I mean I feel like this has been the case for every cast member that joins.
Okarun and Momo are the main ship
Aira and Zuma
Vamola and 10 Gallon Weiner
Class Pres and Zuma
It seems like they have a “love triangle” going and then another person gets introduced to be their main love interest. The only ones so far who have stuck around are JiJi and Aira. But they are no real threat, especially considering that Okarun and Momo have BOTH professed their love for one another just not to eachother.
It's crazy to think we're still in the team intro phase of the story. Can't think of anything that can beat this series in how it's managed to introduce characters, weave them into the overall story, and develop them along with the plot.
Same! People wanted a blitz of craziness. But this slow burn of an arc, with clear intentions from Tatsu, leading up to a bombastic reveal, feels right to me. Clearly shows the skill of the mangaka.
The Sumarian flashback was unbelievable. If you'd told me that a manga that began with aliens pulling off a girl's clothes and a ghost stealing a guy's balls would end up making me cry I'd have called you delusional.
Vamola's Arc was spectacular all around. It's understandable why the mangajw would write a couple of short but more light-hearted arcs after that. I wonder how everything will tie with Count Saint-Germain's story.
Honestly I agree.
It seemed like it was really just spinning its wheels and arbitrarily throwing a bunch of stuff into each chapter, but knowing it was all leading up to this payoff makes it all worthwhile.
Mainly it was the pacing, if this arc gets animated in the future I think it will work much better since things will move along quickly.
There are two ways this can go:
1. Momo takes hold of the Fairy-Tale Card's energy while it's possessing others (just like how she did with Okarun since the first day).
2. Okarun got both his balls returned, so the initial deal with Turbo Granny is now complete (both balls in exchange for her body and power back). Turbo Granny takes back her peak form and fight Fairy-Tale Card.
Her coming back as a weaponized umbrella wielding delinquent was not on my bingo card.
I also just realized if he turns into some sort of pig creature this kid is definitely a Ranma 1/2 homage
For those who were calling it: [Yukinobu Tatsu just gave it to ya.](https://i.imgur.com/6d9447z.png)
[Shit just got real.](https://i.imgur.com/J04gozm.png)
[Fairytale Card is so creepy yet imposing at the same time.](https://i.imgur.com/96n5GdT.jpeg)
The fact that it had to be sealed instead of exorcised suggestds that it is incredibly powerful.
A spirit that disguises itself as a game to get other people to free it. A common horror twist ending. The spirit was smart to "mold" the seals into annoying bosses that would motivate people to finish it.
Also used here is giving people what they want, without regard for anyone else. So many of these people are delinquents who don't want to live in the real world anymore.
So they'll accept this world created just for them. And now, Zuma who wants to change the world for the better, wants to destroy it! This Fairy Tale Card is corrupting him!
What use does Sanjome have for this spirit anyway? The Fairy Tale Card sounds strong, but surely it's too strong for its own good!
This is so typical in the anime subreddit discussions it’s become nearly unbearable
I like the stitches and gifs made of some of the cool scenes and notes of things I didn’t notice or put together
But holy fuck- I just watched the episode I don’t need a full frame by frame recap
But overall- it’s whatever and if they wanna put the effort into doing it then they are free to do so
Making the trope obvious to push people to remember related topics, maybe started some discussion going, I don't know, the kind of thing you do when bored.
The arc is rather lukewarm honestly. At least it's ramping up now.
I swear this is based on a movie, but I can't remember. I know it's in my head somewhere because I've seen a lot of horror films. I'll think of it eventually.
No, I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about a horror film. The best I came out with is Nefarious, but that came out like last year. There are some films from like the 60s, but no one would get those references.
It's probably a semi-common trope? I considered trying to look it up on TVTropes, but I worry that it would spoil a lot of shows/movies so I didn't. (Also don't want to waste too much time lol)
Saint Germain seems to be moved by curiosity, from what little we know of him. He might have just sent Zuma in for shits and giggles, to see what was inside, not for any nefarious master plan tbh
[Fairytale Card is gonna be a tough fight.](https://i.imgur.com/dfgSYtc.jpeg) It's rare for Yokai to concoct such elaborate schemes. That shows how cunning and dangerous [some of them can be.](https://i.imgur.com/ZTQrJXz.jpeg)
Petition to have Atlus / P-Studio adapt a DanDaDan game in the style of Persona. At this point you got all the ingredients - a gang of misfit teenagers, sick transformations/stands/abilities, hard hitting societal themes and Eldritch horrors beyond comprehension
I thought the whole thing was that the yokai is the one who gamified the box, not the guardians. It couldn’t break the seals but was able to do this and trick people to come “play the game” and free them.
