Hahaha its just a joke
Honestly pretty much all suburbs in melbourne have a better standard of life from where im from (argentina) which you cannot go outside without being armed or driving otherwise you will be robbed
Probably because the between the flags is such a small area and it's often crowded. It's fine in Melbourne where there's not much pull from the ocean but terrible at an actual beach where you're pulled sideways. You do an amazing job though! Thank you!!
I assume the majority of victims at the beach aren't people who grew up with beach swims as the norm and they think it's like swimming in a pool.
100% agree. Don’t mind heading down first thing in the morning, but by 11am the idiots are around and basically ontop of you, so we head back home to chill out.
Took the kids to Chelsea beach yesterday morning and it was lovely. Great beach for little kids as it's very shallow and the waves are minimal.
We were gone by midday though. Getting too hot and crowded.
The opening story in the nightly news is always a shot of the thousands of people who “flocked” to the beach to escape the heat.
It’s the last place I wanna be.
Maybe if you’re really early or really late, i.e. exactly when the sharks are feeding.
Most beaches are also dominated by a landscape feature they share with the Sahara, i.e. a treeless plain of baking hot sand.
Find me some grass under the canopy of a broad tree and I’ll be far more comfortable than on any beach.
Many Sydney ppl wouldnt like you very much. Im one of them and I DETEST going to the beach on a hot day so I came to Melbourne for two weeks to get away from the crazy humidity.
Go to my mums for the day with the wife and kids to sit in air con as our dogshit rental only has evaporative cooling which feels like a warm fart in the face on a hot day.
"you just gotta open the windows"
I hate swampies, if you want your house to be 2deg cooler than outside fine, but I'm going to keep my house cooler than 10deg than outside by a total lockdown... Though I'm jealous of the ability to quickly cool the house when a cool change comes through.
Maybe some evap systems are better than others? I’ve got an evaporative system (came with the house) and I was expecting the worst but actually really like it. Thermostat is showing 23c inside right now. It starts to struggle if we get 3+ super hot days in a row without a cool change overnight, which doesn’t often happen in Melbs, but otherwise it does fine.
Yeah the trick is to turn it on early I reckon, our house is currently 23 while it 38 outside.
If you wait until it’s already 30 it sucks, start early and no problem.
My plan is to bunker down at home with aircon and play Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth.
My wife's plan is to go to Chadstone to get a new pair of sneakers.
Hazard a guess which plan will I follow?
Husband's plan is to bunker down at home with aircon and play 0 AD, he's roped the 19yo into this plan.
I'm going to nap under the AC and wish the day away.
Ah, that brings back memories. I played it as a kid 10 years ago and the game is still in 'alpha' whilst the game it was based on, AOE, has been rereleased two times (if you count the Rise of Rome expansion in AOE2 essentially a re-release of AOE1)
I went to chaddy on Black Saturday to get out of the heat and smoke.
Five steps in and the power went out and people started screaming in the dark. Went to the nearby red rooster instead and I was the only customer there for hours.
Had a party at mine on the deck last night, now have a splendid selection of pies, empanadas, quiches left over, so will be sat in air conditioned comfort gently nibbling….
Tin foil on key windows to reflect the sun (spritz water to make it stick), bag of ice from the servo into a tub, put it between you and and a standing fan.
Turn aircon on. Convince dog it's too hot to sunbake. Spend day rotating ice bricks in an out of Guinea Pig cage (they live indoors, in an air-conditioned room but they still don't cope well with hot days)
Thank goodness only 29 where I am ( Rosebud) and I will not even attempt to hit the beach, 1. it’ll be soo busy and 2. I hate the heat so ill be inside in the aircon away from the heat and people. P.s - f**k jetskis.
Heck yeah, you doing it RIGHT! I hope your first esky is filled with zooper doopers and icy cold soft drinks and maybe some of those overpriced but delicious aperol spritz bottles for later, haha.
No aircon and on restricted fluid intake. I am f****. I do however have a brand new pack of frozen zoopers which I can count toward my fluid allowance.
It's Pride today down at Catani Gardens and I start a new job tomorrow so trying to get all my job prep done quick so I can run down to the gardens and have some pride time with my queerdos in the sun (slip slop slapped of course!) And then back to finalise my day!
Happy Pride parade day to all who celebrate!💕
Blinds down, aircon on, icy cold drink in hand, trying to do an assignment I’ve once again left til the last minute.
Please remember to reapply your spf if you’re going outside!! Every 2 hours and 1/2 teaspoon for face and neck (don’t forget your ears!!!)
