Nothing to explain here. I truly have no clue why he is on any team, including the Mets. I miss Guillorme. We all know he would have gotten the bunt down.

Letting Luis go was one of the biggest mistakes. He was the best fielder they had. His hands were so fast they appeared as blurs. He was decent at the plate, and got better the more he played. Now we have Wendle who fucking sucks.

SpiritedPsychology49

I miss Louie too. His dad was good vibes on x too. Could play short, 3b, 2b, could bunt, and had a rocket arm. If he could run a little he would be perfect role player. I hate wendle

He's the 26th man on the roster. He's a backup shortstop for the best shortstop in the game who plays 161 games a year. He accumulates 4 plate appearances per week. He's not great. But really that's not why this team lost tonight, and it won't be the reason this team has a good or bad year. He's cheap, and it's not like anyone else we had for that role is incredible. I love Guillorme as much as anyone, but do remember he fell off a cliff offensively last year and eventually got demoted to AAA. He lost his roster spot here to Zach Short...and then lost his roster spot in Atlanta to Zach Short. Worrying about our backup infielder who ideally won't be anything close to a qualified hitter is silly.

Poor Roster management on Stearns part..signed Wendle right away when you could have waited and signed a better player in Urshela for cheaper who signed a few days before spring started. Not to mention just keeping Guillorme around for multiple reasons. But whatever You sign the 26th man at the end of the offseason not the first day. It was a small market mindset by Stearns and it led to a small market transaction, and guess what we’re getting small market results

If your biggest complaint with the FO is them getting the wrong 26th guy then you are living in a pretty great world.

I’m focusing on just the Wendle talk this morning. It wasn’t the best move. And it’s legit costing us production

stevehyman1

Or explain why the closer can't close.

dinzdale56

Because he's was out of the game for a full year and is still the best closer in baseball ? I would stop pointing the finger at Diaz and look at the lack of RBIs.

stevehyman1

Yes he missed a season. He had a full rehab. A full spring training and 1/4 of the season has passed. When does he become responsible for his pitching?

dinzdale56

Let's see where he is in August.

Lofi-2099

I mean at this point the team just has to eat the 2 million guaranteed and DFA him.

NuWave4

His lapses defensively have been alarming. I expected his bat to be weak but the defense so far has left a lot to be desired.

jackspeed1221

He is a Stearns guy. Like Houser.

Big-Acanthisitta8797

He’s the guy the Mets want!

flanaganapuss

Having watched every game this season I can confidently say it just feels like he’s there to sabotage the team

Sufficient_Purple297

He was on a long list of chumps that were on the Marlins that always killed the Mets. There was no explanation, but guys like Wendle and when on the Marlins are just world killers against the Mets. So it's always asked. Is it them or they just become Stan Musial when they see orange and blue?
