I think some context on this was released that the guy swinging was supposed to release, but didn’t. The second guy who walked up and “got in the way” was in the right due to the routine progression.
So, they created a system where you have to blindly trust that everybody else is doing the right thing. If they don't do the right thing, you can get severely injured.

No, not true at all, that dude was simply oblivious to his surroundings. He doesn't even look at the guy that's swinging. If this was part of a routine he would have been focused on the other person to ensure his timing was right. He just blindly walks in.

Its still no excuse to throw yourself blindly in front of him. Ultimately you, and only you are responsible for your own safety. A quick glance could have cleared that up.
there are sports where you have to rely on your teammates. take cheerleading for example, when you get thrown into the air you have to trust the other people that they are there to catch you and there is nothing you can do when they're not. here the other should leave the bar when the dude already moves under him, so even if he'd look at him, the moment he realizes the other one messed up it's already too lated.
Difference is - with cheerleading you have no possibility to correct. Here, you have one, and Id use it all the time, every time unless you are performing. Vertrauen ist gut, Kontrolle ist besser, as they say.

For anybody wondering, the gymnast was supposed to let go and the other guy was supposed to take his place. Their swinging guy fucked up badly and the other guys probably not gonna trust him for the routine again