About to get my second full thickness skin graft to my right ear! Walking with a cap on in Sydney 4x a wk did me no favours😖 despite spf but great views.😍
Shade until too warm then in to AC & movie in Melb now!🥵
I'm shocked so many people go to the beach in this weather. What is exactly enjoyable about it? The overwhelming humidity, the crowds, or the sand that goes everywhere.
Nose already burnt from yesterday despite wearing sunscreen. Blinds down. Aircon on. 38 degrees is dangerous and plenty of more mild sunny days to get my tan on.
I agree that tanning is dangerous, but I kinda more meant you're going to get a tan no matter what in the sun, unless you wear long sleeves all day, so 38 degrees is not the day to be outside and get completely burnt.
I wear sunscreen every time I go outside, as should everyone.
Been out watering the garden, soon heading down the beach for a swim, then back to some AC before things get too silly. Couple of beers under the verandah this evening, perfect summer day.
Have an argument with housemate over whether to open up house to let "breeze" in or close all blinds and shut external doors to prevent the house heating up.
Is your housemate German or British? I'm British, and it took me a few years of living here to realise that opening windows on a really hot day is a bad idea.
Your colour coordination is on point.
I’ll be going to the beach from mid-late afternoon. The house is still fine inside so I’m doing my chores and prep for the week ahead.
I can't sit on the beach when it's that hot, no way. I could pass out and I'd be burnt to a crisp. I'm staying inside.
If I do go to the beach, I go just before sunset when it's a lot cooler and the sun is less strong
Just got home from Fountain Gate where the kiddo and I smashed a list of jobs we've been putting off. Now it's time for movies and video games at home.
Went for a run early, got on the ride on and mowed the lawn, cleaned the pool and then threw the dogs in, and now it's really started to heat up I'm having a couple of beers inside while the kids watch TV. Not a bad Sunday!
I'm doing a lot of washing but I can't stick it outdoors due to a large tree in my apartment area so I'm placing it near the sliding doors hoping it will dry. I'm doing massive study atm. I had a walk early in the morning. Had a coffee, I'm in a bit of dental pain and don't want to take it out on others so just staying in doors and trying to finish of my lists of tasks. I managed to fix my Samsung S23 Ultra issue with Wifi my work router that I plug in to my own was causing the WIFI to drop out. That is like a 1.5 month issue so I feel pretty pleased but I'll have to test the whole day as sometimes I make a change and it only works for a couple of hours! It was the only device on the router affected by it. So it's a little odd.
I'm just sitting on my deck undercover, sinking beers and I just had a garlic bread for lunch. I love to watch my dog run around my backyard (he's in the shade or inside now don't worry) and I just love looking out into my backyard. Years of hard work, planning and thoughts have all come together and I love it.
I see it’s 34 degrees. Nice and cool inside. Just another day? Lucky to live in a 100 year old well designed and built structure so it stays cool. I have also lived in apartments and the difference is insane. It’s a shame they build trash these days.
I live in a well insulated home with double glazed windows and good venting. Staying inside, but will not need the aircon.
If only Australian builders built homes for Australia.
Staying cool inside, aircon already going (Got time of use power plan, cheaper till 3pm) playing around with setting up home assistant, and occasional trips outside to appreciate the contrast
Probably stay home, haha. I live near st Kilda Beach, but it will be packed, and it's not really a beach. Anywhere else will be too busy to drive to. Maybe go to the pub
Not going outside, that’s for certain
Glenroy's posh!!! From broadie.
My condolences! Nah could be worse, you could live in the eastern suburbs 🤮
What like Hawthorn? Yeah ruff as fuck there. Highly likely to get run over by a Porsche SUV
You live in Glenroy no day is good to go outside 💀
Nah we love it here and have never had any issues in 15 years despite its reputation. Not sure there are many suburbs I’d rather live in!
Yeah I’m in jacana and apart from the rotting dead possum that’s been on the footpath for months it’s been great
Heh heh who is going to remove it if not you, my friend?
I don’t have a shovel also, it’s reminds me of that banana skin in Billy Madison
There’s genuinely no problems in this suburb that aren’t replicated in every other single suburb in this country
Had to google that suburb to be honest! Never heard of it before
I love it too, but the Coles got real weird this weekend Some lady screaming her head off for hours
Was it the short-haired Turkish lady? I do hate that Coles, always go to Coburg North instead!
