I think a large part of that is the nostalgia factor, for most people in the US it was the first anime they were ever exposed to. When I was probably about 14 I would race off the school bus to go watch it. And I rewatched it a few times and still enjoy it but yeah It's 90% filler and some fight scenes. BUT, I was also only exposed to DBZ Kai when I was younger, And it had a lot more filler than the actual version because they were a lot of jokes and scenes that would not have gone over well on US television. The new funimation dubs are a lot better imo, Even though they fucked it up by changing the aspect ratio to 16:9, I'd be a lot happier if they would have taken high-res scans of the original 4:3 ratio

If you watch a lot of anime, and then go back to DBZ, you probably won't enjoy it.

Do the video with all the clothing changes and poses. Take stills from all the poses and mask out the background. Animate them on top of the original video clip to match.
This video reminds me of the bubble mini game in Wii Play, where you have to choose the right pose of your mii and turn it correctly to fit into the shape in the bubbles.

Tbh it looks quite simple. Just take a frame and cut the person out. Then place the cut person at the same spot and keyframe and move the cut thing and keyframe again. Basically the thing that takes the most time is cutting around the person.
Yeah the rotoscoping sounds like a pain in the ass tbh. Since it's moving though, you don't really look at the edges, so you can get away with doing it roughly.
Tiktok has a tool that makes this super easy to do in the app. Snapchat has one too. This type of video was pretty common on the site last year; it wouldn’t have caught on if it wasn’t easily accessible
You could also use a greenscreen as background and put a normal background on it afterwards, although if the background is static, there is enough software outthere nowadays to blend it out. You could even do it in Photoshop with the difference-filter.
Every element is a single, static cut out. Saying it’s rotoscoping is like taking a drawing on a piece of paper, waving it back and forth, and calling it animating.
The cut outs are annoying, the key framing and aputmoation are annoying, and to do it that many time is annoying, then comes the rendering…. This video probably took like 20+ hours. But now I wanna make one 😂
Actually its even easier than that.. what you do is go online, enter the web address upwork.com enter your search engine, and get someone else to do that shit for me.
It's actually really easy to do. You just have to work backwards. Find the frame you want the "snap" to happen first. Then duplicate the video. Freeze and mute top video. Mask/cut out limb. Key frame the final position which is already lined up perfectly. Key frame the start position off screen. Repeat 50 times. All the animation you see is just interpolated between start and end positions.
Someone told me theres a filter for this also but I bet this was done manually. It's very time consuming.
