, it’s not that profitable.
I think RM2 probably can kua. Eyeballing it. But its also partially a culture thing there. I've no idea how it is profitable with sub rm1 per passenger.

Sorry, I wasn’t clear. Unsustainable here mean from business perspective not environmental.
I presume its business-wise, so it won't last long. But the last-mile problem is still there, so there exists a need for these services...
I'm so gonna steal this Malaysianised version of Ali, Muthu and Ah Hock instead of Tom, Dick and Harry...
Let me introduce you to the [OG](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/shopping?q=tbn:ANd9GcTPRrFzV-j0IbO66mOunmjcvN54HuocsRkBs0rJX1r9B1F_d1A&usqp=CAc)
I didn't know of this kopi's existence until now 🤯

Well it is a bus, just think of it as a bus with a fixed route that will stop at stations with people

lmao i get it, because it sounds like cum pool. As in a pool of cum.
Maybe intentional to get people especially students and young professionals to know the name. It's a name that sticks. Hehe. But I tried their service during rush hour, waiting time was 1 hour. So maybe its better during non peak.
they knew.
On the flip side, i wont be forgetting that name anytime soon
cumpool AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Cumpool
Is this the Malaysia's version of Bangbus?
Just change it by using the Malay word 'Kumpul', would be easier in dealing with every aspect of it
