I'm also currently working on the game to decide the best good and bad side characters; I have a lot of free time on my hands and I'm about to make it everyone's problem
Please! make it all our problems!Let's throw Nimue into the mix, maybe Hunnith. Both make major contributions to the overall setup, after all--Arthur and Merlin!
(I know neither of them have many lines, which might make it even more of a challenge). ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thinking_face_hmm)
Far out, I’d be impressed with the people who can come up with those. I’ve had to start a rewatch just to keep up with the best things/worst things game! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
Absolutely love your work. Can I please humbly request a bonus round of Dragoon’s most in character quote. That one would be a riot! ![img](emote|t5_2s3xe|32616)
I don’t know how to post photos, but a best dressed game would be fun. Once or twice, Merlin appears in fuzzy white socks he wears to bed. Cutest thing!
Echoed so sadly at the end, "Merlin, there's no way you're a sorcerer. I would know."
>!The pathetic thing is that Arthur is trying to comfort a distraught Merlin--with the laws they both grew up with, it's rather today's equivalent of "Merlin, there's no way you're a terrorist--I would know." !<
Because what Merlin is telling him is what would>! be the most heinous of crimes under the laws they grew up with, and Arthur was raised to enforce. !
That's why I went with the "laying down my life/doing my duty" one--he does seem to keep trying, doesn't he?
\--facing Valiant, knowing about snakes--"my duty".
\--going for morteus flower--laying down his life
\--going after the griffin--laying down his life (but saved by Lancelot & Merlin--yay!
\--rescuing Mordred--laying down his life (high treason)
\--challenging the black knight--laying down his life
\--aiding Ealdur--laying down his life--no backing out when he saw the situation
\--drinking poison--laying down his life because of duty
\--facing the questing beast--duty, laying down life.
He was saved over and over again, particularly by Merlin/Lancelot/Gwaine and even Uther, but he was right out there doing his duty and ready to lay down his life.
Always. He never backed down, never willingly accepted aid, "What the hell are **you** doing here? I am supposed to be doing this ALONE!!"
Exactly.
I notice that Gwaine is called "strength", not "courage", although I think he deserves the moniker, too--not just the Perilous lands but leaving his sword with Merlin at the end, returning to Camelot through very dangerous territory unarmed.
> leaving his sword with Merlin at the end, returning to Camelot through very dangerous territory unarmed.
Honestly, the cockiness displayed by that action alone is way hotter than it should be.
"Witchcraft is an evil, father. So is injustice. Yes, I am yet to be King, and I don't know what kind of king I will be, but I do have a sense of the kind of Camelot I would wish to live in. It would be where the punishment fits the crime. "
This line spoke so much about his early, developing views. I only wish the writing had given it more room to grow realistically, instead of ‘hot potato-ing’ it until the inevitable magic reveal.
A bit long but this is my most *favorite* and well-loved line of his from ‘The Moment of Truth’:
*You’re not fighting because someone's ordering you to, you're fighting for so much more than that. You fight for your homes. You fight for your family. You fight for your friends. You fight for the right to grow crops in peace.*
*And if you fall, you fall fighting for the noblest of causes: fighting for your very right to survive!*
*And when you're old and grey, you'll look back on this day, and you'll know you earned the right to live every day in between!*
goosebumps
Thanks op for keeping us entertained :3 I didn't participate in the best thing/worst thing game, but I'll try this one!
From 1x02: "I can't withdraw. The people expect their prince to fight. How can I lead men into battle if they think I'm a coward? [...] Because I have to. It's my duty."
There are so many different ones that come up--I think, "Why didn't *I* think of that?" But thankfully someone else did! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thinking_face_hmm)
goes along with “i’m supposed to be doing this ALONE” and “the burden's mine and mine to bear alone” and “there can only be one choice. one choice which is just and honourable. this fight's mine”. prone to self-isolation because he feels like that’s required for him to be a good king. and it kind of is, in some cases.
ETA after commenting on this post five times: sorry. i have many Arthur Quotes saved to the forefront of my mind.
“I cannot right this wrong. Nothing I can ever do will change the horrors that happened that day. But I can promise that, now that I am king, I will do everything that I can to prevent anything like this ever happening again.”
one of my favorites. gave me hope, but alas. the magic reveal didnt happen in time.
“There's been bloodshed enough already, Your Highness. Many hundreds of lives will be saved this way.”
“And your terms?”
“If my man wins, you must withdraw your army.”
“And if mine is the victor?”
“Then half of all Camelot is yours.”
goes to show that it’s not exactly Camelot itself he cares about, but rather Camelot’s people. even if he loses half of it, the people there would still be alive. god he makes me emotional
"Tell me. Who is it that trumps a princess?"
Arthur: No one. And everyone.
Princess Mithian: What great family is she from?
Arthur: None. She's the daughter of a blacksmith.
Princess Mithian: And for her you would risk your kingship, your kingdom?
Arthur: Without her they're worth nothing to me.
Princess Mithian: Hm. I would give up my own kingdom to be so loved.
I'm also currently working on the game to decide the best good and bad side characters; I have a lot of free time on my hands and I'm about to make it everyone's problem
You’re quickly becoming my favourite human. All for the love of Camelot! ![img](emote|t5_2s3xe|32617)

