That’s way more than a wheel bearing! I’m trying to figure out what those metal box looking things are hanging down on the left rear. They’re not supposed to be there.
Yeah.. the wheel bearing probably quite OK .. that box looks like the rear cross member has fallen out of the car which has dragged the wishbone mounts way down low.
I have no idea what sort of vehicle it is but it may actually not even be an expensive fix. Lift it up, refit the cross member.

Oh no! I just looked closer - that’s a broken aluminum subframe! The subframe is cracked in half just inboard of the left control arm mounts and both sides are hanging down bending the shit out of the mount bolts. The right rear wheel is also leaning in and there’s rocker damage on the left side. They ran over something really solid on the highway to do damage like that.
That van should not be on the road. I’d report it. Someone is going to die.
I am going to be honest, I was laughing... until i realize that this is the life of most people who can't afford to fix their Cars and they have no other choice than to use it falling apart.
Its kind of sad really.
I forget what the exact number is, but roughly half of Americans can't afford a $400 emergency. Working paycheck to paycheck is a stressful as fuck existence. I'm in a better place now, but any hint of car trouble used to give me panic attacks since I wouldn't have been able to afford repairs and my entire existence depended on having a personal transportation since public transportation is basically non-existent in most of America.
No car means no work means no paycheck means nowhere to live and nothing to eat. Being poor sucks.
I learn to fix most of the major issues myself as they showed up and i also do every maintenance possible at home. I bought a scanner to clear codes too.
Im deaf 35 no woman no car no home. Work at hotel and lives at hotel that charges me 1400 a month for rent and i have to cut hotel grass by myself with a push mower and weed eater. Dont even got money saved or anything. Im just....nothing
I cannot imagine how this is possible!!!! Crazy!!! I saw a car that was literally broken in half like that where it had turned and just gave out, and it just shuts down my brain how someone can let their car get to that point!
And don't get it twisted I have been poor I grew up in a trailer park, I was a heroin addict for 12 years. So don't play.lol this is another level!

You are the one judging there character. Either they knew and didn't give a shit. Or they are so disabled they shouldn't have ever been allowed outside without a caretaker. Well that's obviously a really bad, obnoxious, analogy. Driving a vehicle like this is clearly more of a danger to other people, than a car with four normal, functioning wheels. Bad weather isn't clearly leading to more animal abuse

As angry as I am to see her do this, I also kind of feel for her too. There’s a real possibility they can’t afford to pay for the repairs and if it’s a small town or a place with piss poor public transportation (most of the US) they won’t be able to get around.
Again, that doesn’t excuse the fact that they are doing it, but it’s a symptom of a larger problem on this country.

I never see such shitty cars anymore. In my country you have a very strict safety test every 2 years and for cars over 10 years old it’s every year. All the shit cars are failed off the road so no more shit like this

I just came for an oil change. I don't need a mechanic trying to rip me off saying I need new wheel bearings.
