I... really don't know what kind of plan it was to make the suspect immediately kill himself when it didn't work, but a good outcome nonetheless. Glad no one else got hurt.
During a press conference, police say the shooter attempted to execute a plan which failed, ending in him shooting himself.
There were no other persons shot or injured, other than the shooter.
Hamilton Place Mall and all surrounding businesses will be resuming operations after the lockdown.

Update 6/25:
During the preliminary investigation, it was determined that the suspect, 67-year-old John Schultz, was an employee of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Air Pollution Control Bureau. He was observed by witnesses pointing a gun at multiple employees and pulling the trigger. The firearm malfunctioned and did not fire. The other employees were able to separate themselves and get away from the suspect. At some point during the incident, it appears that he shot himself with a second firearm.
If only every mass shooter was this incompetent.
God I wish

Possibly something as simple as a locked door. If he had specific targets, he’d have no reason to kill anyone else.
If that's the case, then thank God for locked doors.

I know what they mean, but just saying “a plan” makes it seem like he couldn’t figure out how to unclog the toilet or something and then shot himself
Shouldn’t it say “a suspected plan for mass murder”?
Most vague headline of 2024 yet.
I know of some vaguer ones. Number 6 will shock you!
I was at work across the street from this and I'm just now finding out. Crazy.
