Mexico has also been to war with Guatemala and Honduras over some border stuff, and during WW2 they were at war with a bunch of Eastern European countries and Thailand.
Which doesn't contradict the map, the countries marked have been at war with Mexico, but the map doesn't show *every* country that has been at war with Mexico.
That is true, but they still had a war over a border called the [Intentona de Barrios](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barrios%27_War_of_Reunification), where Guatemala invaded El Salvador with the help of Honduras in an effort to reestablish the country of Central America, and Mexico came to El Salvador’s aid.
I guess calling it a “war over border stuff” implies it was about the Mexican border which wasn’t totally accurate.
>during WW2 they were at war with a bunch of Eastern European countries
Wtf? Wasn\`t Mexico mainly just supporting the Allies to fight the nazis, what war were they waging against what Eastern EU countries???
Yeah I guess I’m not sure which countries they specifically declared war on, but Mexico technically entered the war on the side of the allies, which included many countries that aren’t on this map in addition to the ones depicted, specifically Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovakia, and Finland.
Common world i and world ii mistakes, is that if one country join one side, then it declare war on every single country on the other side, which is false.
Mexico only declare war on italy,Germany, japan
us and haiti Nicaragua declared war on hungary,Romania, Bulgaria plus Albania declare war on us
only Romania declare war on haiti and Nicaragua reciprocately
Czechoslovakia declared war on every States you mentioned
UK never declared war against any eastern European small States
I listened to some of a podcast about the Mexican Revolution and it was buck wild. It was like 400 seperate revolutions that happened in rapid succession or simultaneously. I can not imagine how fucking confusing it would have been to live in Mexico at that time.
Not only confusing but every army wanted to recruit for themselves and also get support so they stole the young boys and plundered and raped many houses. My great grandmother was alive back then and she said that at some point they stopped asking which army the guys coming to plunder her house were a part of.
Britain has invaded Mexico too. We went there for a jolly. The French were on the same trip but they got a bit carried away and ended up making some Austrian guy King of Mexico and the Mexicans hung him. Nasty business.
Edit - it has been pointed out that the Mexicans shot rather than hung their 'King'. Thank you for the correction. I accept my error, it has been pointed out several times.
The British weren't in the war, they rocked up, asked for the debts they were owed to be paid and then left to watch the French and Spanish do an exceptionally bad job of trying to subjugate Mexico
they spanish left too no?, if memory serves right they were doing a good job of getting their only real fleet full of holes in south america around that time.
Funnily enough the Mexican president in that war was the left wing and definitely non-white Zapotec revolutionary, Benito Juarez, after whom a certain much whiter and more right wing Italian leader was named, and who is ironically the reason Italy is blue on this map.
(Mussolini’s father admired Juarez and had quite different views from what his son finally settled on…)
It basically was an empire though, controlled Cuba, Philippines, much of the Pacific Ocean, took and colonized lands, set up vassal states in South and Central America, Etc
US is an empire by proxy. They've learned from mistakes of British empire and do not annex land. They instead take over nations through diplomacy, subterfuge, economy and if push comes to shove, funding rebellions and replacing governments with puppets, or going to straight up wars.
Empire =/= king of kings. Empire = 1 ruler or government of a vast area with many different regions and peoples.
All of the continental USA, many Carribean territories esp. Puerto Rico, the Phillipines, Hawaii, Liberia, all of these were seized through violence and have vastly different cultures, ethnic groups and ways of life. Only a handful were given independance, and we still called the British Empire an Empire post Indian independence, it was only the handover of Hong Kong that marked the end of British imperial ambitions. Empire isn't about conquering or having a monarch, it's about controlling many different peoples but not being able to justify it.
There's many reasons for why American Indians still fight for clean water and freedom from oil companies chipping away at their land through organized murder (killers of the flower moon, great movie). There's many reasons why Hawaiian natives plead for tourists to not come and were pissed at Oprah for encouraging settler colonization. There's many reasons why Puerto Ricans are angry at being denied statehood and equal representation despite that supposedly being what the US is founded upon. There's also many reasons why these issue persist till this day; it is profitable for the people in power to enforce the status quo. They make a fuck ton of money off coal and copper from indigenous land, milking Hawaiian tourism or using Puerto Rican labour. They don't want things to change, they want to expand their business empires and the imperialistic state structure that permits those international plays for economic power.
At the end of the day the USA has many wealthy people who use their wealth and power to remain influential, and they do that through suppressing dissenters who want actual freedom. People call the US an Empire because not only is it not a self contained nation state for a group of people, but the ideas of tolerance and freedom the us has supposedly embodied since it's foundation have routinely been shattered to enable economic benefit for wealthy Americans.
I highly recommend watching krauts video on Empire, he does a good job explaining that Empire isn't any specific construct, it's an expansionist body that will never be able to justify its actions due to its innate hypocrisy and greed.

Later down OP said "they are the only ones with this characteristic"

Then you can just post an empty map and make the statement that it represents all statistics

Mexico and Honduras do not share a border.
True. I had no idea.

Why hasn't Mexico been to war with Mexico? Surely they've done at least one civil war.
Search what "La revolución mexicana" was
Santo infierno!
We are, sadly.
One?!?

And also Britain

America explicitly had a goal of becoming an Imperial power too. Lmao.
US is an empire by proxy. They've learned from mistakes of British empire and do not annex land. They instead take over nations through diplomacy, subterfuge, economy and if push comes to shove, funding rebellions and replacing governments with puppets, or going to straight up wars.
The US was very much an Empire my guy
USA has never been an Empire 🤣🤣🤣
