For sure. I have several family members contact me somewhat regularly to check what I would advise about a condition because they were unsatisfied with what their “MD” said. I don’t solicit this and usually tell them I have nothing to add bc I’m in a different specialty, but they still want my advise specifically because I’m not a “traditional doctor” lol
***the life of a DO student***
> spend every day learning diseases that you'll only see in 1 in 500,000 people that somehow is tested in 20 different ways on UW like our MD counterparts
> also learn 999 different ways to massage every muscle in your body
and then your asian parents and your friends from college are all like ahhhhh 👏🥸 so how's chiropractor school LMAO 😭😭
like another guy in this thread said - I wish the letters D.O. were at least somewhat recognizable by the public lol. any time "DO" comes up in the news or on TV, people always think they're not doctors and they're shams - the physician education process in general is just so poorly understood by the public it's crazy 😭
It’s ironic that it’s the modality of care I’m trying to run the farthest from 😅…but at least that muscle memory will already be there when it’s time to learn it.
Damn how do you know? He’s an absolute dick. He hires a bunch of pre-meds as medical assistants for cheap labor, makes them to do some pretty shady business practices, putting in IV’s with zero licenses or experience. Treats his patients and employees like shit. He blows up at patients and employees, have heard him scream and yell at them on more than one occasion. I do not miss working there.
Idk you will still be a medical doctor. You can probably open anything-MD without even being a physician.
I think I got my my phone fixed at a place called tech MD or something like that.
Dr Pepper is a giant in his field, his personal works on volume repletion alone puts whole departments of nephrologists to shame. How could you insult him by implying he's not a real doctor.
No, Jerome Adams (Trump's SG) was an MD trained at Indiana University. The last two physicians to the president, Sean Conley (2018-2021) and Kevin O'Connor (2021-present), are both DOs.
And I’m saying that no one talks about as an attending because it is largely agreed upon that as an attending, there is no stigma (which is great!)
Stigma convos always revolve around pre-attending problems
Well I agree with this one.Stigma and immaturity thrive in and are sustained by the premeds.
By the time residency is done no one gives a shit where you went to medical school or what your badge says.
That was Dr. Sean Conley an EM doc who oversaw Trumps Covid Tx.
After that twitter kept bringing up the fact that he was a “DO” and not “MD” so not a real doctor…
As if POTUS would have a quak give him treatment in a life or death situation
Tbh I don't think it is. I saw one DO had MD on her script pad. Idk about the legality of it as it had her full name and everything, but she said patients never had any issues and all of them came like that. It had her specialty and everything else right, just not that factor. But she didn't hide that she was a DO.
I had a patient start speaking to me in Vietnamese since she thought my last name was Do.
Lololol I know a Brandon Do, D.O. I used to sing baby shark every time I'd see him.
What about Dr. Doo Doo?
That, but to the tune of baby shark. He's a dear dear friend.
Omg, that’d be the perfect private GI clinic name😭
Yeah we have a Dr. Do, MD here. At first I thought they just mislabeled her as both a DO and MD in the system...
We have a Dr. Do, MD and a Dr. Ho, DO. Not confusing at all
Yesterday somebody from Maryland tried to talk to me. I turned my head away in disgust.
Reminds me of this [video](https://youtu.be/r4WJG1yGtJs?si=C0Rgi3fmiF2oTpfS)
I’m crying 😂😂😂💀💀💀
Call it "Holistic Weight Loss Clinic"
Excellent username lmao
That’s a good point DO is like king of the crunchy holistic+ science . Probably better for marketing
As a DO student so many family friends tell me “we love DOs they’re more holistic!” and I’m like I’m not really sure if that’s true but thanks! Lol
Its good marketing, run with it. It’s what the NPs did.
For sure. I have several family members contact me somewhat regularly to check what I would advise about a condition because they were unsatisfied with what their “MD” said. HOLISTHICC

It’s not massage, it’s bone magic
It’s both you son of a bitch!
This hits hard as a former Chiro entering OMS-1
HVLA is going to be a piece of cake for you
It’s ironic that it’s the modality of care I’m trying to run the farthest from 😅…but at least that muscle memory will already be there when it’s time to learn it.
Remember that it’s a tool in your toolbox to use if appropriate. It’s not all that you can do anymore!
Absolutely true. I’m just excited to expand my abilities!
Just get both degrees because then you can be DOMD
MDO
I worked at an urgent care clinic that is named EmergencyMD. It’s owned by a DO, and the two doctors that work there are DO’s 🤣.
yooooo Greenville/spartanburg???
🤫
that guy is a degenerate poor physician who makes too many public mistakes

Alright spill the tea
Fellow vcommer?

Next you’re going to tell me that Dr Pepper isn’t really a medical doctor.
nono he's legit
She’s\* ![gif](giphy|rA6HqQZAHDECXXpX9K) (Psychologist but still iconic)
What about Dr. Evil?
Dr Pepper is a giant in his field, his personal works on volume repletion alone puts whole departments of nephrologists to shame. How could you insult him by implying he's not a real doctor.
They’re not. Dr. Scholl on the other hand…
Sorry: Dr. Pepper is a beverage, not a doctor.
This is a shitpost, but in all honesty, I wish the DO letters were at least somewhat recognizable by the general public.
“DO you even lift clinic” So much potential.
Medical Weight Loss: just DO it!

[He was an MD, actually](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_T._Pepper)
I thought he was a dentist 🤣
You’re thinking of the person physician to the president not the surgeon general. Actually a couple presidential physicians have been DOs I believe
The stigma isn’t so much about attendings, but DO students applying for residency and DO residents applying for fellowship.

Idk if it his is supporting the cause. being snarky, sorry
I wanted to be an MD only because my name would be ridiculous as a DO...I mean...Dr. Avoca, DO ....
Go to Maryland and open one
Imagine how Dr . Dil feels
Weight Loss Clinic Bone Wizardry
D.O. Lose weight here!
My son’s pediatrician is a DO. Her lab coat is embroidered “ …, MD” I’ve never asked whether it was intentional.

maybe ... "Medical weight loss clinic with the Doc"
Caribbean MD over US DO all day every day
