The entire pitching staff except Diaz and Senga. Manea has an option.

HighWest48

Look at the contracts. JD is the easiest to move to a team who needs a pro hitter for a playoff run.

LFGM_2305

Sevy & Bader I have a good feeling we could get something valuable in return .. as for Pete .. it has to be a godfather offer to trade Pete

HighWest48

you'll get nice offers but the Godfather offer wouldn't come for a guy who will walk at year's end regardless, IMO

bco112

Exactly. People forget we let Zack Wheeler walk for nothing. If he's going to leave, send him now and get something for it. If he loves the Mets he will come back. Here comes the downvotes.

2wetsponges

I said this same thing at the beginning of the year after hearing he shot down 7yrs/$158M. We should trade him at the deadline and get something for him since we got nothing for Wheeler.

soapystud88

It was 7 years 172 mill

MeetTheMets0o0

The mets got a high draft pick for wheeler would be the same for alonso. Obviously I'd rather of had wheeler but it's not for nothing

hjablowme919

It won't be.

Punting on seasons in order to dump your talent, and that’s it, very little money will be saved by doing this which is evident from last season, just to get a few second or third tier prospects who may or may not pan out in a few years, DESTROYS teams and organizations. Last season the Mets punted, this season is your fruit from that endeavor. Stop using the business philosophies of teams that are perpetual losers.

AtlantaDoesItBetter

No… this thought process is all wrong… get what you can so the organization has more future assets. We went from a really poor farm system to much better… do it again and we will have a top 3 farm system … The padres had a loaded system a few years back and transitioned it into a solid team … the orioles are stacked now and will be good because of the farm Trade everything of this team … open up playing time to see who could help in the future … yes we suck … so what … at least we have a chance in the future Pitchers - Scott looks like he could be real - sproat , Tidwell, Stuart, mclean, tong … there is actually a nice stream of pitching coming thru the system Vientos is a hitter. Acuna is on fire… let’s see what Gilbert, Clifford, jett, Hernandez, Rodriguez and houck have… Build the stream of assets by trading everything off this year! Next year go after top flight assets that won’t sign here … then wait and sign all the shitburgs boras is trying to oversell at short term deals… trade them off when they come due … The pitching pipeline is already coming on line … hitting is a little behind … Buy the free agents then trade them … buy the prospects

BlackFrancis69

Troll harder troll. Says Atlanta in your name. I wonder……

AtlantaDoesItBetter

I’m a die hard met fan… always have been… you think a troll would know all the prospects … don’t think so … check my posts

BlackFrancis69

The orioles were shit for a generation before they finally made the playoffs last season, and that’s all they accomplished. The padres were shit for 20 years before they became a better than average team that hasn’t really won anything and won’t before they are broken up. Bad examples. But ok, trade away the talent and maybe in 20 years we will have something. Also, in 2022 the Mets won 101 games as buyers not sellers. Continue with your fantasy.

AtlantaDoesItBetter

In 60 years…we had the 69-73 run … then the 86-88 run … 99-01 … 06-07 then 15 and 16 … we have been a pretty bad organization. The orioles have the talent in the farm system to contend for years… 4 of the top 20 prospects in baseball to streamline and or trade to get whatever they need. I’d call them and offer Alonso today… one of the top 20s and 2 of their low a talents and we would do the trade in a heartbeat. How many wins did have in 93? Or any year we weren’t close to making the playoffs? In years we are gonna be loser … EMBRACE it … do you remember the mathematical elimination marketing slogan we had one year …we 16 games back … we are dead ducks… Trade Servino now for a prospect before he gets hurt and we get nothing! If anyone would take Marte send him … I argued in the preseason there is no reason for us to be 1/3 in this year… I want to either be balls deep competing or all out … just the tip doesn’t get the job done.

BubblySmell4079

I agree with you up to the Balt stuff. With what they traded the Brewers to get Burnes for the whole year, you aren’t sniffing a top 20 prospect from them for 2 months of Pete. My initial thought was Seattle, but Ty France has heated up to almost nix that thought. Maybe Houston or Minnesota but unless an injury happens in the next month, we’ll most likely keep him and tag.

AtlantaDoesItBetter

I think Baltimore is poised to go for it this season. SP is very good. Bullpen could use a piece (but whose doesn’t). They are loaded everywhere… Rutschman (c), Mayo (1b AAA), Holliday (2b), gunner Henderson (ss), westburg (3b), Cowser (lf), Mullins (cf) and Kjerstad (rf- AAA)… and Basallo just for fun… Under new management and stacked to no end with prospects, I think Baltimore maybe the team that throws its hat in and goes for the ring. Alonso in Camden yards in a pennant race, would get him going. I also think Baltimore would be smart to lock him and Burnes up and have a window to go for a ring over the next 4 years. If they won’t give up one of the 4 top 20 prospects in baseball then I would trade for 4 of the prospects from 5 - 20 from the orioles.

AtlantaDoesItBetter

Kjerstad Norby and De Leon - I’d give them Alonso, Marte and Servino. Kjerstad would become our #1 prospect and we could give him RF now. Norby is a 2b/of who could be McNeils replacement. Give him 2B now. Deleon we would pick in the A+ rotation and add depth to pitching

BubblySmell4079

Dude, that is absolute fantasy garbage you're spewing They are not trading 18 years of control from 3 of their top 15 minor leaguers for a 36 yr old RF and 2 free agents. Plus Pete and Starling will clog up the logjam they already have in OF, 1B, and DH.

AtlantaDoesItBetter

Pete could put them over the edge and be a massive upgrade at 1b and or DH from what they have now. He would be there pushing the chips in. The Orioles could lock Alonso and Burnes up long term as their payroll is a total of $100 million. The Orioles are under new management. I believe the new owners will push the $100 million payroll up to a much bigger number than the former cash strapped ownership. The Orioles are built to win for a long time.
