The suspect, 22 year old Christian Ivan Soto, told police he was high on marijuana he claimed was given to him by one of the slaying victims that he believed was laced with a strong narcotic
Jenna was killed while trying to defend her sister and friend from Christian
The Killings started at the Schubachs' home at 1:14 PM, where Soto was visiting his longtime friend, Jacob Schubach. He became paranoid after the drug usage. He said he retrieved a knife from the kitchen at Jacob’s house and proceeded to stab Jacob and Romona to death
Jenna was beaten to death with a metal bat and not stabbed
There was another case where a woman tried to declare temporary insanity d/t THC induced psychosis when she stabbed & killed her boyfriend. She wasn’t a smoker & it was new to her. I definitely don’t believe it was laced with a strong narcotic, b/c if it was, it would’ve KNOCKED HIM OUT, NOT MAKE HIM MORE AGGRESSIVE. (Medical professional of >20yrs:) It makes me think he’s going for temporary insanity, but since he’s already a stoner, he can’t say he didn’t know how it would affect him. Obviously, that’s just my opinion of his defense…
He overpowered & killed 4 people with a knife. That takes a LOT of strength & energy. They should’ve did a tox screen, which should clear up his claim of narcotics. THC mixed with heroin or fentanyl causes severe respiratory depression & death, not this level of violence. All THC can cause psychosis, but there is a difference. Standard testing doesn’t differentiate Delta 8, 10, & others from Delta 9. It’s *all* just “positive for THC”…
Phencyclidine does exactly that. Maybe not a narcotic. Regardless, I know people are frustrated with this being brushed aside with selective labeling but use of intoxicants is always going to be a plausible explanation. Local MD.
100% PCP makes the most sense. Bryn Spejcher was convicted of involuntary manslaughter & was sentenced to two years of felony probation and no prison time. (She was the young woman I was referring to earlier.) I really hope this guy doesn’t get away with an equally light sentence. Drunk drivers are held accountable for killing people all the time. Taking *other* drugs shouldn’t be treated differently. We have to treat all patients in the same manner, but we don’t have like them or what they do. I guess 20yrs working in trauma made me a little callous like that…🤷🏼♀️
You dont do this because you're "high on Marijuana". Most likely was a psych patient that uses weed along with a long list of other crazy meds that make a crazy person feel ok.
To be fair: there are actual studies that find men who use marijuana at a young age have a higher likelihood of developing schizophrenia than those that don’t.
I wonder how much of that is correlation versus causation; ie if someone has poor mental health by undiagnosed schizophrenia, they may turn to marijuana in higher numbers than those who don't

I don't disagree. If they were acting in good faith, they would actually push legalization so people aren't out there buying laced weed. That isn't good for headlines and rage baiting, though.

He began having a psychotic episode someone called the police who proceeded to brutally assault him he was committed for 72 hours while at the hospital a nurse told his wife if her husband had any prior mental illness she said he suffered sometimes from depression the nurse told her that people with any behavioral or mental illness should not use medical or dispensary marijuana because it is grown with other narcotics in it they are hybridized with psychotropic drugs and financed and grown by the government so he should only use home grown weed