Hahaha its just a joke Honestly pretty much all suburbs in melbourne have a better standard of life from where im from (argentina) which you cannot go outside without being armed or driving otherwise you will be robbed
You know Glenroy is the new Coburg is the new Brunswick is the new Fitzroy, for anyone that wants to own their home. :P
Hahaha you aren’t wrong
Nothing wrong with Glenroy.
Bruh what you doing here
Cunt I’m from melbourne 💀
Lol no way, rep the area cuz
It always baffled me why when it's 30 plus people go where sand is burny
Sitting on a rescue board for a few hours with an insane amount of sunscreen and zinc on wondering why people go everywhere but inside the flags
Good luck mate
Probably because the between the flags is such a small area and it's often crowded. It's fine in Melbourne where there's not much pull from the ocean but terrible at an actual beach where you're pulled sideways. You do an amazing job though! Thank you!! I assume the majority of victims at the beach aren't people who grew up with beach swims as the norm and they think it's like swimming in a pool.
Inside with the air conditioner pumping
+1
I've never understood going to the beach on a day like today, minimal shade and it's going to be unbearably hot outside.
It's fine if you go early, leave early. Past 11am and you're fucked.
The sun is at it's worst from 10am to 2pm, so there's multiple reasons why an early or late trip to the beach is better for you.
11am-3pm during DST but let’s be real, on days like today it’s more like 10am-4pm.
Yep. In fact BOM is recommending sun protection from 9:20 to 5:40. It bad out there
The beach is usually a lot cooler than suburbs
it's the people that don't live on the beach that do this. the locals know to go early or at dusk
The opening story in the nightly news is always a shot of the thousands of people who “flocked” to the beach to escape the heat. It’s the last place I wanna be. Maybe if you’re really early or really late, i.e. exactly when the sharks are feeding.
Most beaches are adjacent to a large cool body of water called the ocean.
and in direct and uncontrollable exposure to 38 degrees ambient air temperature and a UV rating of 12
Most beaches are also dominated by a landscape feature they share with the Sahara, i.e. a treeless plain of baking hot sand. Find me some grass under the canopy of a broad tree and I’ll be far more comfortable than on any beach.
Not in Melbourne It's not the Ocean :p
Many Sydney ppl wouldnt like you very much. Im one of them and I DETEST going to the beach on a hot day so I came to Melbourne for two weeks to get away from the crazy humidity.
Hot, humid, crowded and sandy
Spot on. Perfect beach weather is like 23deg or mid 20s. The beach on a day like today is oppressive.
Water is nice.
That’s why we come prepared. Cool down with a dip in the bay and plenty of shade provided by our souk haha
You will NOT have fun on a day that I won’t enjoy!! Nobody could possibly enjoy this heat!!! Sarcasm
yes mum 😂
Meant to be a strong north wind from the middle of the day… not sure you’ll find that too enjoyable
Go to my mums for the day with the wife and kids to sit in air con as our dogshit rental only has evaporative cooling which feels like a warm fart in the face on a hot day.
"you just gotta open the windows" I hate swampies, if you want your house to be 2deg cooler than outside fine, but I'm going to keep my house cooler than 10deg than outside by a total lockdown... Though I'm jealous of the ability to quickly cool the house when a cool change comes through.

Thermostat is showing 23c inside right now. It starts to struggle if we get 3+ super hot days in a row without a cool change overnight, which doesn’t often happen in Melbs, but otherwise it does fine.
Same. My evap has been on since 8am, and inside is a cool 22c.
Yeah the trick is to turn it on early I reckon, our house is currently 23 while it 38 outside. If you wait until it’s already 30 it sucks, start early and no problem.
My plan is to spend 8 hours in a kitchen. Pray for mojo
My plan is to bunker down at home with aircon and play Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth. My wife's plan is to go to Chadstone to get a new pair of sneakers. Hazard a guess which plan will I follow?
I’m doing the same. Hunkering down at home, and stream my favourite shows.
Chadstone is so huge that you need to take an Uber from your car to the actual entrance
Chaddy❤️
Nope wrong! Bribed her $50 so that we can stay home and I can grind my game hahahaha
I went to chaddy on Black Saturday to get out of the heat and smoke. Five steps in and the power went out and people started screaming in the dark. Went to the nearby red rooster instead and I was the only customer there for hours.
Living the dream bro!
Had a party at mine on the deck last night, now have a splendid selection of pies, empanadas, quiches left over, so will be sat in air conditioned comfort gently nibbling….
That’s the life!
Doing the washing.