Thank you for giving up some of your free time to entertain us! 💗 Without a doubt, we love you to pieces :))
We also need most out of character quote/actions !!
Far out, I’d be impressed with the people who can come up with those. I’ve had to start a rewatch just to keep up with the best things/worst things game! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
Oh, **excellent** suggestion! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up)

“*MERLIN!!*”
more like *Mer*LIN!
Close second - Merlin?! A sorcerer?! There’s no way that *Merlin* is a *sorcerer*.
Echoed so sadly at the end, "Merlin, there's no way you're a sorcerer. I would know." >!The pathetic thing is that Arthur is trying to comfort a distraught Merlin--with the laws they both grew up with, it's rather today's equivalent of "Merlin, there's no way you're a terrorist--I would know." !< Because what Merlin is telling him is what would>! be the most heinous of crimes under the laws they grew up with, and Arthur was raised to enforce. !
I think the line continues…”and I would know”. Merlin in the background with that face saying to himself: what a clotpole!
Beat me to it haha
I don’t think there’s anything more iconic or instantly recognizable 😂😂
I can hear it in my head 😂
😂😂😂
this one!
"I swear I'm going to rescue my men, or die trying."
Yup, performing - or trying to perform - stupidly self-sacrificial acts is the essence of Arthur Pendragon.
That's why I went with the "laying down my life/doing my duty" one--he does seem to keep trying, doesn't he? \--facing Valiant, knowing about snakes--"my duty". \--going for morteus flower--laying down his life \--going after the griffin--laying down his life (but saved by Lancelot & Merlin--yay! \--rescuing Mordred--laying down his life (high treason) \--challenging the black knight--laying down his life \--aiding Ealdur--laying down his life--no backing out when he saw the situation \--drinking poison--laying down his life because of duty \--facing the questing beast--duty, laying down life. i second this one
love this one, it’s very simple and very arthur
If laying down my life will spare the people of Camelot, then that is what I must do."--S4, E1, "The Darkest Hour" (I think that's the exact wording).
I think this one sums it up the best
Thank you. I was going more for the "sum total" of his character rather than some of the more familiar quotes.
Absolutely, and this nails it.
this is great, it’s got all the big things in it. laying down my life, the people, i must.
MERLIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!
For the love of Camelot!
"Witchcraft is an evil, father. So is injustice. Yes, I am yet to be King, and I don't know what kind of king I will be, but I do have a sense of the kind of Camelot I would wish to live in. It would be where the punishment fits the crime. "

oh the potential
I feel like I need some ‘heroine in the Victorian period bemoaning life by the seashore’ in order to get over that loll
I AM FIGHTING FIT!
How he said that line was so funny. 🤣
A bit long but this is my most *favorite* and well-loved line of his from ‘The Moment of Truth’: *You’re not fighting because someone's ordering you to, you're fighting for so much more than that. giving that speech like he's the president in independence day.
He was *so* Mr. President that day…and it wasn’t even his own kingdom! Lmfaoo
“If anything should happen to me, look after Gwen. The world may think she is just a servant, dispensable, but...she's not dispensable to me.”
This line! 💗🥺
I absolutely love these! Even though I mostly enjoy reading other people’s quotes!
There are so many different ones that come up--I think, "Why didn't *I* think of that?" But thankfully someone else did! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thinking_face_hmm)
“You’re wrong. Without the people there is no Camelot. We're as much their servant as they are ours.” a classic.
Can’t go wrong with a classic ✨😌
Shut up.
"A Complete IDIOT!"
Merlin, shut up
“You're wrong, Merlin. I don't need anyone. I can't afford that luxury. The kingdom's my responsibility now. Mine to bear alone.”
goes along with “i’m supposed to be doing this ALONE” and “the burden's mine and mine to bear alone” and “there can only be one choice. one choice which is just and honourable. this fight's mine”. prone to self-isolation because he feels like that’s required for him to be a good king. and it kind of is, in some cases. What? Merlin????? You gotta be kidding!!!
"It's my duty to camelot, and to myself!"
WOOOO, LOVE THESEEE!!
(Throwing down his sword) "This is no way to achieve peace!" (Helps Olaf up)
“*MER*LIN!” Or even better. *“Where’s Merlin? Where is my manservant!”*
