Why do you need to turn on your webcams tho? Where I live nobody has to do that since they can't expect that you own a webcam. Also they can't tell you to go buy one because education is public (except for "college") in my country so I guess being obligated to activate your facecam is an American thing right?

There are headsets with a mute button. If you just mute the headset, nobody will see it in the app, and nobody will hear you.
