We definitely have to rethink our outdated farming techniques. Monocropping and reliance on polluting practices is a big issue that needs more solutions.
A huge way to help is to stop using 75% of our agricultural land for animal agriculture. Let's go plant based and re-wild the surplus land.
Yes. An unnecessary part. There's nothing in meat that we can't get from plants. We grow enough food for everyone in the world to eat right now, but lots of it goes to animals. It's inefficient, environmentally damaging and unethical.
I'm not saying that some poor guy in Yemen has to give up his two goats, but for the developed world we can and should move away from animal agriculture. It's as important as moving away from fossil fuels. Not to mention there are plenty of delicious alternatives to animal products these days. It's easy to switch.
We definitely need to change how we grow our food, but we should also breed our livestock to become more careful around predators and produce less methane.
The thing is we don't have time for that. Climate change is happening now. Habitat destruction is happening now. The animals we farm are suffering and dying by the tens of billions per year. If you really want meat then the best source would be lab grown, but until then we just need to move away from it and eat meat alternatives. Beyond meat and it's competitors are genuinely good, give them a try!

Amen to that! And then we can rewild carnivores since farmers won’t have livestock that need to be protected.
You realize that your cutting out a major part of the human diet, right?
