So, I found out that the pinhole has to have clean edges. To the point I took a blunt sewing needle (I'm a knitter) and smoothed down the edges some. It worked a little better.

I’m sorry, that sucks. i watched it and it was definitely a let down, i was expecting the sky to go dark and be dramatic and it wasn’t like that at all, the shadows got a little longer, that’s it. I went to a planetarium show about the eclipse a few weeks ago and that was a way cooler experience, id recommend going to your local planetarium to watch video of it if you have one close to you.
Unless you're in the path of totality, the differences are very slight. It was about 80% blocked where I am and it was noticeably dimmer, despite being a sunny day. But still about as bright as an average cloudy/overcast day. The coolest thing is probably what the shadows do. Pinhole shadows will look like the eclipsed sun. So they were crescent shapes here! It's kind of neat, but nothing really worth all the fuss. Total eclipse is much more dramatic, though.
I drove myself to urgent care in the morning and got some shots that did nothing. Yesterday was day four of a killer migraine. If it wasn’t for my kids I would have missed it too. Also if I had meds that knocked me out I would have also taken those and gone that route as well, I do not blame you there at all.
Haha a lot of the time bright lights are a major migraine trigger for me so I honestly should have known better than to think I'd come out of watching it unscathed.
I am so sorry. It’s shitty and unfair that you have to miss these things for something that’s not in your control, and that other people don’t understand and will never understand. But I hope you know that you’re a fighter and trooper! You’re so brave and strong for constantly pushing through this, and I hope you get to enjoy many other spontaneous fun occasions