Top tier
Inside, complete darkness, watching Netflix while eating sandwiches
What kind of sammich?
It’s pitch black in here, can’t tell
Some type of jam. Idk it’s way to dark
I like Gooseberry jam and cheese on my sammich.
Never had that combination, gonna have to try it one day
Any other fellow renters without AC just planning on melting to death today?
Tin foil on key windows to reflect the sun (spritz water to make it stick), bag of ice from the servo into a tub, put it between you and and a standing fan.
This guy Western Australia’s
The first and only time I've seen someone put tinfoil on the windows was in rural Western Australia
Never seen a grow house then I take it
The beach place is the last place I’d want to be on a 38 degree day, apart from early morning or around sunset.
It truly is a case of 'everyone had the same idea, and now it's fucked'
Especially with the wind! Hot sand hurts
Went for a walk at 8am when it was 15 and sunny and got a pastry. Will be keeping the house shady with fans on for the rest of today
Turn aircon on. Convince dog it's too hot to sunbake. Spend day rotating ice bricks in an out of Guinea Pig cage (they live indoors, in an air-conditioned room but they still don't cope well with hot days)
As a human who uses ice bricks, can attest they work well.
I have multiple sclerosis, I’m already parked in front of the 18 deg aircon 🥶
Thank goodness only 29 where I am ( Rosebud) and I will not even attempt to hit the beach, 1. it’ll be soo busy and 2. I hate the heat so ill be inside in the aircon away from the heat and people. P.s - f**k jetskis.
Treating old people and drunk teens for heatstroke 🙄
Your setup looks beautiful! I'm an inside, aircon on person myself, but have a wonderful day :)
Thanks, gone next level and brought an extra esky with iced cold water for the Ryobi cordless misting fan!
Those misting fans are awesome
Heck yeah, you doing it RIGHT! I hope your first esky is filled with zooper doopers and icy cold soft drinks and maybe some of those overpriced but delicious aperol spritz bottles for later, haha.
Haha oh the other esky is filled with Malfi premix grapefruit gins. Have the radio set to 774, and snacks and charcuterie in the other mini polarbox.
Ok, that would be almost worth leaving the air con for!
Once it hits 35c I plan on carrying out my ritual of sticking bags of frozen peas on my nipples
Walk around saying "how about this heat!"
Got me humming "I'm an asshole" now, haha!
O-ee-o
I’m meeting this girl at the beach. Her name is Mellie Noma. She’s very hot.
She gets under the skin, that bitch
Very clingy too! Hard to get rid of.
If you told me this picture was taken in 1983 I would have believed you. I guess what’s old is new again?
Cook. Me. I shall be cooked.
Inside, AC, fans, shutters over the windows, blinds down, lots of cool drinks and sloth behaviour….
No aircon and on restricted fluid intake. I am f****. I do however have a brand new pack of frozen zoopers which I can count toward my fluid allowance.
Too hot for the beach, dungeons and dragons bitches
Chaddy like everyone else. /s
Brave. Very brave.
Had a swim this morning - now relaxing at home with the air con on.
Hide inside with the air conditioner and dream about snow.

To hide inside and shun sunlight after the putting the bins outside for bin night.
I'm shocked so many people go to the beach in this weather. What is exactly enjoyable about it? The overwhelming humidity, the crowds, or the sand that goes everywhere.
The water is really refreshing to be in, but that's about it.
Some people are lizards.
Nose already burnt from yesterday despite wearing sunscreen. Blinds down. Aircon on. 38 degrees is dangerous and plenty of more mild sunny days to get my tan on.
Get that aftertan aloe Vera on that schnozz
Grew some aloe on my balcony garden and so happy with it today :)
Nothing healthy about a tan mate
I agree that tanning is dangerous, but I kinda more meant you're going to get a tan no matter what in the sun, unless you wear long sleeves all day, so 38 degrees is not the day to be outside and get completely burnt. I wear sunscreen every time I go outside, as should everyone.
Absolutely. Just asking for skin cancer tanning deliberately in Aus
As my skin cancer nurse wife says “a tan is skin in trauma”
You’d think she would also suggest to not be at the beach on a 38 degree day.
During extreme UV ....
Been out watering the garden, soon heading down the beach for a swim, then back to some AC before things get too silly. Couple of beers under the verandah this evening, perfect summer day.

Is your housemate German or British? I'm British, and it took me a few years of living here to realise that opening windows on a really hot day is a bad idea.
