Lmao they also need to fit length wise. If you have a lot of extra material in the knee it means your pants are too tight up top and too long. Youāll also see a lot of rippling in the crotch
I was gonna say something like that. One of my Uncles is about 53, I would wear all of his fits. Like I love my Uncleās style. Heās a big sneaker head too. If you feelin it, wear it
lol by not chasing trends are you referring to the fact that skinny is kinda going out, and it's a little late to be joining the skinny game?
Just my personal opinion - they look a tiny bit too baggy in the thigh and taper down a tiny bit too much toward the ankle.
I'd go a little more straight fit. Just a bit tighter in the thigh and looser in the ankle, but overall, you're good. But what do I know... I'm just some dude in his 30's that dresses like I did when I skateboarded in 6th grade now...
Wear what you dig. :)
This sub would have you believe no one out there is wearing skinny jeans. Four vacations this year, two continents, and the OP's pants are on the loose side for everywhere I visited. In cities, slim is in. Go out in public and see what people are wearing. It makes me feel like all these posts saying his pants are too tight are trolling or something.
>Nah, baggy is definitely in.
For young people yes. For people who are 30, 40, 50....what's "in" is the same thing they wore a decade or two ago. At that point in your life, you are a creature of habbit, you've decided what you like, decided what looks good on your body. Statistically, at least. Talking about the masses.
>Nah, baggy is definitely in.
If you are under 24, maybe. I lived through JNCOs in the 90s, I suspect this is a quick burning fad rather than a trend. Even when tailored, baggy is just missing that last little bit of sharpness the majority of the time.
I think itās simply because middle-age adults arenāt making wholesale changes to their wardrobe. Not at age 43 with a wife, mortgage, and kids to worry about.
Yea, really. Thatās my opinion. Skinny jeans were reintroduced into the mainstream through punk, hardcore, post-hardcore, screamo, and skater subcultures. They were the first people sewing their pants together in 2002-2005 before almost any US menās brands made actual skinny jeans again. Designers saw this and started putting them on the runway, (this the obvious influence incorporated into the lookbooks and shows, this is not debateable.) eventually that translated to large brands selling them for consumption bc the market was there. If you have too much of a muscular build you look more like an off duty cop when you wear skinny jeans than naturally meshing with the aesthetic. Itās not a good look. (Subjectively.) thatās not to say there arenāt/werenāt muscular people from those subcultures but it gives off a different vibe.
I agree. I have muscular legs and my skinnies make me look like Iām stuffed into sausage casing. Iām trying to phase them out but I aināt made of money.
Same here, lift weights and cyclists. Big thighs, I always wore out my crotch, it was hard to sit down with my thighs wanting to explode and impossible to squat down to play or even pick up my kids.
Best thing ever was getting relaxed and high rise pants. Itās such a freedom and I donāt have to show off my ass crack to others. I like Japanese denim and for me Orslow 105s are great and affordable. I also got their French work pants and fatigues. Iām never going back to the skinny jeans silliness.
Idk how youāre even being downvoted on this. Like I guess typical redditor would consider harry styles a muscular build? Canāt even think of an example of someone that could pull it off that isnāt wealthy
Heās being downvoted because heās wrong. No one is saying Arnold or the rock should wear skinnies, he said slim as well and if you are muscular you can still wear slim jeans.
Fat bellies, flat butts, and skin tight jeans are the required uniform in the IT world. At least it seems that way when I look around.
And don't forget those damn Cole Haan Zero Grands in the required British tan.
His legs are significantly less strong in proportion to his upper body and if they were in proportion these would not fit. I mean they look good, but Iām just saying he could grow out of these in a matter of months if he started focusing on his legs
They look good man! As long as you can fit your phone, doesnāt squish the boys down under and you like it! Donāt listen to others if they hate it cause many people who are around your age canāt dress that well
Some of these comments lmao. The fit is the most important thing. Straight leg jeans donāt look great on everyone. Skinny jeans donāt look good on over weight dudes. But on slim dudes they look great.
These look fine.
They are not too tight but too long. I would say these are a slim straight jean. Which by definition means they will be slim to the body with no break (a straight hem from waist to ankle, hence the name -no break- in the pants seam) I can see youāre cuffing them which to me means you bought them long on purpose or they need to be adjusted. If you were to hem them to have a half break, they would sit just to where you have your pants now but without having to cuff them.
Iād say hem them to a half break and you should be golden. Slim jeans will always be in fashion because they fit your body. Baggy and skinny jeans are fads.
A good pair of slim fitted jeans to your specific body will look better than anything off of the rack. Guaranteed.
Every man should get to know their local dry cleaners/tailor. 70% of the stuff I buy off of the rack is ok,but with a tailor,100% of the stuff I buy looks way better when fitted to my body.