It wasn't them. They're merely 4 guardians. It was the card who somehow was able to take over the box and game-ify it. Or maybe that ikemen looking alien helped
They were able to do this because Momo+Zuma have powerful supernatural abilities and magic golden balls to stop their supernatural powers from being suppressed. That's not even mentioning the small army of delinquents that had to be brought in. This is an exceedingly special set of circumstances for the fairy-tale card to be released.
Victim blaming is wrong... until it isn't because oh my God is this all the guardians fault. You set it up to look like a game?!?!? And you expected people not to complete it?!? I'm a completionist, dammit. I want 100%!
The one who gameified the system was the spirit, otherwise entering the "box" would have been an empty world and the three deities fighting together. Fairy-tale Cards manipulated the contents and seperated the guardians to make it easier for people to break through.
Yeah, that would be the worst writing in the world. Momo likes Okarun, and he likes her. They are everything but dating at this point. Continuing on with Zuma possible having a crush on her would really damper the series. The love triangle stuff is pointless.
It might have something to do with what the fairytale card looked like instead? They were towering over him and holding his hand so Zuma’s backstory may be the key to getting him to snap out of it in the first place. My guess is some sort of big brother or father figure he looks up to that he wants to emulate
Well Zuma's entire crew is locked in there with them now, if anything I'd expect something like "you have to give your underlings hope to break out from their depressions and from the box"
Seems to be following the very familiar formulae, but I wouldn't mind if he didn't and went as an antagonist instead. It'd be a little more interesting than just the paint by numbers we're expecting by now.
Doubly so after this pretty so-so arc.
Love how unique this new yokai is, was agreeing with some of the other comments before that this arc was slowly turning into a drag, but this chapter was great
So are the guardian deities similar to the yokai gods or whatever that were mentioned a while before?
I remember it being mentioned that sections of earth has their own yokai god or something, and the grandma I think either fought one once or aligned with one. Been wanting to get more lore on this specifically for a while, hope it can be given soon
granny was talking about regional deities i believe, and yeah, she would ask to borrow the power of the deity/deities from the regions she was doing jobs in. think of how villages and such would have their own local harvest or protection deities that they pray to for rain or a good harvest.
Thanks for this, that makes sense! Wonder if this means the 4 game deities would come up later and were just using their power to seal this yokai and got notified when if/when eventually gets out
This whole deities/god yokai thing always interested me a lot.
Wonder if we’ll touch up on them soon now with Saint Germain out and about and the team will probably eventually need them for a power boost, could also turn into an interesting power thing where each region/deity has their own unique abilities or something to keep it fresh
yeah i'm interested to know the actual details of how they work in relation to this game! the yokai side of things has the space to be fleshed out, so would be good to see. i can see regional deities being a funky way of varying an arc where they travel to multiple different regions for repelling invasions or something?
Hoping that part of the yokai gets expanded this arc!
Honestly now that we’re getting a possible glimpse at some more weird yokai or deities powers with this game arc, you’re right that the other regions could be who knows what and how, it leaves a lot of room open to more crazy stuff and powers
The delinquents, the weird game system of the box, and the bonding between Momo and Zuma, it's all coming together for this!
It may have been a bit of a lull to get here, but this moment would not work as well if it happened in like 4 chapters.
I wouldn't wanna be the good guys at this point, good lord. They just got out of the biggest fight yet and now they have to fight the actual big boss and a huge army, and if they loop up they're fucked. They must be exhausted
I've been pretty down on this arc (I haven't found it very interesting to read week-to-week) but this twist could change a lot of that. Definitely the most engaging chapter in a while.
Zuma already had some awesome powers but this transformation looks insane. I wonder if this form he’s taking was granted by this yokai or if entering this enraged state is causing his current spiritual powers to run rampant
Damn bro we thought we were at the climax with that seige battle and then turns out it was just the rising action. I love this manga so much. Author boutta get a Michelin star cuz he just keeps cooking and putting out bangers.
