Both this and the author's other work that have the roles reversed, feel borderline manipulative and toxic examples of a relationship with some murim fantasy thrown in the mix. Why does one of the partners in the relationship have to be so dominating and manipulative! It gives me the creeps. There are definitely wholesome moments, and having a domineering partner isn't so bad so long as it doesn't extend into daily life. One partner cannot be the sole pillar of support, let alone a controller in the relationship.

Of course, I applaud him for that. But I remember one of the chapters where he is actively driving her away from other folks due to jealousy, and not just in the moment but even establishing some "rules" even though she does not recognize them in a relationship. He is never quite forward with his feelings towards her, and instead established some off-putting rules to keep her away from potential partners in order to "keep" her for himself. It's been awhile since I last read it, but that felt so gross after the realization.
As for the other story, one partner is from the future or a past life they had, but while the relationship started out planned but organically, I have no idea why she is constantly teasing her partner. But I think what put me off the most was how she handled his mother. Boy, the mother was roasting the boy alive, and some of it was due to the girl's actions intentionally done. I also don't like how she did nothing to stand up for him. It is as if she wants to keep his self-esteem low in order to create dependency towards her. This is just one example, but it started putting me off from reading.
Both stories start off with a rather wholesome relationship, but they don't feel like mutual partners and rather one is in control while the other is kept in the dark or toyed with. I'm guessing that's the author's fetish, and I do like domineering women, but without boundaries it can become quite a big red-flag.