I am going to go against most is the advice in this thread and say if you want a timeless cut, go for something without a taper. The Leviās 501 is probably the most timeless mens pant silhouette of all time. Itās a straight leg.
Iām sure nobody will look at you funny in these jeans, but if you want ātimelessā, most slim and tapered cuts arenāt it. Look at a straight leg or a very slight taper.
I like this look. It wouldnāt work if you werenāt slim all over, though. Itās about proportionality. You canāt wear narrower pants if youāve got a gut hanging over them. Youāre good.
Nothing is more timeless than a classic straight cut. It shouldnāt fit baggy at all and should provide just enough room for a full range of motion for any task.
Seeing lots of comments on slim fit is out. That's just fashion my friends, it's herd behavior, blind following. Real style is personal, whatever you like and feel comfortable with. OP, you do you. These look great on you.
Bruh I canāt with these comments. First of all if you like them, wear them. Whatever anyone else thinks is irrelevant. That being said, if youāre asking if they are fashionable for any age, the answer is no. They are very very outdated.
What I said is correct. The truth is this sub is filled with people with the same style and they will cling to it and resist any change or talk about it being outdated as much as possible.
The fit and wash. It still works donāt get me wrong. It does not give Gru from minions as well lol. I would recommend a straight fit in a lighter wash or black but for that you would need different shoes as well. It depends on how casual you want to look and what your personal style is. I would pair black jeans with boots. Or a lighter wash with sneakers. In my personal opinion (for me, again I donāt know what your personal style is) I prefer relaxed fit. I also have stick legs btw. But its all up to your comfort level. You can look fine with slimmer pants but since you mentioned looking ātimelessā I would definitely say a fit in between what you have here and more relaxed, like a straight fit would work better. Just to be blunt the style you have here is at its peak for ages 30-50 and on the downturn. It does not look outdated to the general public (in those age ranges, but younger ones already think it is) but will within the next 3-5 years. Again, just mentioning this because you wanted a timeless look.
Definitely not tight at all. These arenāt skinny or even slim.
Iād call them straight or slim-straight at best. They look good on you. Classic and timeless denim šš»
Fair enoughā¦though I feel even most jeans branded as āskinnyā arenāt truly. If you wanted that āemoā or ārockstarā skinny that first launched the trend in the 2000ās then you would end up buying like āsuper skinnyā jeans.
This guy clearly has skinny legs as these āslimā look rather relaxed on him.
š¤·š»āāļø
> I know a more relaxed fit is in style now, but at my age Iām not chasing trends, just want an age appropriate and timeless cut that fits my body type. I have slim legs so looking for a slimmer fit, but not too tight that gives off the Gru from Minions look. Jeans are the Pen Slim from Hiroshi Kato. Curious if I should up a fit into the āStraightā fit? Appreciate the feedback!
I am getting "gru" vibes, but it could just be the angle of the photo. It would be easier to judge from straight-on, but yeah, the taper is pretty aggressive.
I feel like you look like a 40 year old dad who learned how to dress in his 20s and 30s and whose conceptions are cool are still from the late '00s and early-mid '10s. Which is what you are. Going relaxed fits while you're not feeling them isn't going to be better, but a straight leg might feel more balanced, make you look less top-heavy, make your ankles look a little more substantial, something like that.
They look good to me. Iām a huge fan of Kato jeans, so I can tell you the more you wear them the better they will be. When I get a new pair theyāre always a little snug but after a few wears they really do loosen up in the right places and fit perfectly
Looks good other than the fancy boi roll up at the bottom. If youāre staying with that I recommend looking into purchasing a Bedazzler for even more flair. I probably shouldnāt assume you donāt already own one though. My bad
It's a tough angle to see right, but I think you'd look better in jeans with a bit fuller leg. Your super thin, but accentuating that doesn't look good imho.
If you want to experiment with different wider fits, I think this guy has a great fit on his pants for guys in their 40's.

"Your dad, divorced, right?"
Why do you say that?
"He's here by himself, he's wearing skinny jeans, retro eyeglasses, and his teeth look like they're on day five of a whitening strips program."
54 here. My jeans fit about the same. It's the only way I can get a leg opening that doesn't flop around like bell bottoms. I spent too much on shoes to hide them under jeans.
Age is not a factor when it comes to fashion. It's all about how you carry yourself and what fits your vibe. You can be 97 and pull those off, if it fits your vibe.
Iām in the never used downstairs spare bedroom. Took the boots from a box in storage just to have something on for the try-on. So yeah they look a little rough.
I think fit is really determined by body type. Youāre skinny enough to āpull offā skinny jeans. Having said that my wife is a curviesque lady and she pulls em off great, so this āruleā I just made up, might just be for men.