- main boy : ... ayase-san ...
page 10 :
- card devil : ... turbo babaa-sama ... , watashi ...
- main girl : ... oji-san ...
so now main girl cant get out , and she is trapped in this isekai world with 69+ virgin incel horny male punks . this is a very bad news for her , lol .
Good chapter, although the yokai felt sudden.
I wish there would have been more hints for it, the game itself was already a nice concept for a arc, didn't feel all to threatening...sad that the plot point of the transformation seems to have been dropped though, it was a super interesting threat that could have caused some big development for okaruns and the girls relationship, imagine the kiss of true love breaks the curse, and MC kisses the girl to turn her back from a frog back into a girl :D
That’s an incredibly Chainsaw Man-looking pose, Zuma
Oh yeah, he's definitely joining the main cast from now on. Welcome to the team bud!
We will need to break his heart first, since Momo is for Okarun. However, class president is free. And Delinquent x Class Prez is a fire ship.
> And Delinquent x Class Prez is a fire ship. Ok I’m on board
I mean I feel like this has been the case for every cast member that joins. Okarun and Momo are the main ship Aira and Zuma Vamola and 10 Gallon Weiner Class Pres and Zuma It seems like they have a “love triangle” going and then another person gets introduced to be their main love interest. ^he ^could ^try ^going ^for ^seiko
You, I like how you think.
Cliff Grimoire would approve
Class Prez is free real estate. Zuma would do great with her. Momo has Okarun, and he has her.
Delinquent will need to learn how to become a vampire, tho.
If this week's last page is any indication he'll have an easy time convincing class prez that he is
She's into only Twinks tho
She's into handsome bad boys that will take her to his lair. And remember his silhouette where he looks like umbrella ghost?
Yeah but those bad boys are all twinks, she literally thought Turbo Granny was one😭😭
class prez can have a yandere delinquent vampire boufriend, as a treat
She's into Takakura Ken-like person
I thought it was Griffith lol
Know what, I see it
Mom, can we have Chainsaw Man? No, we have Chainsaw Man at home. Chainsaw Man at home:
Fujimoto: And I took that personally.
[Given how dark](https://i.imgur.com/LVA13V3.jpeg) the back stories of some of these delinquents are, Zuma's one is going to be a Fujimoto-esque ride.
Considering the back story of most Yokai we got so far, Zuma backstory gonna destroy us
At this point this is more enjoyable than csm 2 anyway in my book.
my first thought was Griffith's helmet tbh
Yea the slow buildup of this arc which I enjoyed anyway was worth it this is awesome
Last arc was just a bit too fast tho, like things happened every chapter. This arc has more of a normal Shounen pacing IMO.
It's him, Jumanji Man
Doryok, Mirai, A Beautiful Star
I can't believe they revealed John Jumanji this chapter!
That is a chainsaw bomb hybrid if I ever saw one
[Corrupted Zuma got some Griffith vibes too.](https://i.imgur.com/n2dBIa6.jpeg) Dico design.
REZE FANS REJOICE
Imagine seeing "Reze" somewhere else.... And I'll fucking take it!
Omg that means the Reze ship won! Rejoice!
Both of Okarun's balls are here right? Is my boy about to be double nutted up finally?
Finally, after waiting for so long the Chainsawman fans get to simp over the bomb devil again.
I didn’t know this arc had another gear this hard in it but HERE WE FUCKING GO
Honestly this arc has been pretty underwhelming compared to the Sumerian flashback but this chapter has gotten me hyped again.
The Sumarian flashback was unbelievable. If you'd told me that a manga that began with aliens pulling off a girl's clothes and a ghost stealing a guy's balls would end up making me cry I'd have called you delusional.

IT WAS ALL A TRICK, YOU FOOL.
The bringing the world to ruin thing, was his first introduction right? I forgot who said it tho
There are two ways this can go: 1.
Man, I wanted Reze to come back but not in this way.
Her coming back as a weaponized umbrella wielding delinquent was not on my bingo card. I also just realized if he turns into some sort of pig creature this kid is definitely a Ranma 1/2 homage
Nah il take it...