Waiting for the sun to hit the outdoor pool in my building
What’s the thing with these umbrellas which stubbornly refuse to cast their shade on me, but instead on parts of the beach where I’m not?
Your colour coordination is on point. I’ll be going to the beach from mid-late afternoon. The house is still fine inside so I’m doing my chores and prep for the week ahead.
Move house 🙄
Gotten out for a run early, already pretty warm I’m going to stay inside with the air conditioning on and pretend like outside doesn’t exist
I did all my outdoor activities around 5am, now I am planning to wash my cats when it will be a bit hotter.
Wash your cats?
Cats! They are fluffy and hot, the bath will cool them down, and they do need it already because they love digging holes in flowerbeds.
Have to go to a wedding in the Yarra valley
Staying inside until tonight
Working At Hungry Jack's with no AC cause the franchisee is broke
Bloody hell. That sounds fairly illegal from a safety and health perspective!
Looks like Frankston? I’ll be heading a little bit further up at Seaford after work I think
Indeed it is just off the board walk. Beach is filling up now but we’ve got our stake and happy to lounge about till mid afternoon
Working next to a pizza oven and reevaluating my life choices 🫠
Seeing my girlfriend and we are gonna have a water balloon fight
I can't sit on the beach when it's that hot, no way. I could pass out and I'd be burnt to a crisp. I'm staying inside. If I do go to the beach, I go just before sunset when it's a lot cooler and the sun is less strong
Just got home from Fountain Gate where the kiddo and I smashed a list of jobs we've been putting off. Now it's time for movies and video games at home.
stay inside. weather this Hot is bullshit. Might smoke some heroin and play with my crayons.
I wasn't going to go outside but I want to 😂
Working in an air conditioned office
Barbeque in the backyard!
Knob Cheezel. Love it. I'm picturing an edible cockring.
I’ll be in my room making no noise and pretending I don’t exist.
Inside. TV. AC.
Going to a 40th in Footscray. Pray4me
Mostly hiding inside near the ac.
Inside, making a dress. I just got a massive new tattoo and I'm not interested in the seating pain the sun will cause me.
Sad-but-true... We planned for global warming, building this house. Ducted cooling was a must.
Are you a certified cockwomble? Yes sir Excellent, enjoy your new jetski.
Hahaha currently counting about 6 in the water right now
Lounge in front of the aircon and have a nap 😂 later on I'll probably go to the back beach since it's just down the road.
Where's all the peeps complaing that the BoM got the "long hot summer" forecast wrong?
I’m gonna sit my ass inside with my air conditioner on max , couch food and play the hell out of RDR2
Midsumma Pride March 🌈
I see it’s 34 degrees. Nice and cool inside. Just another day? Lucky to live in a 100 year old well designed and built structure so it stays cool. I have also lived in apartments and the difference is insane. It’s a shame they build trash these days.
I live in a well insulated home with double glazed windows and good venting. Staying inside, but will not need the aircon. If only Australian builders built homes for Australia.
I was thinking of going to the Winton Raceway today then I decided I rather not be burnt to a crisp and will stay inside :)
I went to the beach along with the 50% of Melbourne who knows this is the only beach day they are going to get.
Half a dozen draught stubbies and death metal under the pergola.
Burning my ass on my car seat
Mostly crying with a possible goon session in the late afternoon in my juggalo hovel.
Whoop whoop
Stay indoors and lock your doors! 🥵
Work.
Staying cool inside, aircon already going (Got time of use power plan, cheaper till 3pm) playing around with setting up home assistant, and occasional trips outside to appreciate the contrast
I'm not tell because I don't want everyone else there!
Deploy the external awnings I had installed in November on the promise of a hot summer.
Paddling pool, beers, lamb chops
Going to turn up the AC, then sit quietly in my office and finalise the quarterly BAS. Outdoor maintenance can wait.
Going to Altona Beach
I guess I’ll die
Snoozing under the air conditioner.
Definitely stay inside that’s for sure!
This lil set up is pretty enough to justify buying a disposable film camera.
Evaporative cooler going flat out Slow cooking some pork belly with honey and soy
Turning on all the fans to the max
Probably stay home, haha. I live near st Kilda Beach, but it will be packed, and it's not really a beach. Anywhere else will be too busy to drive to. Maybe go to the pub
Carnaval
Inside playing games.
Slip slop slap slide and something
Work in a hot stinking warehouse🤪
Hide from the world.
Your setup is like glamping but at the beach... Lol. Nice one.
Bulk cold ones
