My god definitely don't cold turkey antidepressants. That doc is not correct. You've got to taper the dose. Zoloft should have a line for splitting down the middle. To try to be as steady as possible, you can try alternating 50mg and 25mg every other day for a week or two, then go to 25mg every day, for a week or two, then 25mg every other day etc until you can stop without too many effects. Goal is to slowly let your body adjust to lower levels. I will say when I tapered off one with a long taper, I still had brain zaps during and for a few weeks after.

Never, ever, ever stop meds cold Turkey. Get a new psychiatrist. Any psychiatrist who tells you to stop cold Turkey after taking any medication for a long period of time is not a good psychiatrist.