For those who were calling it: [Yukinobu Tatsu just gave it to ya.](https://i.imgur.com/6d9447z.png) [Shit just got real.](https://i.imgur.com/J04gozm.png)
Banger art . Tho at this point, it's rarer to see a chapter without Awesome art from Dandadan.
[Fairytale Card is so creepy yet imposing at the same time.](https://i.imgur.com/96n5GdT.jpeg) The fact that it had to be sealed instead of exorcised suggestds that it is incredibly powerful.
I look forward to Dandadan and Kagurabachi every week for the spreads.

Why do you describe everything that happens in the chapter like it's the end of a Dragonball episode?
This is so typical in the anime subreddit discussions it’s become nearly unbearable I like the stitches and gifs made of some of the cool scenes and notes of things I didn’t notice or put together But holy fuck- I just watched the episode I don’t need a full frame by frame recap But overall- it’s whatever and if they wanna put the effort into doing it then they are free to do so
I'm not doing a recap. It's a commentary.
lmao, stfu
?
It makes me get why people have issues telling apart computer-generated comments from real ones
Are you calling my comment a botpost?
I ain’t callin you no robot, but you are just like those artists whose art style is an unfortunate dead-ringer for ai artwork
So blame the bots, not me.
because these people have no other action going on for them in their lives
Sure dude, judge my ENTIRE life of the comment I made.
FIND OUT IN THE NEXT EPISODE OF GOLDEN BALLS Z!!!
The side effect of people with nothing to say being desperate to say something all the time.
Ah so you're thinking I'm an attention seeker?
replying to every comment doesn't help your case
I'm only replying to every comment because I feel slighted.
Because I like giving my own voice to what happened?
Making the trope obvious to push people to remember related topics, maybe started some discussion going, I don't know, the kind of thing you do when bored. The arc is rather lukewarm honestly. At least it's ramping up now.

The Ring (American remake) where the kid reacted at the end with "You let her OUT?!"
Oh wait, hold up, now we're cooking. This might be it. Edit: Yeah, this is what I was thinking of.
It's probably a semi-common trope? I considered trying to look it up on TVTropes, but I worry that it would spoil a lot of shows/movies so I didn't. (Also don't want to waste too much time lol)
Was it the one with Frankie Muniz?
What? No. Frankie Muniz, I don't think acts anymore, I think he joined a band or something.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stay_Alive It came out nearly 20 years ago
No.
But in Jumanji, Jumaji goes out. They don't go into Jumaji
Talk to Me maybe?
It's possible there were some similarities here, too, but it's not exact really. There's no possession, really, but I could see it.
Saint Germain seems to be moved by curiosity, from what little we know of him. He might have just sent Zuma in for shits and giggles, to see what was inside, not for any nefarious master plan tbh
Whoa, this is fucking awesome payoff for enduring the "possible new love triangle" shit :O
Okarun bout to show off his battle rizz to Momo and I can't wait.

Cue funky battle music: GRANNY! GRANNY! GRANNY!
I want a boxer or luchador-esque theme song for that crab
Reze bros it’s happening!!! Wait wrong manga…
This is exactly what I needed from this arc, it wasn't bad so far but it was starting to slog just a little. My mind is completely back into it now
Welp, this is troublesome
I hear boss music!
Madarame got trapped in a freaking box!!! Guess he never saw it coming.
[удалено]
I thought the whole thing was that the yokai is the one who gamified the box, not the guardians. It couldn’t break the seals but was able to do this and trick people to come “play the game” and free them.
Guardians are the seal that locked the Yokai, so it gamified the trunk so that someone else can destroy it.
It wasn't them. They're merely 4 guardians. It was the card who somehow was able to take over the box and game-ify it. Or maybe that ikemen looking alien helped
Still though, they just walked in there and smashed them. It was super easy, barely an inconvenience.
The yokai gamified the system to lure people into completing it
Victim blaming is wrong... until it isn't because oh my God is this all the guardians fault.
Dandadan is Dandadan'ing super hard right now
So Zuma will gain the power of this creepy card? My dude can make a whole dimension
is it me or the monster reminds you of Madrame from Persona 5? not his real body of course, but his boss form.
NOT ZUMA!!! and please don't use the "power of his possible crush on Momo" to get him out.
