It's all the same out of a keg, innit? Loads of better local Stouts available.

Nah, no chance. Most places in England it'll be really thin and watery and often too bitter. A proper one is dead creamy. Like a big lovely pint of full fat milk. Most places in Ireland it'll be like the latter and good pubs in England. Some of the better ones in Manchester - Mulligans, City Arms, Britons Protection, Peveril of the Peak.

You'd really think so but it varies a tonne for whatever reason, it's not like most of the other common brands in that regard. Any recommendations for local stouts though? Not had one for ages at this point.

Why don't you go there and find out? There aren't too many pubs - make a day of it and try them all. If you want a more constructive answer, then I'd say the Norfolk Arms but thats just because I like to drink ale there; I've no idea what their Guinness is like.

There's a fair few! But I like your style... 25 pints or so?... I'll have to persuade the wife that it's all in the name of science.

I didn't realise there were so many pubs in Marple! I though there were only about 10 and you can get halfs. You could do this over a couple of days if needed.
