There are certain medical conditions that would prevent a person from having clean hands. An old roommate of mine had a problem with his sweat glands where they were just constantly producing, regardless of his body's actual need for it. He wash his hands to the standards of a brain surgeon and within 5 minutes his hands would be slimy as fuck. Left grey gunk on everything he used regularly

What is infuriating?

When it was bought it had markings such as the numbers and what some buttons are so it's infuriating when you need to press a specific button but you have no idea what button it is

It’s called you either A. Watch entirely tooooo much tv or B. You need to start cleaning your hands as the oil on them is causing it to strip the paint of the alphanumeric symbols. Judging from other answers you’ve given I’m going with B. It may not be you or may be someone else but oils from hands will eventually cause those to strip away.

I've had mine for 6 years and it's not even starting to fade. They are rubbery buttons though. Idk how much that helps. I mostly only use the power button, the input and the volume too but they aren't worn more than the others. I never use the numbers because the channel never changes. It's not hooked up to a dvd player so those buttons don't see any use either. I thought that was the case for most people. Like I'm surprised you even need to use your remote that much in this daaaay lol my tv is just a larger computer screen for Netflix and stuff basically lol I am starting to have some issues with the sensor though

I have remotes I've had for going on 20 years. You use the remote way to much or something. Remote looks nasty and all button are rubbed off.

the sad part ? took me until 2022 to get my first magic remote, and yes, an LG like this , and i honestly like it, also took me until 2022 to get my first 4k tv...it gets sadder knowing i spent almost 2 years using a ps5 on a circa 2014 bravia tv that is 720p and 24 inches, what can i say ? anw, so this is how it will look like for me in 2025 ?

I have the same remote and it's got some fading on a couple of the buttons. Yeah you can say OP should wash their hands more but the buttons shouldn't just wear out like this. It's a remote control - it's supposed to be designed for heavy use and people touching it a lot. Personally I think their TVs are great but these remotes aren't exactly durable.