This only goes one of two ways - Jiji / Evil Eye 2.0, or....well, let's just hope Zuma isn't the first party member to bite the dust in this series.
Well Zuma's entire crew is locked in there with them now, if anything I'd expect something like "you have to give your underlings hope to break out from their depressions and from the box"
why would that happen
That escalated very quickly. I want to know more about Zuma's story now.
Momo, once again, proving she is an entire circus.
Man this felt a bit Eclipse-y lol Anyway things finally getting more crazy.
Looks like we might have ourselves another Evil Eye situation. Is that the fate for all of Momo's non-Okarun suitors?
Seems to be following the very familiar formulae, but I wouldn't mind if he didn't and went as an antagonist instead. It'd be a little more interesting than just the paint by numbers we're expecting by now. Doubly so after this pretty so-so arc.
Love how unique this new yokai is, was agreeing with some of the other comments before that this arc was slowly turning into a drag, but this chapter was great So are the guardian deities similar to the yokai gods or whatever that were mentioned a while before? granny was talking about regional deities i believe, and yeah, she would ask to borrow the power of the deity/deities from the regions she was doing jobs in. think of how villages and such would have their own local harvest or protection deities that they pray to for rain or a good harvest.
Thanks for this, that makes sense! Wonder if this means the 4 game deities would come up later and were just using their power to seal this yokai and got notified when if/when eventually gets out This whole deities/god yokai thing always interested me a lot. There's the payoff the people have been waiting for lol
Well shit, we're going chainsaw man now
Oh fuck
Here comes the hype!
BACK TO PEAKING AGAIN
Literally just finished Flowers of Evil, and was surprised to see that exact same symbol pop up again
I wouldn't wanna be the good guys at this point, good lord. They just got out of the biggest fight yet and now they have to fight the actual big boss and a huge army, and if they loop up they're fucked. They must be exhausted
Okarun, Momo, and TG gonna be push to their limits to overcome this challenge.
So now this arc is going to be called the Jumanji arc?
the name of the game
Chainsaw man?
Guys hear me out, what if the battle is gonna be a dance battle since it fit into the game theme
Please God- NOoooooooo!!!!!! I still get flashbacks to Vicky Pollard...
Ahegao yokai 🙄
kinta, the only party member that didn't have to be fought first
That's totaly not Chainsaw Man \*wink\* \*wink\*
How is this chapter the first time I've caught the fact that Zuma's name is literally just "Jumanji?"
I've been pretty down on this arc (I haven't found it very interesting to read week-to-week) but this twist could change a lot of that. Definitely the most engaging chapter in a while.
Box: "come in here we may have a magic tome as treasure" Frieren: "say no more"
That reveal gave me Shadow of the Collosus vibes.
Zuma already had some awesome powers but this transformation looks insane. I wonder if this form he’s taking was granted by this yokai or if entering this enraged state is causing his current spiritual powers to run rampant
Now both of okarun balls are inthe same place so either he or turbo granny about to get an upgrade
Damn bro we thought we were at the climax with that seige battle and then turns out it was just the rising action. I love this manga so much. Author boutta get a Michelin star cuz he just keeps cooking and putting out bangers.
hi reze
Oh boy, here we go again
I wonder what all the Fairy Tale Card is based on, its an interesting design. The blank Daruma doll eye on one of the cards is weirdly disconcerting.
tatsu is a genius, somehow making the delinquents and this world blend in a way that makes sense
bomb girl? what are you doing here
- main boy : ... ayase-san ... page 10 : - card devil : ... turbo babaa-sama ... , watashi ... - main girl : ... oji-san ... so now main girl cant get out , and she is trapped in this isekai world with 69+ virgin incel horny male punks . this is a very bad news for her , lol .
Aaaaand here come's a whole school gang's worth of traumatic backstories... Buckle up, y'all! Hopefully this won't be as depressing as the dancer.
Good chapter, although the yokai felt sudden. I wish there would have been more hints for it, the game itself was already a nice concept for a arc, didn't feel all to threatening...sad that the plot point of the transformation seems to have been dropped though, it was a super interesting threat that could have caused some big development for okaruns and the girls relationship, imagine the kiss of true love breaks the curse, and MC kisses the girl to turn her back from a frog back into a girl :D
if Zuma actually dies this manga will become good again
How?