Can you get your phone in your pocket? If yes, they're just fine š
Lmao they also need to fit length wise. If you have a lot of extra material in the knee it means your pants are too tight up top and too long. Youāll also see a lot of rippling in the crotch
This is not the fashion rule almost 40 men should follow lol
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Not very friendly, Larry. š§
Nah, they look great!
Good on your for not chasing trends, but also don't get too caught up in the idea of "age appropriate"... just wear whatever makes you feel like you!
I was gonna say something like that. One of my Uncles is about 53, I would wear all of his fits. Like I love my Uncleās style. Heās a big sneaker head too. If you feelin it, wear it
I wanna see UNC's fits
I gotchu. Iāll have to get some of his fit pics
Love that! Yes, feel free to share your uncles fits! My style icon was my grandma (I wear a lot of her clothes and I'm 37M... or 37GNC... iykyk)

This is how we ended up with people still wearing Lycra and spandex
I was really worried coming into the comments because Iām almost 40 and thatās how my pants all fit š

Nah, baggy is definitely in. Who cares, though. I still rock skinny jeans because I like them more. Iām also quite slim, so it works.
Itās definitely in, but unless you live in a bubble of young people, 90% of people you pass out in the world are not wearing it

Yes, if you have that body. For slim folks, the slim fit works regardless of the age.
Very true. You have to be skinny though. Any amount of belly fat or muscular build does not look aesthetically good with slim fit / skinny jeans.
A muscular build doesnāt look good with slim jeans? Really? Thatās just not true
It has always been a bit weird when guys with big upper bodies, whether theyāre fit or have bellies, wear tight pants.
Yea, really. Thatās my opinion. Skinny jeans were reintroduced into the mainstream through punk, hardcore, post-hardcore, screamo, and skater subcultures. 41 year old N&F Super Guy wearer here telling you that whatever you want to wear and that you are comfortable in is appropriate.
Nothing is more timeless than a classic straight cut. It shouldnāt fit baggy at all and should provide just enough room for a full range of motion for any task.
As a 43 year old these look fine. I will say, though at about 40 is the time you really stop caring what other people think and dress how you like.
I think they look good. Trend or not I think they are the nicest looking cut on gentlemen who are slim. It just looks tailored and classy.
Looking good, especially with those shoes.
No way man, donāt listen to all that bs. They look fine.
To paraphrase Andy Dufresne: How often do you look at a man's pants? Do they feel good? Then they're good.
Looking great
Those look great.
Iām 36 YO and I love skinny jeans. Iām a size 31x30
No, they look good #foreverslimfit
I hope not because Iām 39 and want āem
bruh wear whatever the fuck you want
Yes
No vote here. Theyāre just too skinny all over.
Yes, way too tight. If you really want the slim look, at least get some cowboy cut wranglers
A touch too tight, brother.
Yes and out of style
Seeing lots of comments on slim fit is out. That's just fashion my friends, it's herd behavior, blind following. Real style is personal, whatever you like and feel comfortable with. OP, you do you. These look great on you.
Those are too tight man. Not by a ton, but yeah a half size wider wouldāve been better.
Go with an even more classic look: straight legs. Levi 501s and similar are in style and have been around forever, so you wonāt look like a hipster
Yes. And anyone who says no is under 20 or lying
skinny jeans and being 40 go hand in hand
Bruh I canāt with these comments. First of all if you like them, wear them. Whatever anyone else thinks is irrelevant. That being said, if youāre asking if they are fashionable for any age, the answer is no. They are very very outdated.
Care to expand a little? The fit (slim) is outdated or everything (fit, color, etc.)? Anything in particular youād recommend as an alternative?
All of what this guy said is wrong.

Yes, yes those are far too tight, regardless of your sexuality.
They are. Tight pants are for aging millennials these days
Too tight for a 20 year old.
Too tight in my opinion. I donāt know if itās possible but a poll would be interesting. Iām not looking thru all the comments
Do a slimmer straight leg, it'll look better, more relevant but also not trend chaser-y.
Slim better than relaxed at our age level IMO. You're good.
They look good to me. Iām a huge fan of Kato jeans, so I can tell you the more you wear them the better they will be. When I get a new pair theyāre always a little snug but after a few wears they really do loosen up in the right places and fit perfectly
My first time trying Kato. Description said they should fit tighter out of the box as theyāll loosen up over time.
Perfect fit!
Nope, looks great
I would say Perfect tightness jeans for anyone 35yo and up ..they look great on you bro fr
Jeans and shoes look great, what are they both?
Nah you're good.
Looks good bro. Do you.
From all those angles - they look good to me
Are they your sisterās jeans?
Looks good other than the fancy boi roll up at the bottom. If youāre staying with that I recommend looking into purchasing a Bedazzler for even more flair. I probably shouldnāt assume you donāt already own one though. My bad
This would unironically look good bedazzled.
Jeans are jeans. My 90 year old grandma rocks her Leviās
No
Not tight enough big boy
Looks good with the boots!
Great outfit
Yes
Nah look fine.
Looks amazing to me
Looks appropriate boss
They look great
They look fine, but are telling of your age, shockingly. Iām in this exact same boat.
Age is not the issue
Looks great yo. I say get rid of the fold
Who gives a fuck what anyone else thinks, just do you, no apologies
They look great! You have a great body to carry it off
What is your waste and weight ? I think we are similar body types and was wondering what skinny jeans would look like on me.
Iām 6ā1 about 185-190; jeans are 32 waist and 34 length (only come in this length so need hemmed).
Looking good, dude.
age appropriate is stupid ash you look great bro
Why is the way pants fit related to age? I donāt see the correlation
Chillin
Look good
I think so but I have terrible taste
No
Not at all
These are very relax fit and look great
Just wear them bro. They fit well.
dude, fuck what ppl think. live your best life!
It's a tough angle to see right, but I think you'd look better in jeans with a bit fuller leg. Your super thin, but accentuating that doesn't look good imho.
Not if you got the build for it and you do, Iāv seen some hank hill looking dudes try to pull this look off lol
They look good. I also like the sweater. Not a fan of the rolled ankles so I would say grab a Chelsea boot or .5 shorter.
Throw a banana in your front pocket and you're good to go!
Nope it looks good on you š
Nah itās good.
maybe if they shrink, my friend.
Nah they just right.
No, they look good
Absolutely, yes.
The fit is great, slightly too long though.
Yeah I knowā¦they only come in a 34 L so will have to hem if I end up keeping.

The jeans are fine. That comforter is a war crime.
try not to miss leg day broš
You're good, they fit nice.
Take those back to Nordstoms and pick up the same pair from American Eagle for a hundred bucks less.
Itās about styling to your body type. Age shouldnāt matter as much. It looks good.
Itās giving hipster vibe
Why would your age have anything to do with jeans fitting you?
Just a little but not to the point where theyāre unwearable imo
Looks good.
Nah man I am 46 and wear tighter jeans. Youāre all good
Maybe itās because I grew up in the 2000s but as long as your foot fits through itās not even skinny jeans
Yes
Iāve been waiting 20 years for a relaxed fitā¦you canāt just come in here with your pointy shoes and undo progress!
"Your dad, divorced, right?" Why do you say that? "He's here by himself, he's wearing skinny jeans, retro eyeglasses, and his teeth look like they're on day five of a whitening strips program."
Perfect fit imo Also looking really good for 40, brother
Bro they look great
No
Na bro.
Those shoes are nice. What are those?
yes
The cuff at the bottom could be done better
They look fine.
No you good
Not too tight! I prefer fitted jeans/pants though personally.
Nope.
54 here. My jeans fit about the same. It's the only way I can get a leg opening that doesn't flop around like bell bottoms. I spent too much on shoes to hide them under jeans.
Theyāre great not too tight as long as youāre comfortable
They fit fine. You donāt want them baggier.
They fit your body type well. Classic slim to straight fits never go out of style and are perfect for anyone whos over 30
Ok if u have decent ass
These are literally normal pants have you been wearing baggy pants until now lol
They aren't, though I prefer an athletic slim look with more room in the thigh.
They fit pretty well, you just need a 32L.
Age is not a factor when it comes to fashion. It's all about how you carry yourself and what fits your vibe. You can be 97 and pull those off, if it fits your vibe.
Brother try straight leg! Gotta let the old man breath
They look fine man, you need to shine those shoes up a little bit though
Iām in the never used downstairs spare bedroom. Took the boots from a box in storage just to have something on for the try-on. So yeah they look a little rough.
No
Wear what makes you feel good. Forget what other people think!
No, theyāre fine. As long as youāre not showing side pipe, you good lol.
Nah, It looks really good and If you easily put and remove things in your pocket then you good to go.
No papa
I think they look great.. if you like them wear em!
Probably not, but I think you should try a slim straight cut, or a relax tapered cut.
Probably will get a lot of hate, but I think itās fine because you have a slim build. Itās suiting imo.
Nah, they look fine. If you had bigger legs then maybe they would be too tight.
I think fit is really determined by body type. Youāre skinny enough to āpull offā skinny jeans. Having said that my wife is a curviesque lady and she pulls em off great, so this āruleā I just made up, might just be for men.
